Gospace said...: A couple of things. First- Should be a simple uncontroversial law to pass. "All government employees at all levels of government shall be US citizens. Any exception must be specifically written into federal law."

Second, just last week liberals were posting that every $1.00 "invested" in SNAP returns $1.50 in economic benefits. And just yesterday Governor Tim Walz tweeted it was $1.80. And I saw at least one post today- it's $2.00! So what Walmart and Wegman's should do is fund SNAP by themselves! According to liberals, they'll make money hand over fist! They'll take in $1.50, $1.80, or $2.00 for every dollar they give out! Wow! Invest in SNAP now, before it's too late! Two sons, my one son-in-law, my daughter, and one daughter-in-law, all worked for Walmart at one point in their lives. None ever received SNAP, food stamps, or other government subsidies due to low income. Amazing how if you plan your life right you don't need all that. Nice story about your family. You didn't mention the ETC. Did your family get that advantage? There are a ton of Walmart employee families with kids that do get that government ETC, and other government benefits.

With one kid, and one parent the ETC goes up to a full time person making $24/hr. (it goes to higher hourly incomes w/ more kids and/or two parents). You must understand that Walmart has employees with one kid that make less than $24/hr. Not to mention the other benefits that these Walmart employees get from the government.

He devoted countless hours to maintaining his house and property while his wife played tennis (I MAY be simplifying that just a tad). He and his wife have their home up for sale prior to the breakup. Hmmmm. And, as was mentioned earlier, his wife sends him a "letter" that would take five days to arrive instead of having the moral courage to sit down and say it to him face to face? Who knows what caused this stranger's marriage to fail? We know that his wife asked for the divorce, not him. I have been the victim of a divorce that I did not want, so I am not an unbiased party on the subject. I HATE that divorce is so easy. During marriage counseling where my then-wife and I went to her priest (we were married in a Catholic church) and a pastor where we worshiped together and they both said the same thing: no divorce unless physical abuse or adultery occurred. Neither did. This "religious" woman decided to divorce me anyway. We are now cordial and have been so for years -- we share a daughter, Natalie, together. I just spoke to the ex yesterday and inquired as to the health of her and her current husband. But enough about me.
Lileks is such a good writer that he managed to insert the news of the pending divorce into another of his essays about his everyday life.

Who is Trump trying to kid ?

China just performed a masterclass in dealing with Trump. What China demonstrated, however, is that it has the ability to use targeted leverage in ways that can create pain for a U.S. administration. e.g. in particular by doing damage to U.S. agricultural exporters, who are a core part of the Trump coalition.

I'm not clear about what was actually achieved by Trump. First he goes bananas and imposes absurd tariffs on China. Then China responds by restricting rare earth exports to the US and stops buying or reducing overall US agricultural imports, including soybeans, beef, pork, wheat, corn, and sorghum, in retaliation for US tariffs. Then Trump announces a backtracking and China eases off on countermeasures.
