It's not credible to me that any semi-serious person would have a symbol tatooed to their flesh without having some undertanding of what the symbol meant.
So he went to croatia to get a nazi tattoo (right best dr. Evil inflection) platner is dean 2.0
Their greatest weakness is that they focus on identity politics, over addressing what is happening in America today. The people at the top are enjoying the status quo, but the system is breaking down before their eyes as America becomes a caste system, with people locked into their economic classes because education no longer uplifts all boats...
So long as we keep rewarding the "connected" people over the best qualified applicants, and the shareholders over workers -- Israel over America -- you are going to see unrest here.
Enjoy it up there. Let us know if we can buy something off amazon to support your essential work here. Hobbies cost, and not everyone can budget and live within their means, we get that. Praying for ya, right after I pray for our divided nation. We will rise up again, have no fear. Might does not make right, and not everyone worships wealth over reason.

The gist is that it's (D)ifferent when (D)emocrats do it.
Every living, breathing creature on the planet (even progressives) knows what the response would be if the tattoo was on a Republican (see: Pete Hegseth).
The tattoo resembles a Totenkopf...
Bullshit! It is a Totenkopf.

Croatia, where the Nazis raised a whole division of mountain troops for the Waffen SS.

Lolol. I would bet at least half of tattoos/body ink is chosen without giving it much though. Followers are like that.
"hey guys...we're all getting tats!"
"hoo-rah!"
Not all artists follow the "they can't be drunk or pressured" guideline either.
So Democrats are running a guy with a totenkopf while the party agitates against Israel and Jews and in favor of Hamas, all while screaming how socialism is the way forward and at the same time they are endorsing massive street violence and other violence against their opponents, trying to murder and kill them (See Democrat candidates in Virginia.)
But it's Trump who is the Nazi. Uh huh.
You can never despise the Corporate Media enough. They love the passive use of "resembles" all of a sudden (unexpectedly!):
The tattoo resembles a Totenkopf, a well-known symbol of official Nazis
No it is a well-known symbol ONLY of Nazis and people who love Nazis. It does NOT resemble a Nazi tattoo. It actually IS a Nazi tattoo. But the disingenuous lying scum in Media love to muddy the water when "their side" is in trouble.
Unfortunately is the flip side. When Hegseth was named SecDef (a/k/a SecWar) his very well known Christian cross symbol was criticized as being a Nazi tattoo, not simply "resembling" one, even though every fucking reporter who repeated it knew it was a Christian cross and not an Iron one.
Compare and contrast is so tedious anymore because they never ever change. The Left is full of lying loons and young idiots willing to propagandize for them nonstop and pretend it is serious news.
Poor boomers.
The "he's a nazi/jew hater" accusations just don't fly here anymore. Try something new? We can't see past all the dead children our tax dollars bought in the past years over there.
Not credible that in the past 18 years he never became aware the tattoo might be a problem.
What about his OTHER actual Nazi tattoo on his arm? Doesn't that also resemble something benign that they can spin it toward?
No it is a well-known symbol ONLY of Nazis and people who love Nazis.

Lolol. Get over yourselves??
Nazi Graham Cracker…
It's all gotcha theater. The right is as stupid as the left was.
Democrats are about to elect a fraud Islamic extremist - who hates Jews... in NYC.
The problem is Democrats are happy to have national socialist that support workers in the Democrat Party and always have. But if somebody even jokes about Nazis in the Republican Party, they are sent packing. These facts don’t fit the narrative the media is trying to spin, which is the greatest weakness of the narrative, lack of supporting facts.
How refreshing it is to move on from the vapors over anonymous GOP youth who joked about being called Hitler by loser leftists and can now dedicate our efforts to excusing actual Nazi iconography on someone who trained antifa (who don't exist but YMMV), made racist remarks about blacks, says he outright hates white people, and is so homophobic even mayor Pete who endorsed Mandammit can't bring himself to prop up.
As you would expect, the greatest weakness of the party of Olive Oyls is a fondness for Bluto.
The great weakness is that too many people might become aware that the Ds hate America and hate you if you love the idea of Americanism (where government has a greatly diminished presence in our lives).
Almost goes without saying: (D-Dumbass).
And miss mcmillan is all about white supremacy eleventy!
"He only knew that Marines get 'terrifying-looking' tattoos...."

Lolol. Get over yourselves??
I admit an inability to interpret this into plain English. Let me direct your attention to the classic Mitchell & Webb skit where they ask the classic question Graham should ponder himself, "Are we the baddies?" You can see nazis wearing Platner's nazi insignia in the video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ToKcmnrE5oY
No time to clip thru but may I guess?
Their biggest problem is MESSAGING, right? Also Tessie is stupid if she thinks that twink looks "like Popeye" in any way.
Platner went to the very exclusive New England prep school of Hotchkiss where a placing your child's butt in a seat starts at $75K per year - not including Admin fees, library fees, parking fees, etc . Let's call it an even $100k a year. Say $500K for 4 years? The 1% of the 1% send their children there.
Zero chance of a working class plug shucking oysters
matriculating from there.
'Resembles a Totenkopf' the way a photograph of a Vermeer painting resembles a Vermeer painting.
She has it right though, the tattoo does once again expose the Democrat's biggest weakness: They are incapable of being truthful. What's worse, they believe their own bullsh*t, such is their confidence in being right.
Platner is no working-class Popeye, he's another silver spoon progressive 'populist' like AOC or Jasmine Crockett, imitating the accents and tough-talk. Can we call him a 'Popeye-ulist', or is he just another Great White Dope?
the Democratic Party’s new great white hope — a working-class white man who can speak to class antagonism
Why can't the left find its own John Fetterman?
It would be great timing for any Republican who has a similar/related tattoo to bare all and get it over with. Inoculation, no?
Soldiers and sailors and tattoos go together like rum and coke. Not a single one won't tell you what it means or no what it means.
He knew exactly what that was and probably could've slurred at you all about it for an hour before passing out.
You must be Jewish, Mike.
Don't be afraid. Show us on the doll where the tattooed men hurt you?
Platner's Nazi tattoo makes him unfit for the U.S. Senate. He should instead set his sights on becoming Secretary of War.
...given their PR budget the lefties should have revived the UK series Tattoo Fixers, blamed the tattoo on a drunken night with his mates in Magaluf then had Alice do a patch with pretty flowers...
Why can't the left find its own John Fetterman?
Hall of fame level comment.
I remember when men cared about protecting women and children, not crying foul over bad words, ugly body art, or some other man running against Susan Collins in a state they don't even live in...
Cry me a river. He's going to get elected, and no, it's not the Jews being rounded up in America today. Get over yourselves.
Would you boys feel better if we outlawed tattoos?
It's not going to happen, but I am not sure why exactly you want to cancel this man. You really are that afraid?
As usual the Dems only care about appearances.
Personally, I think an Obama tattoo is more concerning: still relevant, represents treason, corruption, and lies in this nation and time with no innocent alternative meaning.
You must be Jewish, Mike.
Guess again, ugly bigot. He bragged about it on a podcast because he liked scaring people with his crazy nazi talk and tattoos. He seems like your type.
We are funding lots of men with Nazi tattoos in Ukraine, and the Dems love them.
Banned loser says what?
Platner also has a 1919 tattoo on his arm, suggesting that the Totenkopf was not some bad-ass icon he got without knowing what it was. S is the 19th letter in the German alphabet and so 1919 is a cryptic way of saying SS to other Nazi fans.
You could hold a reunion of Hotchkiss Marines with Nazi tattoos in a porta potty, I suspect. In listening to Matt Taibbi (another admitted boarding school kid) he and Walter Kirn managed to convince me this guy is as random as Jeffery Epstein. Not a quote, but as close as this old dome can squeeze out - "Hotchkiss - that's where CIA directors send their kids..."
Trump could save this man by publicly denouncing him.

Mayoral front-runner Zohran Mamdani once made a vile, conspiracy-tinged statement tying the NYPD and the Israeli military, according to a shocking video that resurfaced Tuesday.
“We have to make clear that when the boot of the NYPD is on your neck, it’s been laced by the IDF,” the Queens assemblyman said, referring to the Israel Defense Forces.
Mamdani made the comparison during the 2023 Democratic Socialists of America’s national convention, where he was the keynote speaker."

She's arguing:
Plattner does not represent American workers today. But that's not the question...
The real question is: what will it take to remove the entrenched elderly politicians from both parties who have made a fortune in Congress while refusing to do their jobs on immigration or war policy? We can't afford to be globalists and not tax the wealthy. Better if we lived within our means, and did not divide the nation over divisive issues like... supporting Israel whose mighty IDF could not get their own hostages returned after two years and billions of dollars spent. America still had to bail them out. no more
Trump is not going to put up with Bibi's shenanigans. If you don't like it, start a GoFundMe. America has more pressing problems than worrying about somebody's body art. He fixed it, it's on his chest where you don't have to see it. Settle down now and focus on American interests? If you can't, hold your peace. This is not the time for trivial matters to be elevated to election issues. Tessie doesn't get that, nor do most commenting here. hth.

The Dem bubble-bobble-head sees that President Trump is going about working for peace and working to rebuild the American economy using tarriffs as a lever for deals. But she can't "see", meaning, accept that reality. Nor can she accept that the Trump voters saw the potential for that kind of positive action in Trump. Her vanity absolutely requires that she is righteously struggling against racism, misogyny and all other forms of injustice which are all caused by Trump and his nasty (aka white male) voters. The solution? Attack white men. Easy-peasy and not racist or sexist at all. That's all she can "see." But dialogue ensues.

NYT:
"...a working-class white man who can speak to class antagonism in an economically unequal electorate."
No political or economic system creates economic equality, unless you consider equal misery for most to be equality.
Also NYT:
"Bernie Sanders, the longtime senator from Vermont, also had plenty to say. He had endorsed Platner early in his campaign. After the tattoo debacle, Sanders did not revoke his endorsement, saying that there are “more important issues” worth our focus.
Bernie’s got us there. There are more important issues. A gilded, would-be emperor is sitting atop the wealthiest, most powerful nation in the world. How did he get there? A cosplay of economic populism that elevated a fixture of the tabloid press to the captain’s chair of Western democracy. It was turbocharged by his willingness to cozy up to radical right-wing racists, promising them legal, political and cultural clemency for their racist deeds."
So much lying in that second paragraph:
- No cosplay. The DNC elevated Trump as a straw candidate, as confessed John Podesta in the post-mortem to the 2016 election.
- There was no cozying up to reactionary (the correct term!) right wingers. None. To whom, exactly, did he promise legal, political, and cultural (what does that even mean?) clemency?
A division is a large military unit or formation, usually consisting of between 10,000 and 25,000 soldiers.
Thats too much stupidium to consume
As noted by Neo, the argument that he was unaware of the tattoos meaning is undermined not only by his previous bragging about it, but also by the fact it is still there. Tattoos can be removed, or more often altered to become something else. This man is proud of the symbol he put on his chest, and Democrats are proud to support him.
Slivovitz the local drink
I once had a shot glass of the stuff. I’ve been assured it’s made from fermented plums, but I think turpentine is in there too.
How did [Trump] get [to the presidency]? A cosplay of economic populism that elevated a fixture of the tabloid press to the captain’s chair of Western democracy. It was turbocharged by his willingness to cozy up to radical right-wing racists, promising them legal, political and cultural clemency for their racist deeds.
Now, Republican politicians are free to steep themselves in white Christian nationalism to play to the base that Donald Trump built for them. This country is being ruled by a powerful minority that espouses deplorable minority views that polling shows a majority of voters in this country disagree with. That is the big problem.
From the article, followed by a sentence stating that it's also the Democrats' problem. So now we know what the Democrats' "greatest weakness" is: it's the same one that dogs Republicans, she* says. It's racism. At least she* fig-leafs it as an attitude a "majority" disagrees with, a prejudice that only a ruling minority embraces. An interesting conspiracy theory...
So, she*, like apparently everybody else in the Democrat party (except maybe Fetterman? Though I don't think I've heard him lay it out 100% either), chalks up Democrat failure to connect with ordinary people to yet another spurious cause instead of the dual real causes: that they're chained to the craziest crazies in their party (I don't get the reason for THIS, however), and that they have no idea how to act without convening a focus group.
* I actually don't know the sex of the writer, and every time I navigate away from here to check anything in the article, my comment disappears - a solvable problem but an irritating one. Anyway, the writer sounds like a chick.
Democratic Senate candidate Graham Platner, the self-described "working class Mainer," attended an elite boarding school in Connecticut that costs upwards of $75,000 a year.
He is the very model of a working class Democrat. He's mastered the lying part.
Nazi tattoo might help him gain votes from GOP side.
Yet only the lefties are defending him. Maybe that bag your teaing on is the other side of the aisle.
I took one look at the author's picture and guessed exactly what "greatest weakness" she was referring to. What she doesn't realize is that other polling shows that 70% of people think that the Democrat party has moved too far to the left, which is why they lost in 2024. She wants her party to double down on identity politics, and as someone who wants to see the Democrats defeated, I encourage them to do so.
"A Nazi Tattoo Exposes Democrats’ Greatest Weakness"
They don't know what they're doing?
I have to admit I enjoy watching Dems agonize over “he’s a great messenger” versus “but there is that Nazi problem”. Couldn’t happen to better people.
In the end, I expect them to go with the Nazi. He fits in with the antisemitism that’s steadily taking over the left
A working polity needs a common core of shared political beliefs in order to engage in productive discourse. I've never been more pessimistic than I now am about the capacity of Americans to find that common core. The greatest weakness of the new Democratic Party is that it won't articulate its core beliefs because it knows that its core beliefs will never command the assent of enough people to maintain their power.
He's got a deplorable blue collar pedigree all day long. Obviously, the tattoo is disgusting and disqualifying. That said, he sounds like a solid citizen.
Platner enlisted in the Marine Corps shortly after graduating from high school in 2003.[9] He attended the Marine Corps School of Infantry, then deployed to Iraq in 2005.[4] He served a total of eight years in the military, including three combat tours in Iraq, in areas including Ramadi and Fallujah.[10] Asked why he served in the Iraq War after protesting it, Platner said, "I thought I could do some good. And I wanted to play soldier. I might have read too much Hemingway."[11]
After four years in the military, Platner enrolled at George Washington University on a G.I. Bill scholarship.[9] Shortly after starting school, he enlisted in the Maryland Army National Guard and served an additional tour of duty in the war in Afghanistan.[12][13] He returned to Washington in 2011, resuming classes at GWU and working as a bartender at the Tune Inn on Capitol Hill.[14][15] From 2011 to 2016 he alternated between living in D.C. and military deployments, before withdrawing from GWU and returning to Maine in 2016 for treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder and other military-related injuries.[13][9][11][16]
In 2018, Platner returned to Kabul, Afghanistan, for about six months as a State Department security contractor with Constellis, the private military company formerly known as Blackwater, where he provided diplomatic security to the US ambassador to Afghanistan.[17][10][18][19] He returned to Maine the same year, saying he quickly grew more disillusioned with the military and what he called fraudulent funneling of taxpayer money to private defense companies.[12][9]
Oyster farming
edit
While on leave from Afghanistan in 2018, Platner spent two weeks farming oysters with Jock Crothers, founder of Waukeag Neck Oyster Co., a small Frenchman Bay operation established in 2010 that supplies restaurants in Downeast Maine.[12][20] After resigning as a security contractor and returning to Maine later that year, he began working at the farm full-time.[18] He took over the company in 2020 and now owns and operates it with his wife, Amy, and another business partner.[11][21][16] He says the business does not make much money, but he is able to supplement his income with benefits he earns as a 100% disabled veteran.[11][14] Platner also runs a mooring and dive service.[22][23]
Local government and community involvement
edit
Platner is Sullivan's harbormaster and the chair of Sullivan's planning board.[22][23][24] He has also been involved in grassroots organizing, leading political efforts with the Acadia Action activist group.[

There was however the hyperlink to a Yahoo news recopy of the New Republic with the title It Sure Sounds Like Graham Platner Knew He’d Gotten a Nazi Tattoo. Does NYT deal exclusively in political own goals nowadays?
…not to spoil my own fun I did find an image and scarab beetle…
…suspiciously he left a couple corners of the Nazi tattoo exposed. Must have been an oversight…
To Tressie McMillan Cottom the problem is some Democrat's willingness to accept a bit of racism, if that's what it takes to attract white working class voters. The actual problem is that Democrats are assuming the problem with attracting white working class voters has to do with racism, not Democrat's far left agenda.
Howard said...
That said, he sounds like a solid citizen.
True. And generally speaking, the Dem Party could use more guys like Platner and Moulton, a lot more. But I have questions.
he is able to supplement his income with benefits he earns as a 100% disabled veteran.
What's his disability? Was he injured? I couldn't find any details.
How is he a hard-working, blue collar waterman and 100% disabled?
If he was 100% disabled in the Marines, how did he go on to Blackwater contracting?
"The actual problem is that Democrats are assuming the problem with attracting white working class voters has to do with racism, not Democrat's far left agenda."
Are you saying that working class voters might not want CPS taking their kids so that they can sexually mutilate them or be told that they are inherently evil cause they're white? That they think they're kids shouldn't be exposed to drag queens and pornography in school libraries? What kind of retrograde bigot are you?!
"If he was 100% disabled in the Marines, how did he go on to Blackwater contracting?"
Or the back breaking work of being an oysterman?
“ If he was 100% disabled in the Marines, how did he go on to Blackwater contracting”
Military disability vs actual disability is the dirty little secret of today’s military.
“ True. And generally speaking, the Dem Party could use more guys like Platner and Moulton, a lot more. But I have questions.”
Guys like Platner and Moulton have to sell their souls to the base instincts of today’s Democrat party. They can’t be John Fetterman.
Anybody produced any Marine buddies?
The problem with his story is that short of perhaps a Silly Symphonies cartoon skull, the Nazi Totenkopf is probably the goofiest execution of a skull and crossbones there is. The bones peeking out behind look like curled fingers. Unless that's the only skull option on offer (. . at a tattoo parlour??) I don't see how you'd end up picking that. It's not even like the Wewelsburg Black Sun or the Wolfsangel or other rune-like Nazi symbols that have a certain aesthetic power of their own. Nor is it like Katie Hill's Iron Cross -- described at the time as a "Nazi" tattoo but not necessarily Nazi at all. It's a symbol that's only glamorous to people who know it was used by the SS.
And, as one would expect, there's some evidence this chap knew perfectly well what his tattoo was.
Guys like Platner and Moulton have to sell their souls to the base instincts of today’s Democrat party. They can’t be John Fetterman.
Even Fetterman is mostly talk. I feel like no Democrat can be trusted right now, period. But maybe more guys like this in the party will move things in the right direction. Beats the hell out of the AOC's, the Mamdanis, the Tim Walzes, the Ilhan Omars and the Gavin Newsomes.
I see a lot of weaknesses here. Graham became a military contractor after eight years in the military ranting about how much he hated his superiors, in between stints living in DC and attending GWU, and then he claims he didn't know that military contracting is corrupt, so he only did it for a little while?
And he attended the extremely expensive Hotchkiss Spookmaster Prep but pretends to be a rural oyster farmer, while bragging about being well armed to take on conservative "fascists"? Time to check his donor list. Some things are harder to cover up than tattoos.
He sounds like a well-muscled cross between Hunter Biden and Prince Harry. A privileged self-destruction bomb. With a side of very intense resentment for his fellow elite spooky high school pals who did college first and then entered military service as officers.
I wouldn't get in an elevator with this guy. And there is no way he didn't know what both of his Nazi tattoos meant all along.
Interesting how the Times columnist carefully avoids the subject of his class background while saving her spit for actually poor, actually rural white men. Yet she's also dumb enough to include a link to a love letter from ANTIFA for this guy.
Democrats may not even be lying this time. They may be just this deranged.
I'm sure Platner knew the tattoo had Nazi roots, he just didn't care until he did. But I'm also sure he isn't a Nazi or a Neo-Nazi.
He is a Democrat though. That is what's disqualifying.
In America you have to be actually rich or already elected to declare yourself a socialist. See Bernie, AOC etc. Wealthy theatre kids like Mandami declare themselves "socialist" while reaping the benefits of rapacious capitalism, like rent control. Even actual "socialist" countries like China and the old USSR only survived by obtaining trade and goods from capitalist countries. "Capitalism" is the marxist word for "normal activity." But whatever you call it, the Free Market worked long before socialism was invented and can survive without it.
Socialism can't survive without a hegemonic capitalist world supporting it. "Socialists" can't survive without all the luxuries and devices created by the systems they decry, and the wealth the West has produced. "social democracies" will turn highly darwinian at the next economic downturn, ridding themselves of the pretend peoples party members.
This guy is truly Popeye. A Nazi I amsk an that’s all what I amsk.
While I don't think Plattner is a Nazi nor do I think the tattoos are disqualifying, I also believe Democrats get to live up the same rules they make for everyone else.
I said...And generally speaking, the Dem Party could use more guys like Platner and Moulton, a lot more.
I take it back. I really don't know anything about Platner. For all I know, he's a full-fledged socialist, a new Bernie Sanders.
You'd have to be crazy to vote for any Democrat today.
I also believe Democrats get to live up the same rules they make for everyone else.
This.
It's worse than you think, Bob. He's not even an ordinary Democrat. He belongs to an Anarcho-Communist group, Acadia Action. He has apologized for the Nazi stuff, the hating poor rural whitey stuff, the homophobic stuff, the disgust at rape victims stuff, and so on, but nothing in his prep-school to GWU to Blackwater to Acadia Action resume makes any sense without that ANTIFA cherry on top.
Fetterman and Platner seem like the Democrats experiments at creating (white male working class) life artificially. Fetterman turned out to be the (relatively) good Frankenstein. Platner not so much.
The Totenkopf symbol does go back to Frederick the Great's army in the 18th century. Platner probably knew of the symbol's Nazi associations. Getting tats in the military does seem to be a group activity, like visiting brothels, but does everyone pick the same tattoo? I don't think Platner subscribed to all the points of the Nazi platform, but what to do with this information is up to the voters of Maine.
The Democrats are the masters of selling the sizzle and not the steak. Every "working class Joe" and "War hero" elected to DC votes with Schumer or Jeffries 95 percent of time. There are no "moderate Democrats". There are no Democrat "mavericks".
So who cares about Platner? He's another Fake.
Fetterman makes a few noises about being a moderate. And he'll vote to keep the filibuster or whatever. But he still votes with Schumer 90 percent of the time.
As for a Tattoo, talk about stupid. who gives a damn about a nazi tattoo? What evidence is there that he's a nazi? None. Moronic.
1919 was the date of the attempted revolution in germany and the short lived one in hungary reversed by horthy
“Platner has said that he didn’t know the symbol’s semiotics.”
In other words, he is a moronic idiot, what is the status on his intellectual disability, an IQ score of 51-70?
Howard shuckin’ (not oysters) and jivin’ in defense of blue collar Nazi Graham Cracker
He's a lot closer to our friend Achilles then you people think. I like the way everything has to fit into your worldview narrative of a bipolar world.
Graham Cracker
HAHAHAHAHA! Now that's funny.
“Great white hope?” Seriously? If only the future of the country were as unimportant as a boxing match or basketball game. Democrats will forgive this man his Nazi sympathies because it’s what they do. They will forgive Cuomo his manslaughters or Mamdani his communism or Islamism. They will forgive Jones his infanticidal fantasies and Spanberger her transgender policy absurdities just as they have forgiven Bill Clinton’s sexual predations and the Bidens’ grifting. Why? Because other than Shapiro and Fetterman these people are the best Democrats have to offer.
I don't see a bipolar world, I see a world in which the Democrats objectively suck because they decided to suck and continue to suck. I didn't make that world. I just live in it.
Ocean continues to outdo himself: “As for a Tattoo, talk about stupid. who gives a damn about a nazi tattoo? What evidence is there that he's a nazi?” Answer to the first question: In this context, everybody who’s not a Nazi or Jew hater. Second question: An SS tattoo is evidence.
My greatest weakness is a country song. I may be mistaken. I haven’t looked it up.
“Platner has said that he didn’t know the symbol’s semiotics.”
But he did know it was a Nazi symbol because he bragged about having them. As in the other one he has too.
Gotcha, Bob. Nonbinary 🤙
Actually, the song's name is "My Strongest Weakness".
I'm detecting an attempt to woo the women vote. #Lem vibes again.
The tattoo didn't "resemble" the Totenkopf. It WAS the Totenkopf. An exact copy. You can't hate journoscum enough.
After reading the article, I gather she thinks the "greatest weakness" is that the democrats are forced to attract racist white blue-collar men, not educated women of color, like her.
If you got me you got yourself too in the process, Howard.
The greatest weakness is the limited pool the Democrats have of men with an authentic man card at a time in which that is actually a prized demographic.
NTTAWWT
These people (of both parties) want to be elected so they can become rich.
Marcus cracked the code.
He is hardly a deplorable, nor poor. His grandfather was the internationally celebrated architect of interiors for the WTC restaurant Windows on the World, also the Ford Foundation and the UN. He comes from great wealth. Hotchkiss, his first prep school, has a certain reputation for children of high-ranking CIA officials. Bapst, where he finished, is also elite. GWU, his university, ditto. Remember Porter Goss, GW Bush's CIA Director? He was at Hotchkiss. There's CIA all over that oyster fisherman. And ANTIFA. More shoes will drop.
He's a millionaire.
The use of “than” or “then”…
“I would rather make love to an alligator than Rosie O’Donnell”
“I would rather make love to an alligator then Rosie O’Donnell”
☝️which one reads better?!?!☝️
Is it regional?
Howard exemplifies the Democrats' greatest weakness. A "blue collar pedigree" includes attending Hotchkiss and having a grandfather who was one of the architects of the Ford Foundation building in New York and Dulles Airport. He's like my die-hard Democrat mother-in-law, who gushed that Tim Waltz's coaching and national guard background would win over white men.
According to Daniel Greenfield, in prep school Graham was voted "most likely to start a revolution" and pictured holding a "Free Palestine" flag. He has bragged about starting an Antifa paramilitary to fight conservatives. His "oyster business" was started with a grant and appears to be sustained by giving tours and by his mother's businesses. His father is a wealthy lawyer who has given money to Bernie Sanders. And curiously, he has been quoted in DC papers since 2009. See at Frontpagemag, "Graham Platner: Fake Working Class 'Oysterman,' Actual Wealthy Leftist" by Daniel Greenfield.
My take: He's a black sheep from a notable family. He's being fluffed up in the same way AOC was, a 'new fresh face' of the Progressive Democratic party. AOC went from bartender to suddenly having nice digs, an expensive wardrobe and lots of air time, lots of coverage but not as much interview face time. She was groomed to the position, then screen-tested for focus groups (quality control). All of this takes time, resources, and production effort. Now she's becoming the voice of the New Party.
I say the Graham Cracker is getting the same treatment. It's neither unplanned nor coincidental, the kind of media coverage he is getting. I don't buy 100% into what Walter Kirn thinks (manufactured persona for candidate), but I don't think he's far off. National politics is a business, politicians are a product required to run the business, quality control is a proven process to assure results.

So's Pritzker. What's your point?

C'mon Althouse. C'mon.
I've seen and heard what this guy thinks and believes. A tattoo is the least of his problems.
Hes a rubber stamp as long as he goes along with schumer or his successor it doesnt matter
Like looney lamont that they forced out lieberman for
"I've made that a gift link so you can try to figure out what this "greatest weakness" is supposed to be."
The writer is a 49 year old gal that seems to admiringly note this dude's look/muscles. But the weakness of the muscle dude is that he has dabbled with pro Nazi stuff, so he's a bad fit for an intelligent NYT sorta person.
What is my prize for solving this riddle?

I don't know what muscles she was admiring- that is one marine that has gone completely soft in middle age.
The muscles of his mind lol
A blue collar pedigree entails putting your dick in the dirt, no matter what preschool you might have attended on what your grandfather's bank account looks like.
Nazi to Popeye the SAILOR is a DemMedia manipulation only a gullible AWFL would find irresistible.
Rusty: my point is he is not some struggling oyster fisherman. And you know it.
Narciso: yes, 1919 is the date of an attempted revolution. But it was then adopted by the Nazis as a Nazi symbol, as it remains today. And you know that, too.
Why do you feel the need to conceal the truth and defend this behavior?
Yancey: yes, this is, literally, AOC on steroids. This guy was groomed from day one. He sounds unstable, but the best domestic anarcho-commies and domestic terrorists are nuts. The media is shamelessly concealing a lot. His donation pattern looks quite curated. ACTBlue is probably where most of the money is coming from, and they don't have to reveal donors, but they say he's running "Against Israel." He's carefully claiming vast support from small direct donors, but those names have not yet been disclosed by the FEC and won't matter much when they do. A lot of those people aren't sitting around reading Daniel Greenfield and may have thrown five bucks at his curated image.
A curated anarcho-communist neo-Nazi who talks about killing conservatives, rural people, and police. Well, it's here now.
Howard apparently doesn't understand the word "pedigree." The word he is looking for is "larp".
Oh Howard, just stop. The oyster "business" is a sham. No matter how much bullshit you and they will peddle for the team.
