"Most people are not worried about Hillary’s ability to be strong."

"Anyone who can cast herself as a feminist icon while leading the attack on her husband’s mistresses, anyone who thinks eight years of presidential pillow talk qualifies her for the presidential pillow, is plenty tough enough to smack around dictators, and other Democrats."

Writes Maureen Dowd. (TimesSelect link.)

Bulwer-Lytton candidate, absolutely. But succinct. And mercifully so.

I'd think the Secret Service probably took her pillow away.

I used to date Maureen Dowd. I still have the lump of coal she gave me for Christmas.

Mrs. Clinton? Strong? Worried? Not one little bit.

Althouse has famously commented on the Clinton décolletage.  From what I see, those variations are too subtle, symbolize almost nothing, and have little to do with an image of sexiness, strength, professionalism, etc., etc.

No, I would start worrying about Sen. Clinton's image when she decides to symbolize her strength by showing up with a shield, spear, and horned helmet.  Oh, and let's not forget the bronze brassiere.

Being a pushy broad does not indicate strength or competence.

You learn that quickly enough when you start hanging out with lawyers.

The ones who squawk the loudest (male and female) usually have the least to back up what they say.

To the sound of Wagner's Ride of the Valkiries.

My goodness what a sight.

Huh?

I do not understand the section quoted. Was it supposed to make sense?

Was MoDo trying to be cute?

Behold...the knuckle-dragger.

Dem damn pushy broads is ruinin' it for us men folk.

And Daryl specifically applied the same criteria to men. People who make the biggest show generally have the least to back it up.

Duh.

I still don't get the quote. When did Hillary lead an attack on her husband's mistresses? Did I miss it? And is the pillow talk an indication of toughness because Hillary seems to think it qualifies her? This seems like a big slam on Hillary. So MoDo dislikes Hillary?

OH! I get it... I was reading "attack on her husband's mistresses" as an attack on the fact he had them rather than attacking the mistresses and defending her husband. My bad.

It makes a whole lot more sense now.

"F**k off! It's enough that I have to see you shit-kickers every day, I'm not going to talk to you too!! Just do your G*damn job and keep your mouth shut."(From the book "American Evita" by Christopher Anderson, p. 90 - Hillary to her State Trooper bodyguards after one of them greeted her with "Good morning."

HR Clinton, being Lincolnesque...

Hillary did two things in particular concerning her husband's girlfriends. First, during the election, she was the one behind the smearing of any such who came out and claimed to have either been victimized or merely to have had sex with her husband. Remember the trailer trash stuff about Paula Jones, or that some other women were unstable? That was Hillary hitting back. Also, during her husband's term in office, her people were fairly aggressive in keeping potential paramours out of reach, esp. in the White House. Note that his people got Lewinski around her people.

Realistically, toughness, and really strength, have never been high on my list of Hillary's failings. My view for quite awhile is that she is a lot tougher and stronger than her husband. She is the fighter, and whenever he would find himself in serious trouble, he would go into a funk, until she came out swinging, and kicking him in the rear end.

Maybe a bit brittle, but deep down, a fighter. She was taught young by her father that that was the way to survive in life, and she took his lessons to heart.

My major complaint with her, ignoring her political positions for a moment, is her morality and honesty. As I have noted before here, throughout the Clintons' married life, if a scandal hit them, if it was about sex, it was his, and if it was about avarice or abuse of power, it was hers.

But if I am going to be stuck with a Democrat as president in a year and a half, my vote is for Hillary. We are at war, and Obama seems more interested in love than war. Edwards seems to prefer sending his wife with cancer out to defend himself, than to do it himself. While we may again find the White House looted when she ultimate leaves, at least she will likely strike back at our enemies while in office. So, if I could only vote for a Democrat, it would be for Hillary.

Echo Bruce's comments. I find Hillary to be incredibly corrupt, but also a dangerous enemy. If we're stuck with a Dem for POTUS, I would prefer Hillary to the others, and I hope Al Queda makes her their enemy.

I won't vote for Hillary because I oppose many of the policies she supports, but I think she's certainly tough enough to be President.

I don't really think she's that good a politician, though, and I think she's better suited by temperment to be a judge.
