I think it is more, because this guy is far-right, and given the other things he has publicly said, and the rather recent change in gender identity the minister thinks this person isn't truthfully claiming to be a woman. Not that Nazis don't deserve the benefits of this policy. Immediately before the line with the minister's expressed beliefs there was this line.

So, it's "self-ID" unless an official doubts that you're sincere. Then it becomes "I am the Law and the Law is not mocked." The quote indicates that the accused "vigorously resisted" the idea that he wasn't sincere. Instead, he continued to express his self-identification as a woman. Isn't that exactly what self-ID laws allow for?

In other words, yeah, this self-ID policy doesn't apply to Nazis.

And herein lies the problem with basing any law on intent. "Hate speech" laws, for instance, require that the perp's intent be discerned from the outside; this obviously subjective process can transform one individual having an argument with another individual that gets too heated and results in, say, a thrown sandwich into an act of would-be genocide against the second individual's identity group. As long as, that is, the person or persons doing the discerning believe that the identity group is subject to others ' wanting to commit genocide against it. Or, here, change just a couple of details and we have a "trans activist" who is deliberately testing the boundaries of this law in order to gain a "right" that never existed before... and as long as those doing the discerning are sympathetic to what the activist is trying to do, bam, women's prison it is.; 9/2/25, 12:06 PM

A large percentage of these men are sex offenders. Only two states do not allow male inmates in women's prisons. The situation is worse in Canada and Europe. I don’t really care about women who want to pretend to be men as long as standards are not dumbed down for them.

It doesn’t happen now because women don’t have to do anything to pretend to be men. They can just get a job in HR or as a New York prosecutor or a Fed board member and larp being a man without all of the responsibility and social stigma that comes from being male.

The problem is that most of the women in the workforce don’t do the things society actually needs done and they create bullshit jobs because real jobs are too hard for them.

It isn’t the pretending to be men part that causes damage. It is the failure to do things that need to be done because we divert capital to people who don’t do useful things.

Given that many people who claim transgender status have been allowed to give it a re-think and "detransition", is a proclamation of gender change anything more than a provisional assertion of an intention to be something that one has not yet effectuated? Are these tentative gestures, which are so obviously subject to misuse in areas like penology and athletics, entitled to meaningful legal weight? It seems foolish and capricious to attach legal significance to a mere statement of revocable intention.

@Jim at, yes, it was in Virginia, specifically Loudoun County, which gained notoriety four years ago for trying to cover up a case where a teenaged biological male (reportedly wearing a skirt) raped a teenaged girl in a girls’ rest room in one of the high schools. The school board attempted to cover it up by sending the rapist to another high school, where he raped another girl. One of the fathers protested to the school board and was arrested.

FWIW there is a law on the books in Virginia against videotaping people changing clothes in a rest room or locker room. That didn’t matter to the Loudoun County School Board nor, apparently, to any other county officials.; 9/2/25, 4:02 PM
