Yes, the post you linked to really does capture some of Bancroft's specialness. She was absolutely sui generis, and will be sorely missed.
I was fortunate enough (and old enough!) to have been taken as a child to see the original production of "The Miracle Worker," and became a lifelong fan. "The Graduate" only served to seal the deal. Here's my tribute to her.
