Many of you may remember a few weeks ago, when I described my travails in DC Superior Court. Thanks once again to everyone who contributed to my legal defense fund.

I have created a change.org petition, and unlike givesendgo, this way to support me is free:

https://chng.it/Fwbq9zrGDG

(I don’t know why they use an Italian domain, either)

Don’t be confused by the donation form on the page - that is for supporting change.org in general, not me, and it is optional. You can sign for free.

You can also keep your signature off the public site, but of course when the petition is turned in, all the names will be visible, just like a paper petition.

If you’re comfortable with that, I certainly would appreciate your help. And if you can pass the link along in your networks, I would appreciate that even more.

Based on Trump’s press conference today announcing his takeover of the Metropolitan Police of DC, one would think his administration supports aggressive action against miscreants like the subway dancers.

Perhaps the petition will help.

Thanks for whatever you can do.

I think that Donald Trump is serious about dealing with (or trying to deal with) the DC crime problem. Washington mayor Muriel Bowser complains that the city needs more police, but back in 2020 she allowed the BLM rioters to paint “DEFUND THE POLICE” in block capitals the entire width of a street near the White House. When some pranksters with a can of paint changed the sign to “DEFEND THE POLICE” she got quite bent out of shape.

It does not help that DC judges take a “kids will be kids” attitude towards teenaged criminals that come before them. But attempted murder is not a “kids will be kids” sort of crime.

That’s steppin’ up!

Keldonric said...

I agree — ‘kids will be kids’ instead of consequences appropriate to the crime is bad for everyone involved.

I read an excellent suggestion on an action Trump should consider: given Canada’s support for Palestinian statehood. Perhaps Trump should throw his support behind recognizing the independence of Alberta and Quebec.

Vacation is apparently a good time to scout for watch parts what are scarce as hen’s teeth. Found a naked Waltham 6/0 B in good condition, what appears to be a Movado 475 in less good condition but says the balance is good. Now if I can ever find a brass pin for the collet on the cushion case Rolex that’s been idle I’ll have my hopeful parts trays mostly cleared out…

"instead of consequences appropriate to the crime"

And risk "disparate impact"? Good luck with that when Dems are in charge.

Mike, I think it’s worth looking at the full picture here. The “DEFUND THE POLICE” addition in 2020 wasn’t something Bowser ordered — it was added by protesters to the “Black Lives Matter” mural the city had commissioned, and the city later removed it. It’s fair to debate her approach to policing, but I’m not sure that moment tells us much about the current crime situation.
And on that, the numbers show DC’s violent crime is at a 30-year low and down another 26% this year, so calling this an emergency is a bit hard to square with the data. On the judges, I’m not aware of evidence showing a broad “kids will be kids” approach to serious felonies like attempted murder — most juvenile systems, DC’s included, detain suspects in those cases.

I get the point about wanting a safer city — we can all agree on that — but I think we do better when we base the discussion on what’s actually happening now, rather than a mix of old events and generalized impressions.

A vacation ranch in Montana had a bunch of Japanese businessmen visit. They were all decked out in new western kit and marveled at everything ranch with the refrain ‘very authentic!’. The horses, the Wednesday rodeo- ‘very authentic!’. One stepped in manure and yep ‘Verrrrry Authentic!’…

Judge Paul Engelmayer has rejected Todd Blanche’s bid to unseal Ghislaine Maxwell grand jury materials because Blanche was lying when he insinuated there’d be anything of substantial public interest. With the Government having now conceded that the information it proposes to release is redundant of the public record—that this information was made publicly available at Maxwell’s trial or has otherwise been publicly reported—the public interest in testing the Government’s bona fides does not require the extraordinary step of unsealing grand jury records.

Blanche's motion was three-and-a-half pages in length; there were no supporting materials filed, under seal or otherwise; the motion did not disclose or reflect awareness of the summary-witness nature of the Maxwell grand jury testimony; and the motion was made without advance notice to Epstein’s and Maxwell’s victims.

This was a stunt. Now exposed as a stunt. What’s next? Rounding up and locking away the homeless in DC? Cosplaying a diplomat by meeting with Putin in Sarah Palin’s backyard? Ordering tech companies and universities to fire their CEOs? Making Missouri’s favorite auctioneer and former IRS commissioner, Billy Long, the ambassador to Iceland? Putting 120 FBI agents on patrol duty after dark since Friday in DC in connection with an " assault" of former DOGE staffer Edward "Big Balls" Coristine and his girlfriend during an alleged carjacking earlier this month by two arrested but unarmed black suspects, a 15-year-old male and a 15-year-old female?

I need a distraction ~ Trump

By the way, where are the Epstein files?

Maybe the National Guard could be deployed to find those Epstein files .

Ronald J. Ward:
"the numbers show DC’s violent crime is at a 30-year low"? Really?

Someone tried that argument on Twitter, beginning at Tweet "With crime in DC at a 30 year low", and @fleshsimulator (interesting name), retweeted by InstaPundit, replied (link):

"THE FUCKING POLICE COMMANDER JUST HAD TO RESIGN FOR FABRICATING DATA YOU RETARD

"I don’t like this either but holy shit it is NOT helping to pretend like there isn’t a massive crime problem"

Crude, but the fact is that the official numbers are incredible.

Kakistocracy said...

Mr T writes: "Epstein files stay sealed by order of ::checks notes:: an Obama judge."

Way to fall for the distraction. Grand Jury testimonies are secret *by law*

The files that were on Bondi’s desk that mysteriously disappeared could be released today.

The most important thing to know about Trump’s manufactured crisis in DC is that his administration is still covering up what’s in the Epstein files.

Besides the fabrication of data: if you never arrest people and try them on the charges for the crimes, they actually commit, of course dad will show crime is improving. Any idiot who watches the news knows they don’t convict people anymore for the crimes that they are really committing. Therefore the statistics are skewed and we all know it.

The greatest lawlessness I ever saw in DC was on January 6, 2021. Trump incited and directed a violent insurrection. Trump issued no order to the National Guard to intervene and later pardoned the perpetrators.

If someone doesn't report a burglary because the "police" won't investigate and the "justice system" won't prosecute, does that mean crime is down?

Any yet..and yet. Biden and his gauleiter enforcers couldn't find ANYTHING to charge Trump with over that riot.

Kaka, you're like the drug peddlers who can't help shooting up on their own product: only your product is just SHIT.
