This is not satire. This is Gavin Newsom presenting his "truly vulnerable book."

i thought boyfriends were “out”. Do we really want boyfriends for our elected leaders?

Newsom does fit into one particular California niche: Hollywood. He is a polished actor and nothing else. No true leadership skills whatsoever. (Sorry if that hurts Vicky’s feelings).

I'd rather listen to a little kid with a drum.

Does he say "Iran" (pronounced like the country) @1:29?

He reminds me of the Randall Flagg character from Stephen King's _The Stand_.

He's gonna try for president. He's really gonna try. God help us all, if we don't die laughing long enough to elect someone - anyone - else, he'll do for us all what he's done to California.

The Dems appointed Kamala their nominee last time knowing she'd get beat so they could go back to nominating white men.
Kamala is a set of boot prints in a coat of floor paint.

"It was truly painful to write." Any bets on how truly painful it will be to read?

I couldn't make it more than 30 seconds. The best response is the first one I saw--a boring story about Gavin Newsom is exactly the book anyone would expect Gavin Newsom to write.

It takes a truly humble man to spend so much time talking about himself. With a tinkly piano playing in the background.

How much rehearsal time, and how many takes? Music was kinda "donate to abused dogs with sad eyes" commercially.

I think it's a good move politically. He's the governor of the state in which I live and work...and I loathe the fellow. But it's a good move. Many of those white 50+ women will swoon.

Gavin Newsom should be playing Patrick Bateman in the upcoming remake of American Psycho.

I made it to the 0:42 mark. Anything beyond that should be considered cruel and unusual punishment.

I will never not be convinced that this video was created by his enemies using AI.

I like how the Newsom's "more modest upbringing" is symbolized by a photo of him as a child in front of old sofa @0:43.

I lasted 20 seconds. His new vocal fry is really annoying and I believe it's meant to imitate the sound of Bill Clinton's voice.

Gavin Newsom will be very popular with college educated women.

Now how about that 19th amendment and universal suffrage in general…

I am looking forward to the presidential debate between memoir authors discussing who had a tougher childhood. Reminds me of the Monty Python Yorkshireman bit.

Newsom: "When I say house, it was really just a hole in the ground covered by a tarpaulin, but it was a house to us."

Vance: "We were evicted from our hole in the ground. We had to go live in a lake."

Needs alternate chapters by Mitt Romney.

I wonder if his marriage to Kimberly Guilfoyle was challenging. I bet they had hot sex together. is there a lot about hot sex in the book?.....All the classic autobiographies contain an embarrassing admission. This lulls the reader into thinking the writer is giving you the truth: St. Augustine stole from a neighbor's orchard, Rousseau got off being spanked by his nanny, Trotsky would occasionally wet himself when called to recite by grownups. I bet Newsome's done some icky things. Republicans can always count on someone to come forward and dish the dirt. Democrats can always count on someone to come forward and sweep it under the rug. I wonder what Newsome will admit to. We all recognize his present moral grandeur but to establish credibility he has to admit to some personal flaw that he overcame on his hero's journey.

No doubt. No need to bust his balls ladies. Gavin's balls come pre-busted. His lower body is so hetero-flexible he's practically Gumby!

I do not believe for one minute that Gavin Newsome actually wrote that book. So, if it's as cringe as that video, it means he couldn't even hire a competent ghost writer.

FormerLawClerk said...

Is he writing about how he fucked his campaign secretary's wife?

This guy is truly an asshole. If he gets his hands on the reigns of power then America deserves what it gets.

Kimberley Guilfoyle is a San Francisco "type", the Catholic school girl in too short skirts, if you know what I mean. She went to Mercy High (19th Ave across from Stonestown mall, now closed), and they had a reputation. Brassy, short skirts, and, er, outgoing. Low-mid Catholic ethnic.
It was of course a mesalliance, though I'm not sure on which side was the deficit.
Newsom was in the power elite from the beginning, with his Getty connections and relation to Pelosi and co. He was born slick.
She did get into UC Davis, which was selective, so she is no idiot.

He has the same effect on me that Bill Clinton always did.

Gavin Newsome lacks a sense of shame. If he was self aware--which he is not--he'd realize he's a silly doofus. But he has delusions of competence, although he's never demonstrated much of that competence. But hey in California, a doofus can rise--if he,she,xi is a loyal Democrat.

Watched him on the SF Board of Supes, then as mayor and now as governor. He has no vision - wets a finger to pick a direction. Looks the part but has no heart.

two serious questions:

2) what is gas costing in California.. NOW?
