The "No Kings" rally in Madison was very mellow. Lots of homemade signs and costumes. People milling and lolling about in the sunshine and shade.

Liked the Youtube video. Gave a good feel of what was going on. Looks like a good place to pick up chicks. If you're over 60 or a lesbian.

What a massive, heaving crowd. How many dozen? How many of them are there in service of the event, i.e. selling something?

Mason G said...

Based on the video, lots of white people there. Not many who weren't. Very diverse.

Photo #5 : "Dykes for Democracy." That's a new one for me, but shows the outstanding inclusive nature of the entire performance.

The No kings protest in my area had a lot of American flags. The word had gone out to the Leftists - that ordinarily wouldn't use touch an icky USA flag with a 10 foot pool -to appear patriotic. So, they picked up the provided flags but didn't wave them. No doubt they'll be used to clean up dog poop tommorrow.

It too was very mellow. And very old.

Hopefully, someone will explain the lack of fire in the anti-Trump crowd in 2024, compared to the absolute hysteria in 2020. Since your average Libtard just follows the party line and never thinks, it must be because the Liberal Establishment Elite stopped being scared of Trump.

Question for those in Madison. If someone tried to stage a Pro=Trump rally in Madison, would it be allowed to be "Mellow"? Or would antifa or some leftist group show up to make sure "violence broke out"?

rehajm said...

It does kinda look like lots of folks pining for the fjords. Will they make it to the next Presidential election?

Jaq said...

"Or would antifa or some leftist group show up to make sure "violence broke out"?"

That's what Shitler did, he sent his brownshirts to create violence at opposition rallies to make them seem like a violent movement. So the people using fascist tactics are....

did posthumous voting pass in WI?

I guess the huge crowds of millions must have been somewhere else.

I like the T. Rex. No tyrants! No kings! Unless they’re dinosaurs.

Was the rally successful? Are all those people who were opposed to Trump before the rally still opposed to the Orange Hitler? Did they convince any MAGA folks to burn their hats and join them?

Inquiring minds want to know.

It says, "Dick" on the other side. I suppose it's anti - dick taters, but it might just as easily be for them. Hard to tell.

How long was Joe Biden (or the autopen, anyway) in the White House? 4 years, wasn't it?

Thanks, Mary Beth! Clever enough, I guess… ;)

So there are dozens, maybe even a couple hundred, people in Madison who don't like Trump.

Ok.

This proves what?

I already knew there were about 70 million people who preferred Harris to Trump at the last election. If anything, this suggests that opposition to Trump has declined.

Violence would break out.

My wife and I decided to have dinner at a place that allowed for going past the main protest area, mentioned earlier. At about 430PM there were still a few dozen people. Looked like a younger crowd, but much smaller and still largely white.

My wife mentioned that some friends of ours had FB'd their participation, and as an indulgence for my wife I honked once as we passed.

Had to compete with Badgers football. Less of a crowd than the Farmers Market. Looks like a low key social event. Great weather.

"This proves what?"

That our Constitutional Republic is in peril.

Mason G said...

"Violence would break out."

Leftist shitweasels would make sure of that. And the right would be blamed for it by the MSM.

Change my mind.

The original communist program was anti-monarchist. As in the Paris commune, Victor Hugo and Karl Marx, the journalist, not the later metaphysical being they turned him into. The original prime hate object was Napoleon III.
An ancestor of ours was exiled from Spain on account of, well, being a comunist avant la lettre, labor organizer and the 19th century equivalent of antifa. As it was the year before the Paris commune "communist" wasnt a word yet.

Democrats do not know how to lose.

@Peachy+2, at 79 years of age I assert that there's nothing wrong with being old and white. Not having a new thought since 1969, there's something wrong with that. However being white is something you're born with and getting old, well that happens to all of us who aren't seriously unlucky.

And Democrats certainly do know how to lose; they do it all the time. What they don't understand is how to win without cheating. For a start, telling 50 percent of the population that being born with a penis is somehow evil, and curses them with toxic masculinity, well that's not a good start on building any sort of a coalition. Telling people with black or brown skin that their skin color how they're supposed to vote -- or else -- well that doesn't help either.

Looking at Made’s pictures, the first thought that came to my mind was to wonder how long it’s been since a lefty nonviolent protest was actually, you know, not violent.

Think about it. With the mainstream media labeling violent riots as “mostly peaceful protests,” do today’s journalists even have words to describe nonviolent protests?

OK Team,
For the No Kings protest, the orders are: we're doing anarchy and nihilism. So, no organizing and, crowd marshals, you make damn sure there is none. Protestors, make your own sign. Do the homemade look. No leaders, no fiery speakers - wander about, wondering what the point is, that's the point. Cartoon characters. Nihilism is fun - that's the orders.

PS
My Counter-protest sign

MSM pulling protest numbers from the same place they pull Gaza genocided children numbers. Article after article from around the country now talking about the "hundreds" who showed up, breathlessly reporting "1,000" protesters when for weeks they were predicting thousands and tens of thousands.
It was a fat flop and the only people who support the Democrat Party now are gaseous old hippies, mentally ill gen x women and their weakling cucks, plus the usual racists of color, illegal aliens, domestic terrorists, pedophiles and sexual degenerates that have long been the base of the (D)espicable Party.
I'm quite certain that every single libtard commenter at Althouse fits into one of those categories.

Tina Trent said...

The Women's International League for Peace and Freedom grannies used to be far better organized about these events. They would drive away the guys waving moldy old Communist Party newsletters and pretend they had "no ideah" the commies were involved.

No Kings arises from guilt. Around here, it is a temper tantrum of extreme denial by the upper-class elderly with mansions and lake houses (why do the socialists and commies have the most expensive houses? Inherited wealth with life-long adjunct lack of self-awareness). At the protests held in Gainesville, GA, they would nevah dream of having a black maid or yardman, but I bet at least 95% of them have undocumented Hispanic housecleaners, yardmen, roofers, personal caretakers and/or repairmen. This is in the zip code with the highest percentage of illegal immigrants in the entire U.S.

So they're really protesting to keep their own undocumented servants - and sterilize their own grandchildren with sex change operations.

They are the Kings -- and Queens -- of this region. Plus their catlady daughters who own quaint little shops on the square selling the most cunning Guatemalan baskets and such at 1000%@ markups. I know these people. Lots of big poultry money bought those mansions by the lake off the backs of the undocumented, who live south of the town square in rotting shacks and are increasingly caught in the gunfire of gang wars imported from Dominican Republic and Venezuela.

They're disgusting hypocrites.
