I can't believe I'm about to make this point, but . . .

There is no Peppermint Patty in You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown. There's a character just named Patty, who later disappeared from the strips. Peppermint Patty was introduced in August 1966, too late to make it into the 1967 musical.

I'm sure there are people at the New York Times who know this, but they don't write about Supreme Court nominees.
