I’m going to watch Gettysburg tonight. Never seen it before. It’s based on the book The Killer Angels, which I had to read in high school. 4+ hours, though.
The guy that shot at the ABC building on Friday was arrested this morning and has been already released on bail. https://www.kcra.com/article/abc10-sacramento-shooting-suspect-arrested-river-park/67975450
Did you see that Donnie’s border czar Tim Horman was caught taking a cash bribe on tape? https://www.politico.com/news/2025/09/20/tom-homan-department-of-justice-investigation-00574379
I’m as shocked as anyone that Don Cheeto Pedo’s hand picked criminals are committing crimes in office.
MSNBC reported that the alleged meeting between Homan and agents took place in September 2024 and was captured by hidden cameras.
Remind me who was president on that date, where the promise was made to steer contracts his way for cash? Contracts that never came, because, you know, Joe Biden lost the election.
OMG, Peachy, I've seen that walk by the methadone clinic in Boston's South End. They gave him a sign and money for a fix, and drove him to the protest. Jeezum.
Read the book "The Killer Angels" with my son-in-law and grandson last year (second reading for me), and then watched the movie "Gettysburg" with them before visiting the battlefield last October (my 4th visit there). All-around enjoyable for me - I hope for you also, Rocco.
My wife was born in Gettysburg, on the battlefield. After the war, of course. The hospital is on the south side of town , through which the fleeing Union troops hustled toward higher ground late on July 1.
Broken program. Things never truly recovered post Bielema, desperately want to be a top tier program but TBH never really have been. Masqueraded as one under Barry and just after, but growing up there and having a degree from there I am willing to admit we have always been second tier.
We might be third tier under our current Athletics Dept and coach.
Well, CNN is broadcasting Farm Aid and Mellencamp just told on of the reporters that humans had nothing to do with Climate Change. Guess they're mopping floors and changing underwear back at the studio.
Movie Review - On the Bowery (1956). What we would call a "Docudrama" today. The actors are unprofessional. The Locations are real. NYC - The Bowery duh. But there is a story and the dialogue is scripted.
THis was supposed to be a "raw" "OMG how horrible" look at the bums and alcoholics in NYC. Its pretty interesting, not for the story or acting but for the shots of "real life". What amazing looking back from 2025 is how white and civilized everything is. Even "The bums" wear suits and dress shoes!
There's no evidence of drugs and most of the "Bums" drink and live on the street. If they sleep in the park, they're picked up and spend the night in jail. Money is obtained by doing day labor and panhandling. And spent on beer and whiskey in the numerous bars and restaurants.
Only 65 minutes and that's about the right length.
"Gettysburg" is probably the best civil war film done, ever. The Hollywood studio moguls came to the USA after 1890, so they had zero interest in the civil war. GWTW was done because the book was a massive best seller in the 30s.
How come I never hear MAGA talk about how the dems tried to steal the 2024 election? I assume DOJ will start bringing significant voter fraud cases very soon. Also where is the grand jury that’s questioning all the people Biden pardoned? After all they can’t assert the Fifth and surely know about tons of crimes by the Biden crime family. Just wondering
I've lived next door the Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library for 17 years, but have never been inside, because I consider him one of the worst presidents ever, and one of the worst human beings ever to be president. I can't think of anything admirable he ever did. Yet many people admire him.
I don't abuse them, because I'm pretty sure that whatever they admire him for, it's not the things I despise him most for: resegregating the armed forces and federal bureaucracy, jailing the third-party candidate in his reelection race, and the Palmer Raids, and generally being a racist protofascist asshole.
Has Jaq ever thought of researching what Bandera's admirers admire him for? I strongly suspect it's for fighting against Stalin for Ukrainian independence, not for any ethnic massacres committed along the way. In fact, the more Jaq insists that Ukrainians deserve to be slaves for admiring Bandera, the more I wonder how much of the accusations against him are Russian propaganda.
And I'm still waiting for Jaq to tell me why Romania should not ban their own retro-Nazis from running for office. If Banderites are beyond the pale, surely unapologetic admirers of the genocidal Hitler-allied Iron Guard are too. One of the Putin-allied Romanian politicians, a 101-year-old retired general, seems to have fought side by side with the Wehrmacht. It appears that Jaq's hostility to admirers of Nazi allies is purely situational, and he likes them very well if they like Putin.
“If they [the bums] sleep in the park, they're picked up and spend the night in jail. Money is obtained by doing day labor and panhandling.” I once talked to this old guy (a former alky) in L.A. We were watching some young street people propped up against a building as we were waiting for a bus. The old guy was from Chicago. He said in his youth there was always a job at the slaughter houses. I don’t even know if they took down names. If you showed up and did the work, you got paid in cash at the end of the day. He said it was back breaking work but if you were an alcoholic or a druggie you knew you could make money when you needed it. It was enough to keep you off the streets. And he said the work made you feel like a man. He said it was physically exhausting and you were spent when you finished the day but the money you worked for made you feel good. Today, the old guy said (pointing at the young men) there!s nothing like that for them.
I have a life-long friend who's from Wisconsin. Big Badger fan. I still give him shit over the 'fake' field goal against Kentucky in the All American Bowl.
When Bielema left for Arkansas, one of his buddies on the job started boasting and laughing. "We got Bielema. We got Bielema." ... as if it was some sort of coup.
My buddy simply smiled.
And now Illinois is wondering how they got completely boat-raced by Indiana.
BAEZA impressive today but paid $4.80, never went above 2-1 and I believe went off at 8-5. My horse to beat favorite (GOSGAR stumbled from gate ,5 wide into 1st turn and was done early. With Gosgar out my triple and exacta wagers missed. Exacta paid good with MIND FRAME 10-1 2ND FOR $53.00 FOR $2.00 WAGER. My bankroll decreased by $200 wager as I did not bet favorite at 2-1 or less. Baeza been battling Sovereignty AND FOUND THIS GROUP EASIER WITH A STRONGr CLOSING MOVE. Onto next event as they'll all be vying for Breeders Cup with good last prep races. Baeza was a probable with a good race here. Yeah Baby they are setting u now for big day at DEL MAR IN November.WOODWARD(New York) and AWESOME AGAIN Gulf Stream UP NEXT. And they're off...Running my 4th and last Boston Marathon In 2004(record heat over 2100 went to medical tents and 150 plus had to be taken to hospitals because of 86 degree temps,my slowest of the 4 I ran but my most accomplished on that day in 3:47 .These competions of the beautiful thoroughbreds get my juices flowing knowing the training it takes to get to the starting line) Nothing like that run down Boylston street after the 4 sister hills with Heartbreak A REAL CRAMP GETTER) Like watching EAY GOER and SUNDAY SILENCE battling back in the day .. yeah baby bring it!!

I still think that D Bag is here to support Trump, or, and this is also possible, he doesn't read his own links.

The movie "Gettysburg," like the source novel, sometimes overlaps with the truth.
That said, I hope Rocco enjoys the experience. Some of my friends are in the cast of thousands.

I was told that only a few misguided teenagers in Kiev were supporters of Stephan Bandera, but this is the "Kyiv Post," so I am scratching my head.

Seals the deal on the righteousness of calling each and every DemocRAT a COMMUNIST.
Badgers are eating too much cheese for their own good.

I dunno. We're too busy dodging bullets?
You mean the Dems didn't claim the election was stolen in 2024 as they've done every time they've lost since 2000, right?

They sent their coach to Champaign, Illinois.
"They sent their coach to Champaign, Illinois."

I strongly recommend "Gettysburg" and "Killer Angels." I was already interested in the Civil War, but the book and the movie amped it up quite a bit.
I have further recommendations once you have seen the movie.
