I don't know about you, but I'm in Detroit. But for $8, I'm able to get WiFi, so I'm happy enough. Time to catch up on all the email and to see what's bloggable.
I got a daypass which is good in various airports. I just wish they'd had it in Reagan National Airport. Anyway, I was so glad to get it, I would have paid.... I don't even want to admit how much I would have paid for this connection! I'm internet deprived this weekend! It was driving me crazy.
I'm trying to get home from Washington. On the flight here, the woman beside me coughed constantly. On the other side a baby cried the whole way. In front of me a fat guy isolated himself from the people sitting on his sides by lowering the seat back all the way into me, casting a shadow on my newspaper and making leg crossing impossible. On the bright side, the person behind me did not kick my seat.
Gosh, is there anything bloggable? Anything? What's going on in the world that's bloggable? Can anyone think of anything? I'm wondering. (Scratching his head.) What's bloggable. What fits well (or doesn't!) in the continuity of what's already been blogged...? It's tough! What's going on, what's going on... Hmmmm...
I'm sure Ann was at the 'good airport' (Metro, not City) so she was clear of the gunfire while sitting it out in Romulus (where Metro Airport is). I grew up just south of there and yes, it's not great (the Beirut comment was pretty accurate), but hey, at least the DE-troit Tigers put up a fight for once in 22 years. I hope you made it home safely.
Yes, NWA -- initials that remind me of old record albums, by the way, for something I would not write out on my blog. The Ronald Reagan Airport is bizarre, in this old fashioned modern style and nothing much to eat. Detroit is very nice. But, really, you should see the Madison airport. It's incredibly posh!
Last I checked, Minneapolis-St. Paul airport (MSP) had free wireless everywhere (or at least in some places), so maybe that would be a better NW hub, if you have a choice.
Also, the last I checked, the NW gates at DCA are in this wierd modernist extension of the old Art Deco terminal, and is the opposite end of the airport from just about everything else, including the shopping mall w/restaurants etc. Hm, but the mall is outside the security barrier, so that might not be very useful either. There's a bar that allows smoking just outside the Continental gates, that's all I know any more.

what a scam. 8 bucks?
For $8, they should at least throw in a refillable cup o' coffee.

You're in Detroit? I'm sorry.
Neil Patrick Harris.
What is happening to the world.
Not Doogie Houser M.D.
Anyone but Doogie!
What's going on? Chemicals in our food supply? Mercury in fish!

A Blonde in Detroit.
How unlikely.
Be careful.
Peace, Maxine
Ann! I was in Detroit today as well!
Come visit TreeTown again! Mama Meeechagan always calls back her chilin's...
View Detroit as 'The Beirut of The Midwest.' It makes dodging the bullet spray that much easier!

Apparently, Detroit is no longer the violent crime capital of America. IIRC, St. Louis now holds that distinction.
It's just an airport thing...

The Detriot airport is not really in Detriot. It's more like half way to Ann Arbor.

Whew.
Glad to hear that's all it is.

(Heheheheh)
There's free wifi in the Tampa and Miami airports. They're not on the way to anywhere I regularly travel, unfortunately.

And "happy enough" for what, exactly?

Yeah, I'm home. And the airport was nice.
"And "happy enough" for what, exactly?"
For not sinking into that horrible airport feeling that life is not worth living.
I think the airport is the only new airport built in the US the last, what ,3 years? Something like that.
If the fat guy and the baby had both been wearing shorts it would have been Ann's Mamet Commuter Flight From Hell.
But it's just too damn cold now for that!
Did you fly NWA? The difference between the Detroit and DC terminals is like Dubai and Belarus.
