A 250-year-old tortoise...
... has died. The animal was older than the United States. It doesn't seem that there now exists any animal in the world who is anywhere near as old as was dear Addwaita, "the one and only." Goodbye!

And just three days before retirement ..... MENDOZAAAAA!!!!!!!!
Would you want to live 250 years?
My pet turtle told me it's all downhill after 175...
Sad. One less connection to the past.
Wow....now I understand why in yoruba folklore the tortoise is considered the wisest of all animals. Wonder what stories he would have told had he been able to talk or had we been able to interprete its language?
He's almost the Zelig of the tortoise world. Sad!
I think if he could have talked, he'd pass on this wisdom: "Mmmm, I like daisies."
A "slow post day" at Althouse is capped by an item about a tortoise. Some Fridays are like that.

Tortoise rigor mortis.
Damn, we need a single payer plan to prevent this happening in the future. Plays right into Democrat healthcare themes.
R.I.P.
