"Stay the course" is not a plan. And what this administration wants is to have a fake debate, as usual. They're -- you hear the drum beat on every television show from every commentator, "cut and run, cut and run, cut and run, cut and run." That's their phrase. They found their three words. They love to do that.Yes, it's terrible when your political opponents come up with a three word phrase that mocks your serious position and short circuits debate.
And they're going to try to make the elections in November a choice between "cut and run" and "stay the course". That's not the choice. My plan is not "cut and run." Their plan is "lie and die."Yes, it's terrible when your political opponents come up with a....

Kery has demonstrated the fundemental fallacy of the Democratic approach to winning elections. Namely, we don't have to have constructive ideas, we just need to be against what the GOP is doing and point out how badly they are doing.
Whether or not you think we should have invaded Iraq at all or when we did, America generally recognizes that though it is a mess, it could be worse if we pull out before the Iraqis are ready. There is reasonable debate about whether they are ready now.
America wants solutions to problems, not whining and back benching.
That's why I don't think reasonable people hold Social Security Reform or the lack of it against the GOP. There is a problem, people recognize that, maybe they didn't agree with the GOP solution, but they respect that the GOP was trying to come up with solutions. The Dem's position that all is rosy doesn't ring true on SS, and their position that Iraq is a defeat doesn't either.
Lacj of a coherent message on Iraq leaves the Dem's in the position that they can be defined (that pesky Rove again) by sound bites and three word slogans. Their loss.
One problem with Kerry's "lie and die" slogan is that it can be turned around too easily. After all, this is the guy who predicted that nothing bad would happen if we cut and ran in Vietnam. And yet, in retrospect, a lot of bad things did happen because of that, and that included several million deaths, a lot of people in reeducation camps, boat people trying to escape from that, etc.
Kerry had the excuse of youth when he made those predictions for Vietnam. He doesn't have that excuse anymore.
Someone bathe Imus - that's my 3 word contribution. Where's his Chiropractor? - that's another 3 word contribution.
Kerry and Gore each seem intent on outdoing the other's lunacy. Kerry has the hat, and Gore is the Cassandra of truthiness. Is there no political fork to stick in these guys and tell them they're long past done. Doesn't their tired sideshow have a sell-by date?
Would that they took a lesson from Abraham Lincoln and his opposition to the Mexican-American War. Once the US was officially engaged, despite his initial opposition, he knew the troops needed the full support of the US to finish the action and bring them home. He did not continue to complain and niggle on, but favored winning.
I think Kerry is trying to reclaim the 'honor' he thought he had before he entered the race. I think he enjoys the political dogfight, but he can't handle that people think of him as a fool.
Even Jacqexcuse can't shore up Kerry's sorry performance lately.
The "no plan" bs is all the more lame when he has never had a viable strategic plan with which to replace it.
Since he shot the VC on the beach, Kerry never mastered any tactics but retreat.
He mastered the tactical retreat from in country duty after the third minor wound. He advocated tactical retreat of his fellow troops from his return to CONUS in 1970 until 1975. And he has advocated retreat from Iraq after he initially supported the war.
He has never articulated a srategy that would keep his fellow citizens safe.
Three words describe John Kerry:
"The boneless wonder"
(Apologies to Winston Churchill, who used this line to describe former British Prime Minister Ramsey MacDonald)
Another Churchillism comes to mind whenever Kerry is mentioned, said of Clement Attlee, Churchill's successor as PM, "Mr Attlee is a very modest man. Indeed he has much to be modest about."
For John Kerry this would read:
Mr. Kerry is not a very modest man. How unfortunate, as he has so much to be modest about.
Don Imus: A face that was made for radio!
Peace, Maxine
