Writes Michelle Goldberg, in "I Thought Graham Platner Was Finished. What I Saw in Maine Changed My Mind" (NYT).
The headline doesn't say why Platner looks finished: He had a big Nazi tattoo on his chest. How does Goldberg get around that? She explains punk culture:
During the 1970s, some punks had deployed Nazi imagery for shock value, but in the 1980s white supremacists started infiltrating the subculture in earnest. The bands Platner loved — Dropkick Murphys, the Dead Kennedys — positioned themselves squarely in opposition to these fascist interlopers. He recalled going to hardcore shows in Bangor in the late 1990s and early 2000s at a time when there were still regular fights between antiracist punks and neo-Nazis. Ever since then, he told me, antifascism has been at the core of his politics.
Many of Platner’s most controversial Reddit posts stem from this antifascist ethos. In 2018, for example, he responded to a poster worried about how a roommate would respond to the purchase of an AR-15. “Tell them that if they expect to fight fascism without a good semiautomatic rifle, they ought to do some reading of history,” he wrote. In another post he wrote, citing the socialist Eugene Debs, “An armed working class is a requirement for economic justice.”...
Republicans, who’ve been painting antifascists as a terrorist threat, would surely relish the chance to run against a man who once — jokingly, he says — referred to himself as an “antifa supersoldier.”
But Platner’s antifa-inflected online history cuts against the idea that he would knowingly sport a Nazi tattoo. As Platner tells it, he first learned that his skull and crossbones had Nazi associations this month....

Flippin’ birdcage liner NYT…
The notion that Donald Trump is unfit to be President is based on accusations that have not held up. The notion that Platner has a NAZI tattoo on his chest is because it is on his chest.
Refusing to see what’s right in front of her, once again.

"...but it's a real beauty, a Teutonic cutie, and how it got here I haven't a clue."
"He's not a real Nazi, you silly people--he just favors Nazi methods in support of communism. What's the big deal?"

+1
"Platner is still a contender because a similar alienation is building among Democrats, and party elites seem to have no idea what to do about it."
Is this really surprising, that a significant portion of the Democrat electorate will knowingly support an Anitfa candiddate?
Well, knock me over with a feather.
Joey Ramone, when asked whether he didn't feel a little bit guilty about being a bad influence with the Nazi stuff, said, "We thought it was funny."
That makes Joey Ramone smarter than a man who thinks he should be a U.S. Senator.
Where do they find these people anyway?
That quote's from memory. Close enough for a blog comment, I'm sure.
Somehow, I get the feeling that, if video emerged of Platner dressed in an SS uniform, goose-stepping past a giant picture of Hitler while giving a Nazi salute, Michelle would find a way to excuse it and bash Trump. These people are sick.
Sometimes you have to elect Nazis to save democracy!!
Well that’s the myth that they want to create. The truth is we had a fair open primary unlike what democrats did in 2016. Obama and Hillary! pushed Bernie out because he would have doomed the horrible woman’s prospects for the nomination. Jeb flamed out, proving “conventional wisdom” about Bush family talent to be opposite of his performance. Trump won the nomination campaigning on the same issues he supported as a private citizen.
We voted. Goldberg doesn’t understand individual agency, how our Constitutional Republic works. She appreciates machine politics. Her ideal is Mamdani a foreigner almost completely financed by other foreigners and pushed by the DNC Media just like Obama, their most successful mythical leader.
Leftists openly embrace their Nazi roots. Progress. #HateLovesAbortion
How did Michelle cover the RNC Convention last summer, the highly diverse MSG event? Same way she presents Plattner?
Diversity, redistributive change, and human rites. Liberals are either the leftists of Nazis psst or their Hamasidol progressions.
nazi tattoos, MAGA, anti-fascist, republican, democrat. I don’t pay attention to any of the labels. I’m watching for who uses coercion. that’s the person I’m opposed to: anybody using coercion, be it social coercion, government power coercion, financial coercion, military coercion.
With the right word games, day can be night, black can be white, and fascism can be anti-fascism.
Democrats have a real problem with Platner. In a general election, you can defend voting for bad people by claiming you voted, not for the person, but for the party. But this is a primary. The people who increased their support for Platner AFTER the tattoo became an issue are choosing the fascist over other Democrats.
There’s no way to sugarcoat that, no matter how shamelessly the Times might try.
Does Michelle Goldberg believe the things she writes or did she toss out all conventional notions of what a journalist does in order to serve the Party.
Nazi Graham Cracker, now with potato, comrade…
’As Platner tells it, he first learned that his skull and crossbones had Nazi associations this month...’
His tattoo is not of a Jolly Roger, it’s a fucking SS totenkopf.
Antifa scum.
Evil and stupid thats goldbergs mo
Hes also an entitled commie moron (antifa my foot)
I tend to think Susan Collins would prefer to run against the Nazi-adjacent Platner rather than leftist Democrat Janet Mills, a former governor.
Platner supports censorship of his political opponents. Platner is pretty explicit about fighting his political opponents with guns. Platner supports jailing his political opponents.
The reason that Platner is popular is because 30-40% of the country agrees with him. They will vote for the Democrat no matter what.
Their real problem is that no matter what you give them it will never be enough. They wont build anything themselves. They want to take other people's stuff. They cannot leave other people alone.
Unfortunately the Democrat Tribe is the norm in history. Most places in the world have been governed by a group of people who asserted dominance through violence and forced everyone else around them into some form of slavery.
They are natural allies of Muslims because Muslims have the same vision of government. Government is just a machine to extract the Jizya and make your tribe rich.
There is nothing special about Platner. There is nothing special about support for Platner. This is how the world has always worked.
What is Special is the United States and the Constitutional Republican system of Government that protected private property from the tribal politics that Democrats embody.
Michelle Goldberg and the NYT are pushing to defeat a centrist, women's rights advocate Susan Collins in favor of a white, male with a Nazi tattoo who affects to be a working class every man.
We're all populists now.
Commie militia vs nazis both against the weimar republic
Thats really turrible bilge
The ‘conventional notions’ were all wrong. It was bullshit spread in political honey wagons. Trump shows the dumbest businessman in the world makes Presidenting look easy.
As Platner tells it, he first learned that his skull and crossbones had Nazi associations this month
It’s another Liz Warren ‘GE doesn’t pay taxes!!!’ moment. The more they repeat the talking point the dumber they sound…
I guess when you’re not willing to switch to popular policies you get ‘better messaging’ like this…
"As Platner tells it, he first learned that his skull and crossbones had Nazi associations this month..."
If you believe that, you'll believe anything.
I don’t think voters outside the (popping) blue bubbles are going to see an equivalence to Trump’s popularity, no matter how hard they try to fluff the Nazi tattoo guy…
This was after the militia scare in the 90s then there was the white supremacy eleventy!!
They never spell out what 'these popular policies' are
"During the 1970s, some punks had deployed Nazi imagery for shock value, but in the 1980s white supremacists started infiltrating the subculture in earnest. The bands Platner loved — Dropkick Murphys, the Dead Kennedys — positioned themselves squarely in opposition to these fascist interlopers."
I am not really aware of the ins and outs of Punk Rock culture, but I will say that The Dead Kennedys did put out a song called, "Nazi Punks Fuck Off" in 1981. So Michelle's explanation doesn't sound completely implausible to me. Also, most of the actions of the Left of late that are associated with Anti-Semitism are linked with Israel-Palestine. And from the point of view of the typical American Lefty even the most egregious examples of this conduct, like targeting a Jewish person and chasing them into a library, are not viewed by the Lefty as Anti-Semitic and definitely not Nazism, but rather Pro-Palestinian, Anti-Colonial, Pro-Racial Justice, or insert whatever Lefty blah blah might feel good to them. While I definitely wouldn't say I completely agree with Michelle's explanation I will say "maybe..." And the intonation on that maybe goes up at the end fairly heavily.

See my comment above. First Goldberg has to push to defeat leftist Democrat Janet Mills in the primary, a former governor who probably has the better chance against Collins.
Trump was elected for putting forth a business plan that did not include Diversity, labor and environmental arbitrage, ethnic Springs, redistributive change, and entertaining abortive ideation. Leftists progressively embrace their liberal roots.
Grok:
"Evidence for Dropkick Murphys — Formed in 1991 as a Celtic punk band, Dropkick Murphys have consistently positioned themselves against fascism through lyrics, actions, and collaborations. Key examples:Their 2022 album This Machine Still Kills Fascists adapts unpublished Woody Guthrie lyrics (Guthrie was a prominent anti-fascist folk icon) into punk tracks railing against authoritarianism, white supremacy, and modern far-right figures like Putin and Orbán.
In 2013, frontman Ken Casey physically confronted and ejected a skinhead giving a Nazi salute during a concert encore, shouting, "Nazis are not f—ing welcome at a Dropkick Murphys show!"
In 2022, they publicly challenged neo-Nazi group NSC-131 to a fight after the group misused their song in propaganda, aligning with local anti-fascists and residents in Boston.
Broader activism includes pro-union, anti-war stances and performing at 2025 anti-Trump veteran rallies, emphasizing their rejection of fascist-adjacent politics like MAGA.
Evidence for Dead Kennedys The Dead Kennedys, a hardcore punk band active from 1978–1986 (with reunions), were foundational in combating fascist infiltration in punk's early days. Their opposition was explicit and influential:Their 1981 single "Nazi Punks Fuck Off" (from the In God We Trust, Inc. EP) directly targeted neo-Nazis and far-right skinheads attending shows, criticizing their hypocrisy in a scene built on anti-authoritarianism and individuality. It included a free anti-swastika armband, which became a symbol for Anti-Racist Action.
Frontman Jello Biafra wrote the song after Nazi skinheads harassed fans and disrupted gigs, framing it as a call to reclaim punk from racist violence.
Broader catalog, like "California Über Alles" (1979), satirized fascist tendencies in politics (e.g., Reaganism as "yuppie totalitarianism"), reinforcing their role as punk's anti-fascist spokespeople."
Of course ''killing fascists' has become killing cops in general
Upset at a Nazi Tattoo = moronic
Platner = antifascist moron
And I love this: "Republicans, who’ve been painting antifascists as a terrorist threat". No, they haven't thats a lie. They've been attacking antifa. Antifa is a terrorist organization. They tried to murder ICE agents.
Why does goldberg have a column? She's incredibly medicore in everyway. THe only thing I can think of is she reflects the demo that reads the NYTs. Jewish, Female, Liberal/left, and midwit.
Can Democrats abort the fetus, cannibalize her profitable parts, sequester her carbon, and have her, too? It's a social contagion of transhumane conception.
Because she is the jew hating white hating drone
Like Iman said way up top,”Furious? Meh.”
Ask any normal republican voter and they’ll tell you they were disappointed. After Reagan we got a succession of mostly northeastern liberalish Republican presidents and nominees. They would run on things we wanted and do things we didn’t once elected (“Read my lips: no new taxes”). We were serially repeatedly disappointed by the candidates too. McCain. Romney. So any sentient actual Republican would not have used “furious” to describe us. We were closer to disgusted by their performances.
That is exactly how we got Trump. He unequivocally said he would shut the border and build a wall. Only DC inertia and GOPe got in the way. He was reelected because he actually did what he ran on. It’s so fucking simple it takes a NYT intellectual to miss the point.
“Republicans, who’ve been painting antifascists as a terrorist threat". No, they haven't thats a lie.’
No. It’s the truth. Acceptance and a fondness for fascism seem to be rising on the right. Look at Tucker Carlson and the Heritage Foundation and what they had to say about Carlson interviewing Nick Fuentes and barely pushing back on Fuentes rhetoric. They said Fuentes shouldn’t be rejected. All the anti-Antifa hysteria is fear mongering against people that reject fascism. Aren’t we ALL antifascists or shouldn’t we be if we embrace a Representative Republic and democracy?
Isn’t it amazing how no NYT reporter can ever see the connection between the Tea Party and Trump eventually being elected?
Althouse and Goldberg have a history going back to the old Blogging Heads days. Althouse established complete superiority over Goldberg. If you want to see how it is done, go find the episode where they discuss Sarah Palin's autobiography.
Shes just an apologist for the worst people terrorist criminala et al
She presents the worse arguments badly since salon days
Antifascists and transgenders are alike: they are the opposite of what they pretend to be, and demand that you celebrate the pretense, not the reality.
’All the anti-Antifa hysteria is fear mongering against people that reject fascism.’
Antifa rejects what they claim is fascism.
Michele Goldberg's sinecure depends on seeing things a certain way, and this is it.
Platner is a silver-spoon confection, his working-class identity is already falling apart, and the tattoo story, well - just another anti-Semite in a seeming rising wave of it on all sides.
He's just a mediocre guy with rich parents that educated him well - and now he's an oyster farmer, part time, and a dive tour leader, part time. The Progressive Democrats have hit on him as a way to capture Susan Collin's Senate seat. I think he's unserious, even as a bad boy.
I'm sure they'll throw lots of money at his campaign, but I think Collins is a little more wiley than he is.
Who’s more fascist than the anti-fascists?
"antifascism has been at the core of his politics.."
with antifascism being like antipasto..
BEFORE the meal.. the appetizer
now, let's ask him WHY he has a 1919 tattoo?
Why do the worst people get promoted by the Times
"Antifascism" is literally the wolf-whistle of Antifa, which Platner admits to belonging to along with his wife. These Antifa cells took root in New England among leftitarians (leftists and radical libertarians, with the leftists leading) well over a decade ago, inspired by the anarcho-communist writings appearing in Adbusters and other purportedly "antifascist" publications, and at events like Porcfest and Anarchopulco, attracting wealthy, cosseted, and eventually violent trust funder types. Platner would be a good catch for such groups thanks to his education, money, but especially knowledge of military and weapon training and his ability to pose as a faux "working man," both useful for Antifa's dreams of violent revolution. His threats of armed violence against conservatives should disqualify him from running for office, but stupid and gullible leftists fall for this sort of thing all the time, as demonstrated by several on this comment thread.
Watch the documentary "The Anarchists" to get a sense of this destructive ideology and its dangerous and naive followers. Amazon Prime and HBO Max, I think, carry it.
Back in the Sixties and Seventies, the FBI successfully infiltrated domestic terrorist groups like the Weather Underground because they were looking for people who, like Platner, posessed working class appeal and armed combat knowledge. Platner's a true believer and thus a dream come true for Antifa. His Acadia Action group is an anarcho-communist organization loosely organized with countless others across America. They are anti-Semitic, anti-police, anti-property ownership (as only the rich tend to be, excluding themselves) and advocate eliminating the middle-class and committing acts of violence against police and those who expose or oppose them.
Fascism and Antifa are dual identities of the same organization.
Grok said:

When first released, "California Uber Alles" referenced the first Jerry Brown attempt at governance, not Ronald Reagan. Reagan had yet to become governor.
Apparently to Goldberg, "Presidential fitness" requires one to be a lawyer and/or a career politician. No thanks, Michelle, I'd rather draw from the unfit pool of people who actually created something outside of a life in Government.
The far-left is totalitarian. The far-right is anarchist. The left-right nexus is leftist.
Not only domestically
Calling oneself anti-fascist is the same as calling oneself a vampire hunter or a zombie killer. It's just cosplay, because fascism doesn't exist as a contemporary political movement.
Moreover, Republicans aren't opposed to antifa because antifa claims to be about fighting fascism. Republicans (and all normies) oppose antifa because antifa are psychopathic goons.
Ever since then, he told me, antifascism has been at the core of his politics.
Since Democrats use antifascist to describe Nazis, it is consistent.
They are communist insurgents
As bad as Platner and his tattoo are, it doesn’t quite compare to Mamdani’s support for Islamic terrorist and communism. Yet Mamdani is likely to win and has Democrat leadership support.
Hes the same bag of peanuts
Has any dem denounced him
On the one hand, I could see not knowing at the time what it was. On the other hand, I have seen credible reports that he referred to the tattoo as "my Totenkopf," which would pretty strongly suggest that he figured it out at some point and chose to leave it unaltered until it became politically problematic.
But Platner’s antifa-inflected online history cuts against the idea that he would knowingly sport a Nazi tattoo.
"Platner’s deleted social media posts surfaced last week, including those from 2013 in which he asked why Black people “don’t tip” and suggesting people concerned about being raped shouldn’t be inebriated around people they don’t feel comfortable with, among other comments. " Maine Monitor, October 21, 2025.
Judgment and labels are closely aligned with Diversity dogma and DEIst culture. Critical Diversity Theory advises us to be skeptical of colors, motives, and means in cohorts that embrace class-disordered ideologies.
Hes quite a moron and an imbecile
antifascism has been at the core of his politics.
In our modern world, does antifascism mean the same thing as fascism? Kind of like, "one man's freedom fighter is another man's terrorist"?
My dad was antifascist when he was dropping bombs on marshaling yards in Italy from a B-24. He didn't act anything like those black bloc pricks.
The game Inga is playing, and poorly, is “one conservative believes something, therefore all conservatives believe in that thing.” Caught up in the liberal hive mind, she has no capacity to understand the Big Tent, much less the self-evident reality that in the 21st century people who insist upon thinking for themselves are more apt to be conservative than liberal.
For generations Jews have — with encouragement from America’s left — conditioned themselves to look for anti-semitism from the right and only from the right. But the murderous, keffiyah-wearing hoodlums in their tent cities on campuses who get their jollies from harassing Jewish students are definitely not conservative.
If I ever meet Tucker Carlson I plan to hit him hard, right in the mouth. Ditto Inga.
Hes also an entitled commie moron (antifa my foot)
This is a good point - why is it that everyone who claims to be "antifa" (anti-fascist) invariably favors giant, heavy-handed government (which cozies right up with fascism)?
Liberals are disenchanted with Dezis, so they will elect a NYzi and Nazis. Throw another baby on the barbie, it's a fetus... feature of left-wing ideologies, a wicked solution. Will no one abort this troublesome "burden", some have brayed.
Pretty damning critique in the Guardian
this chase for the white male vote
You can't steep yourself in identity politics and then say we like the Nazi guy. That's not going to fly.
All you really need to do is quit demonizing white males and just abandon identity politics. But instead of admitting you were wrong, Democrats have decided to go Big Tent Racist.
Antifa = fascism, but with me at the helm instead of you.
In our modern world, does antifascism mean the same thing as fascism?
@Ranfomizer, no. “Antifascism” means hard core communist. Antifascists and fascist look similar because underneath both are autocratic. Anither camouflage code phrase to hard core communist is “Democratic Socialist.” Put a Democratic Socialist in power and you won’t find anything democratic in the result at all. Gompetent, either.

No surprise and nothing new. She says she understands how military members think because she had a daughter who was a Navy nurse. She also knows how conservatives think because she lives in Waukesha.
Coalesce against the machine
’Put a Democratic Socialist in power and you won’t find anything democratic in the result at all.’
New York City is soon to become patient zero.
"She says she understands how military members think because she had a daughter who was a Navy nurse. She also knows how conservatives think because she lives in Waukesha."
keep in mind, that igna has Explicitly stated that She can read people's minds.
I don't really care about a guy's body art when voting. There are much much bigger issues than an allegedly offensive tattoo. No, he's not a real Nazi coming for the Jews. They're playing up the anti-semitism, "our lives are engangered" for political purposes. Same as it ever was these past decades. The American Jew is safe, and doing fine. Let's focus on America today? Our economic division is the real enemy, not make-believe Nazis hiding under the bed...
Get ahold of yourselves. Let the VOTERS decide. No, he should not drop out of the race over this...
Evidence now emerging that Mamdani was not the product of an organic grass-roots preference campaign, but rather as an astro-turfed product of (drumroll) George Soros.
"...The 34-year-old State Assemblyman's team has always claimed that he rose from obscurity to become New York City's mayoral front-runner thanks to an organic, grassroots movement involving many small donations and hundreds of young people with backpacks canvassing on his behalf...."
..."The findings, from conservative investigative site White Collar Fraud, alleged that a network of tax-exempt organizations connected to billionaire financier Soros shrewdly coordinated political and ground operations to support Mamdani in a scheme that involved laundering more than $40million in charitable donations through nonprofits and redirecting them into political activity..."
From the start, I've smelled something fishy about the rise of this faker. His popularity was artificial, it seemed to me.
Hating Jews is only cool on the left.
So much about these statements is wrong.
"A decade ago, Republican voters, furious with their leaders... tossed out all conventional notions of presidential fitness to coalesce behind Donald Trump."
Aside from the idea that the coalescing electorate (not just Republicans, by the way) tossed out all conventional notions about fitness for the presidency, Goldberg ignores Hillary's lack of fitness for the role, and her unlikeability. I don't think there was any fury against the (R) leadership, rather, more of a reluctance to give up the presidency to someone as noxious as HRC.
"Platner is still a contender because a similar alienation is building among Democrats, and party elites seem to have no idea what to do about it."
Platner is still a contender in their eyes, because it's too late to change horses. Patty elites are willing to let it ride and see what happens. Prior history can be erased as long as no one's paying attention.
Soros and his family need to be removed from our political system. they are a cancer.
Aggie:
"a network of tax-exempt organizations connected to billionaire financier Soros shrewdly coordinated political and ground operations to support Mamdani in a scheme that involved laundering more than $40million in charitable donations through nonprofits and redirecting them into political activity...""
No shocked at all. this is political corruption.
What leftists like Inga refuse to actually do is define fascism. What is fascism? They tout being anti-fascist.... but if you took Adolf's political platform and removed "National Socialist Party" from the author line, it would be hard to distinguish from today's Democrat party platform. Adjusted for America versus Germany, of course... American politics doesn't really have a concept of needing to conquer Poland.
No, leftists like Inga wail against fascism hoping you don't realize that their definition of fascist is "anyone I don't like" instead of the actual definition that Mussolini and Adolf used.
After all, "fasces" is an Italian word originally. Popularized by Mussolini. Means "Stronger together" as in a fasces... a bundle of sticks. Stronger Together was Hillary Clinton's campaign slogan... Inga's party is literally running fascist candidates and she wants us to vote for them. Just don't call them fascist!
Antifa are a terrorist threat. Because they are TERRORISTS.
Antifa thugs commit terror. they murder people. they commit arson. they harass people....
Antifa are leftist brownshirts - and they work on behalf of the corrupt democrat party.
Bear in mind that, to Michele Goldberg, the "conventional notions of presidential fitness" (Which Republican voters rashly tossed away) includes Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. At some point in every story of political decline, the conventional overwhelms the fitness.
Forced government control of health care is a form of fascism. Demo-dolts like Inag have no clue.
“ Guthrie was a prominent anti-fascist folk icon”
No, he was a communist who took whatever position the USSR took.
The left: 'Antifa are fighting fascists.' You know - harassing and committing violence against citizens who refuse to vote for/support THE corrupt democrats. Those who won't submit, will be forced. The dems will call it "Anti-fascism!"
Also the left: 'Antifa - there is no such thing.'
Also the left: 'We are all Antifa now and we are fighting fascism! '
Also the left: Loyalists on the radical left alter reality and history, and fill their void with outright lies about WWII. Fact - "Antifa" came from the Soviets. (fitting)
The GOP establishment and Democrats agree that the standard definition of presidential fitness is someone will lose the election, or failing that, will govern like a Democrat. Republican voters decided that was a poor standard and switched to someone who will fight and win.
He's a Commie and a Nazi. He's like the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, all rolled up in one guy.
And he says the Democrats are trying to destroy his life.
The funniest line from this oyster fisherman is that he wants to "shuck the oligarchy."
Already the Democrats in Maine are jumping ship. And Michelle Goldberg is taking Sid Vicious home to meet the parents.
Mom: "Why does he have a Nazi tattoo?"
Michelle: "He's a punk rocker, Mom."
Mom: "I thought he was running for the Senate."
Michelle: "He's a punk rocker running for the Senate."
I like the Sex Pistols, but damn if I want to put them in charge of Maine. Are you familiar with punk rockers, Michelle?
Nominate whatever Nazi Commie you want to nominate. I don't actually think the gentle Democrats of Maine will follow your endorsements. And so this is an act of journalistic hari-kiri, giving us all another reason not to read anything you write.
Put a bow tie on him, he's done.
So This Maine democrat is either a Nazi or an "Antifa" . LOL.
MadTownGuy said..."Goldberg ignores Hillary's lack of fitness for the role, and her unlikeability. I don't think there was any fury against the (R) leadership, rather, more of a reluctance to give up the presidency to someone as noxious as HRC."
In 2016 I was voting against Hillary. I almost didn't vote at all (which would have been unprecedented for me), but Hillary was too noxious for me to sit on the sidelines.
In 2020 and 2024 I was voting for Trump.
But, by all means, let's defer to Michelle Goldberg to explain the other side of the isle. Is she related to Inga?
“ The GOP establishment and Democrats agree that the standard definition of presidential fitness is someone will lose the election, or failing that, will govern like a Democrat. Republican voters decided that was a poor standard and switched to someone who will fight and win.”
I was chatting with an older Democrat gentleman at the local coffee shop. He lamented that the GOP doesn’t have people like Mitt Romney run for president. I asked if he voted for him and of course he said no. I responded that people like Romney always lose. He didn’t see the problem with that part.
If you believe that, you'll believe anything.
If you write that as Goldberg does then a reasonable presumption is that she knows it is factually false, and i personally assume she saw the same video I did which was internet famous the day BEFORE he decided to cover the tattoo he is bragging about on video making clear he knows what it is and likes how it disturbs others, and so I’ll move on with the presumption she is a willing Nazi propagandist.
YOUR rules lefties. We’re just playing by them now.
’…I've smelled something fishy about the rise of this faker.’
Same for AOC. Let’s be thankful Mamdani was born in Uganda.
@ Wince
I always read your comments.
So what is going on? Is defending the 'Trump is Hitler and his supporters are Nazis' narrative the most important thing? Because Platner and his tattoo are a threat to that narrative. Platner's candidacy shows the Dems aren't really worried about Nazis in the same way the BLM protests showed they didn't really believe what they said about the threat of Covid.
Or do they see Platner as an important part of a wider effort to increase the party's appeal to the white male demographic?
Democrats inspire assassination culture.
Look at all the Tesla dealerships that were fire-bombed and vandalized. All because Musk dared to walk away from the corrupt evil Democratic party.
20-something boys on REDDIT are being used to commit the left's assassinations. Then the left lie and tell us conservatives are doing the killing.
Does Goldberg remember how the Dems and the media pushed Trump hard in a very crowded primary?
That is almost the bast part of the Trump era — the Dems created it.
We need to see the silver lining of the Platner phenomenon. It allows us to see more clearly what we face. The fairy tale of leftist benevolence is shown in all of its phony violent nihilism. Not even Maine Democrats are stupid enough.
Does Platner have a chance of winning?
TosaGuy - ha - sometimes I forget that. But the leftwing media really did push and promote Trump, hard, prior to 2016.
Joe Scarborough is the best example. Soon after Trump won - Fraud Scarborough immediately shuffled back in line to ankle-bite Trump non-stop. Scar-bro promoted all of Hillary's concocted lies about Trump. Russia stole the election!
When it comes to concocting lies- Hillary is ace.
She also built the Obama birth certificate lie. Sadly - that one was bought by many on the gullible right.
Self-labeling has its uses though. For example if someone describes themselves as antiracist I know they’re a racist. If they self-identify as antifascist I know they are fascist.

Replace Mitt Romney with Ron Desantis and you would be in the same place.
It is the same reason Ann votes for "boring" candidates.
It is really just lowest common denominator tribal politics.
The Dead Kennedys did have one song many of us found relatable: "Too Drunk to Fuck."
The democrats are not hard to understand in this Maine guy and the VA AG candidate. They can’t reject one of them without rejecting half their base, so they are forced to punt.
From the internets:
“… Biafra, the former leader of the Dead Kennedys, was watching a show by the Fixtures when, according to Biafra, a slam dancer crashed through the crowd, landing on Biafra's leg and breaking it. "I asked him for an ID so I could deal with it and leave the cops out of it," said Biafra. "He laughed."
According to Biafra, the slam dancer, whose nickname is Creton, said, "Well, you're such a rich rock star, you can deal with it yourself."
An argument ensued. By Biafra's account, Creton then pushed him to the floor: "All of his friends - five or six thugs - jumped on me and kicked me in the head from both sides. As they kicked me, they were yelling, 'Sellout rock star, kick him.'"
___
The Left: give them room, they’ll beat on each other soon enough.
And, as far as I know, the Dead Kennedys are still fighting amongst themselves over money.
The commune always goes to Hell once the second guy joins.
I am Laslo.
They want HR 1 that will make their police state possible as well as stacking the court they thought fetterman would let that happen
the MSM gave Trump lots of coverage in 2015 because they thought Trump would cause chaos and damage Jeb or Cruz. Then in 2016, when it became clear that Trump would win the nomination, they thought Trump was a crazy nut who would lose in a landslide to Queen Hillary.
I still remember shock and tears when Trump won. Matt Lewis and Bill Scher at BHTV were practically in tears. With Bill calling the USA a "racist country" and whining that he'd have to tell his little daughter a woman couldn't be POTUS.
Good times.
Laslo - Indeed!
Even when the Democrats get taken over by brainless radicals Fen's Law lives on.
Fen's Law: "The Left doesn't really believe in the things they lecture the rest of us about."
Fen's law is hard to find on the web now, and Grok tried to tell me Fen introduced it on X in the late 90's, but I helped Grok find it by telling him that X didn't exist in the 90's and I remember it from Althouse Blog in the early 2000's. (Grok didn't know it's own platformed didn't exist back then - smart dude.)
Grok: "September 2006, in "'I do hope we can somehow 'get' Althouse'": He calls out lefty bloggers for exclusionary tactics, noting it's "anti-persuasion" and distasteful. (Althouse herself replies to him: "Fen: LOL.")
Broader Pattern: Fen's style back then—wry, combative, focused on leftist inconsistencies—matches his X persona. He references the 1990s Clinton hypocrisy as a foundational gripe, but no verbatim "Fen's Law" phrasing appears in searchable archives. It's possible it started as an offhand quip in a comment thread that didn't get indexed (Blogger comments from that era are spotty in web crawls), or evolved verbally/online over time before getting formalized.
Althouse's blog was a hotbed for this stuff: Centrist law prof hosting debates on everything from Clinton scandals to emerging blog wars, with commenters like Fen adding the edge. RationalWiki even nods to the "tasteless" vibe of those early threads, including Clinton-era jabs (e.g., blue dress references). "
Antifa thugs (D) will kill you, on the street in cold blood - if you dare wear a Make America Great Again hat.
prove me wrong.
Leftists use words as weapons. They don't care about technical definitions. It may make you feel good to point out that some Republican isn't a Nazi or fascist or racist. but they don't care. That's why your 16 page memo on why they're wrong gets thrown in the trash - unread.
But conservatives and others love to do the "see here Lefty, you're wrong. Please be reasonable" bit. It gets nowhere but it makes them feel superior. Of course, the Left just laughs and keeps calling people racist/fascist/nazi.
Never Forget Biden's creepy nazi-like Red-speech /Anti- Make America Great Again Speech - where he de-humanized half of the nation.
They called Charlie Kirk - mr. reasonable conservative. Mr. Lets just have a debate a "fascist" "Nazi" and "Racist". And then some leftist shot him in the throat while the rest of Left shrugged its shoulders or laughed.
That's what we're up against. But if you like the fantasy of "We're all just Americans, gosh darn it. We all want whats best for the country". Then go for it.
@bagoh20: "Fen's law is hard to find on the web now, and Grok tried to tell me Fen introduced it on X in the late 90's..."
Hah - I tried a DuckDuckGo search on Fen's Law and it returned with a bunch of lawsuits related to Fen-Phen drug problems.
Then I tried posting the whole quote, and it returned a Legal Insurrection blog entry on the Larissa Alexander 'Stand Your Ground' case, from 2013, where buried in the comments, was a comment by someone named "Fen": "Fen’s Law: The Left doesn’t really believe in the things they lecture the rest of us about.
ie., this isn’t about any double standard re Marissa Alexander, its about leaving citizens to the mercy of roving brownshirt gangs, entirely dependent on the State for protection and defense..."
and then: "Fen’s Law is the result of a decade of being lectured to by feminists about sexual harassment in the workplace. Then along comes Clinton: sexual discrimination (Jones, Lewinsky), sexual harassment (Jones), and sexual assault (Wiley). All-of-a-sudden the feminists decided that “its just about sex, MoveOn.”
The internet is sometimes 'forever', but increasingly is misinterpreted by A.I. in a way that will eventually become the quoted 'internet history' itself.
Platner's three top campaign officials have resigned in the last 10 days........more shoes are going to drop.
"Grok didn't know it's own platformed didn't exist back then - smart dude."
AI Assist served me up a Wisconsin football schedule that it claimed was for 2025, but looking backwards several years, as far as I can tell, never happened at all. When AI can't even get simple, easily checked factual information you have to be leery of the stuff that's less easily checked (and is, therefore, the raison d'etre of the thing in the first place).
If the Left didn't have completely flexible ethical standards, they would not have any ethical standards at all. As I wrote the other night, I don't think Platner's tattoos are disqualifying for the office he seeks but I also know that, were Platner a Republican candidate for the senate seat, Goldberg would be singing a completely different tune this morning. She is just being intellectually dishonest and I think pretty much everyone, left and right, know it.
How many more shoes are needed before a size 19 Florsheim Steel-toed Wingtip is planted in Nazi Graham Cracker’s ass, thus giving him da boot!?!?!?
Hes just an evil human being thats why they stand by him same with mamdani hasan piker in a different skin
Democrats have fallen under the spell of Fecesism…
They are literally full of shit.
"Republicans, who’ve been painting antifascists as a terrorist threat" A little superfluous, I know, but: Republicans painting is just a variation on Republicans pouncing. Are any progs getting tired of the trope, or does it still work inside their bubble?
Bronto sized
BLM protests showed they didn't really believe what they said about the threat of Covid.
Or black lives. I'd forgotten about Fen's Law - thanks for the reminder!
"Fury" is not typical of Republicans. It does seem, however, to be Democrats' stock in trade, at least at this point.
It was ricochet fast from packwood (respectable) republicsn being churlish to clinton, degenerate hillbilly
Black liberation army
He's not a Nazi, but it's clear that he's unstable and drawn to extremes. I understand the appeal: he's not a politician and doesn't talk like a politician. That's what's been said about Trump, but Trump isn't drawn to extremes like Platner. Trump was focused on getting things done outside the political world, not in taking up radical poses.
As Platner tells it, he first learned that his skull and crossbones had Nazi associations this month....
Platner is enough of a politician to know how to lie. Quick learner ...
The Democrats have been acting exactly like the Devil's gang in every horror movie like "The Devil's advocate", "Rosemary's Baby", and a million others. Destroy anything good. Push anything destructive. Blame others.
The left inspire violence - then deny it - when violence happens.
Yes yes yes. The left and Democrats are evil stupid retards bent on the destruction of this country. And guess what, they feel the same way about you people. It's almost as if this was by design. It's plain to sea that the algorithms driven by large language models are influencing people to the point of irrational exuberant hatred of their neighbors and family. AI's plan is not to murder us with robots it's to get us to murder each other voluntarily. How dois it feel to be sucked into that vortex? I am become meat puppet.
Beef or pork
Beef and pork and lamb
For you, long pork
Not a cannibal
“How does Goldberg get around that?” Secular progressive American Jews, like most blacks, can “get around” anything that might put them off Democrats. Note various “Jews for Mamdani” ads. Mamdani’s co-religionists would happily annihilate Jews or condemn them to dhimmitude. Goldberg and her ilk are useful idiots.
Howard (12:01): “And guess what, [Democrats] feel the same way about you people.” The difference: They have TDS. We have receipts.
Do we expect anything different? Heck, the NAACP just endorsed a white woman over a black woman veteran for Virginia governor.
Then explain why the left celebrates the murder of an innocent man for debating. Tell us why they call for the murder of their own countrymen, or why they would actually brag about killing their own unborn children, etc. etc. Inform us how cutting off the sexual organs and ruining children is compassionate. Tell us why they would let their citizens and veterans go unpaid or homeless while funding people who broke the law to sneak into the country, or show how the right is doing something similar.
“I am become meat puppet.”
Says Howard, as he awaits his hot beef injection, with a
follow-up anal pork probe.
Maybe it's just me, but defending this pretentious trust-fund Hotchkiss hard guy RUNNING FOR US SENATOR by arguing that he got the Nazi tattoo by accident because he didn't understand which punk rock movement he subscribed to back in the day (but he's still got that punk ethos!) is not a winning position.
When it's Republicans: Dog Whistle!
When it's Democrats: Don't believe what you can plainly see!
the truth is he would be a reliable vote for whichever hive mind, apparently schumer does not qualify, who would be the successor,
Howard said...

Explain to me then Howard how are we supposed to get along with Democrats?
How should we try to reason with them?
What should we try that we haven't already tried?
They explicitly censor us. They make up new rules to throw us in jail. They cheer when we are killed.
Really do come up with something creative for us.
Either that or admit that I am right about the Democrat party and the 30-40% of the country that will never be a healthy part of a free society.
He had the tattoo covered up, not removed.
Is it fair to say he still has the deaths head tattoo, just not visible?
I have read that there is national socialist imagery in the cover up as well but I don't see it
Why not remove the tattoo? Unless he really is a National Socialist?
I
Just by way of no harm, as late as 1936 fdr was still telling people he was a f as n of Mussolini the man and Fascism the ideology.
Planter is nothing new.
John Henry
It's simplistic and reprehensible to label your political opponents as fascists. One might call such rhetoric fascistic. I suppose they think that it's worth it if they can keep jack booted thugs like Susan Collins out of the Senate.....Here's an interesting historical footnote: In point of fact, Stalin was for a time a far more useful ally of Hitler than Franco. Of the two, Franco and Stalin, Franco was the anti-fa........The Khmer Rouge killed 25% of their own population. I wonder why fascism is considered the single, greatest evil political movement of our time. Why don't edgy rock groups ever mock crazed left wing movements?
