Noon, 50°, University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Why so few sun baskers? And why are they male? I think the ground is soggy from yesterday's rain. That's all.

And why are they male?

I know exactly what they're watching and waiting for.

There must be some way to work in a joke about “The Hound of the Baskervilles.”

But I got nothing.

Sad.

Men tolerate chilliness better, and they're less concerned about getting their clothes dirty.

We just made it (finished the adopted road cleanup) before it started raining.

I found a baseball in good condition. No syringes though.

It is pleasant in Chicago too. Just got back from a nice shopping trip on the Mag Mile. Lunch outdoors by the Hancock Building and a stroll on the lake front. Nap time.

Hot.

It's hot here. 82 (how do you make a degree symbol, Althouse? Nifty!)

It will get hotter.

How old is that building?

Does it have bats?

80°. There. I did it.

Beth, I don't know how Althouse did it, but I just cut/pasted the 50° and changed the 5 to an 8 :)

Lem,

There were no highways around here that were available for adoption, so I adopted a highway in China.

When the bill arrives, the guys will each throw in $20, even though it’s only for $32.00. None of them will have anything smaller and none will actually admit they want change back.

When the girls get their bill, out come the pocket calculators.

To make a degree symbol with a Mac, hold down the alt key and press zero. On a PC, sorry I can't help you.

I look forward to it being warm enough to wear shorts so I can irritate Ann ;)

That's exactly why my wife does all the family finances, except the tipping. I do numbers in my head.

Men wake up as good-looking as they went to bed.

Women somehow deteriorate during the night.

A woman has the last word in any argument.

Anything a man says after that is the beginning of a new argument.

Ah, 50 degrees and rising. When the Men-in-Shorts/groundhogs come out and can sit to read, then you know that the Wisconsin Winter is over.

Ahhh Madison, where all the men wear shorts, where the ground is always wet, and the temperature is always below average....

To get the degree sign (°)hold down the alt key, and type 0176. Other useful ones: ® (alt+0174) © (alt+0169). You can find all these things by searching for "Character Map" in Windows Help.

There's only exaggerated posturing in my yard today.

Yesterday there was a bunny.

You only need sit still long enough in some attractive spot in a yard that all its inhabitants may exhibit themselves to you by turns.

It's nice today, but there is a storm gathering. The clouds are dark and the winds are strong. And they are afraid.

A successful man is one who makes more money that his wife can spend.

A successful woman is one who can find such a man.

Well, at least the PC owners no longer have to do a RegEdit, check the BitCache, re-boot, buy an upgrade and then call tech support.

Character Map has been a part of Windows for at least 12 years. Unless they use a lot of odd symbols or do a lot of graphics, most people simply don't know it is there. That's why they have "Windows Help".

Now that Mac users are running Unix on an Intel motherboard, how much longer will they think they have something unique? They might as well get Linux installed on a PC clone, buy a one-button mouse, and spray-paint the whole thing white.

77° and overcast in Denver today, as if anyone would be interested. I dumped water on the patio to get rid of the dust creating a massive torrent on patios below.

The following is a service announcement.

° sign for Windows; Start -- all programs -- Accessories -- System Tools -- Character map. The symbol is about dead center of the chart. Select -- Copy -- paste into document. Alernately, once there, the character map itself tells you the keystrokes that do the same thing.

While there, you can create a shortcut for character map using B or Left button on your mouse. The shortcut icon appears next to the original icon. Drag it to your desktop for easy access.

For Apple; Edit -- special characters

This concludes the service announcement.

@Çĥĩp ÅĦŐŸ: Thanks for the tip about where to find symbols on a PC. I found the ° no problem, and also the ©.

What's new in the kitchen? Baked any good π¿

This one made me laugh, because generally I agree! But how much of this is really about how women struggle more with anything related to body image and appearance... and not just upon waking.

This is so true, rh, and thank you for reminding me of one of my life's simple pleasures. It's truly magical when they come close, as if we were one of them. And we really are, in that moment.

Well, I for one am pro-women in the AM.

Disheveled is a good look. Maybe not appropriate for the rest of the day/world, but nice to wake up next to.
