Here's the link if you want to try to use it. I found a way last night, but it's not working for me now. I was going to quote the part about Donald Trump supposedly drawing the figure of a woman with 2 big curves for breasts and the scribbled signature "Donald" as the pubic hair.
Is that in the article or just the detritus of a bad dream? I don't know. There's that paywall. If you want to take down Trump — save the world from the marker-wielding fiend — you've got to show what you've got to everyone, not exploit the occasion for subscriptions.
And if I remember correctly from last night — or was it a dream? — you didn't even show us the drawing. I want to see this famous historical drawing that brought down a President. Has there ever been a drawing like this?
Here's what I prompted Grok: "Imagine a contest where you have to do a drawing that is supposedly by another American President that would reveal something this bad about him. What would be some entries in the contest? That is, what would it have been possible but terrible for Abe Lincoln to have sketched, etc." I'm sure you could think of funnier ideas that Grok described.
But let's see if I can get Grok to draw that picture Trump supposedly drew but the WSJ did publish (perhaps out of fear of getting "Rathergated"). Oh, no: "Unfortunately I can't generate that kind of image."
ADDED: If you were trying to play up to someone you knew was a pedophile, why would you emphasize a woman's pubic hair? It seems more like a way to call out and needle a pedophile. Try that interpretation, Trumpsters, if the letter turns out to be real.

Please. Stop.
Don't leave out the "typed" love note....
Althouse asked: "Is that in the article or just the detritus of a bad dream?
According to Grok, that drawing is in the article, but the WSJ did not print the drawing and only selectively quoted from the letter in a way that suggests narrative creation.
They didn't just print a photo of the letter, which they would do if they were merely reporting news.
Okay, Wiklerster…
"Don't leave out the "typed" love note...."
Leave out? I told you I'm blocked by the paywall. I read it last night and remember only what I remember. Scroll down to this earlier post if you want material from someone who's looking at the whole article https://althouse.blogspot.com/2025/07/the-wall-street-journal-late-last-night.html

Recollections of Dan Rather and the TX ANG letter...
Althouse asked: "If you were trying to play up to someone you knew was a pedophile, why would you emphasize a woman's pubic hair? It seems more like a way to call out and needle a pedophile."
The facts of the Epstein case that we know about suggest that he and his buddies (and Trump) weren't pedophiles, but were ephebophiles (sp). Attracted to technically mature children (girls under 18), but who had achieved puberty and would theoretically have pubic hair despite not being 18.
Statuatory rapists, in other words. Who are getting away with it thanks to Trump forcing the DOJ to drop any further investigation.
"According to Grok, that drawing is in the article...."
Really? Quote that part. I couldn't find it. And when I asked Grok if it had said that, it said it did not.
Whether it's Hillary Clinton wearing pantsuits or Trump drawing naked women in a letter he sent to a pedophile, both candidates took a provocative approach to women's attire.
…and the scribbled signature "Donald" as the pubic hair.
Accusations old and new, Trump should share a can of Coke with Justice Clarence Thomas.
"WSJ is blocking me unless I subscribe."
Trying to hide its slander and libel would be evidence of guilt in a civil case.
"Whether it's Hillary Clinton wearing pantsuits or Trump drawing naked women in a letter he sent to a pedophile, both candidates took a provocative approach to women's attire."
Reminds me of the Clinton In A Blue Dress painting front and center at Jeffrey Epstein's Manhattan apartment.
https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/epstein-clinton-dress-painting/
But yeah OK, Trump drew some pubes. Oh my.
So many past facts are being omitted by the press. Like Jeffrey being allowed a get out of jail free card in 2008. Like one of the girls (Virginia Roberts) (photographed with Price Andrew) being hit by a bus in the middle of nowhere in Australia
If was on Drudge last night. How did that happen?

Trump’s pro-child-rape letter to Jeffrey Epstein is a glorious example of his right to free speech and should be celebrated as such.
"Really? Quote that part."
I wish I could, but I'm using the free version of Grok on X and it "forgets" conversations if you close the window. I asked Grok generally to explain the WSJ's article and it included details about the drawing. I reached my 18 question limit and am locked out for 2 hours now.
Do not see anything like the typed letter or the fat marker drawing.
The version I prefer is "who cares?" There's no evidence they were in friends or hung out together. They were both in the New York scene so they were at some of the same parties. That's it. That's all the TDS sufferers have at this point.
Find something dated after Epstein got caught and maybe I'll care then.
Kak-a-phony said "Trump’s pro-child-rape letter"
oooo - please tell more about the pro-child-rape letter.
Do you have a copy?

Ahhh ... I was able to circumvent their paywall:
Wall Street Journal: "The letter bearing Trump’s name, which was reviewed by the Journal, is bawdy—like others in the album. It contains several lines of typewritten text framed by the outline of a naked woman, which appears to be hand-drawn with a heavy marker. A pair of small arcs denotes the woman’s breasts, and the future president’s signature is a squiggly “Donald” below her waist, mimicking pubic hair.
The letter concludes: “Happy Birthday — and may every day be another wonderful secret.”
The MSM a threading a needle here. They desperately want the Epstein story to be about Trump's direct involvement - red meat for what little proggy audience they have left - not about a cover-up for foreign intelligence activity on US soil that further implicates themselves over decades of complicity.
They're trying to do 2 things at the same time...poorly, as usual.
@FormerLawClerk
Thanks for bringing up a scientific topic that's repeatedly brought up and never gets any traction. I think people know these distinctions but decline to use them. There's also hebephilia. Why didn't you mention that?
I would suggest it's because you're doing the same thing you're complaining about: Omitting the distinctions that some scientists have studied and opined on. See "Pedophiles, Hebephiles and Ephebophiles, Oh My: Erotic Age Orientation/Why most 'pedophiles' aren't really pedophiles, technically speaking" (Scientific American).
But the question isn't really who has pubic hair, who doesn't, and how pedophilic are those who don't want to see pubic hair, but: What was in the mind of Donald Trump? The drawing, if it was done by him and sent to Epstein, reflects what he thought as he responded to Epstein's having a birthday.
Personally, I can't conceive of Trump giving a damn about Epstein's birthday. But I think if he drew pubic hair "at" Epstein, it would mean something like: Unlike you, I'm a real man who loves real women.

I look forward to the WSJ settling this case.
Even Rich has to know he is going to look stupid having pushed this obvious fakery.
Just a really stupid gullible person.
The framing of the WSJ's report on the letter suggests they are being shown the letter, but are not allowed to photograph it and must instead describe it. The FBI is in possession of the letter and all other evidence in the Epstein case.
The FBI we can conclude, is now leaking against Trump to overthrow the Presidency. Just like they did Nixon.
Even when you go to the internet archive, it has a 'slide the puzzle piece' capcha that you of course can't slide, because it's what has been archived. Looks like the Subscriptions Dept. has this article on Double Secret Probation.

And even stronger evidence of actual malice and for punitive damages.
That WSJ Washington bureau has always been a sinkhole. Never forget, for years the head of WSJ's Washington bureau was...Al Hunt. Help!
Althouse asked: "There's also hebephilia. Why didn't you mention that?"
Frankly? I don't like searches of this type being in my Google search history. I had to look up ephebophilia to make sure I understood it correctly and had the spelling right, but just stopped there because it's all fucking icky. No attempt to hide anything.
I have no idea even now what hebephilia is but I'm pretty sure I don't want that knowledge.
Topicality, topicality, topicality. After literally a decade of going after Trump, this is what we're supposed to digest at the height of a scandal as legit when everything else was sewn from whole cloth?
Same goes for the WSJ as it goes for Trump: Jedi mind tricks don't work on us.

Which reinforces my point that people don't want to use these distinctions. I bet even if you read the Scientific American article I linked to, you'd forget it in a year or so and maybe just remember that there are these distinctions, but you don't feel like using them.
I'd suggest that mentally healthy people feel revulsion to the entire category of behavior and don't want to look at the details.
The distinctions tend to come up in the context of wanting to say that what someone did or is accused of doing isn't as bad as something else. Maybe if you're wondering if it's okay to read Oscar Wilde or listen to Michael Jackson.

I think that's backwards. They are not "hiding" their slander. They are trying to sell it for money. Which is evidence of motive and malice, but not guilt.
If there were any truth at all on the Epstein Hoax, as it pertains to President Trump, this information would have been revealed by Comey, Brennan, Crooked Hillary, and other Radical Left Lunatics years ago.
You ever consider that there were high-profile clients on both sides of the political aisle and it would have been problematic to expose Trump without also exposing important Democrats (Bill Clinton if you like).
“ I look forward to the WSJ settling this case.”
I look forward to discovery….
DBQ - right? ! ...or drawing a outline of a woman with a fat sharpie.
Is anyone asserting that Trump did the typing?
Maybe he had someone else prepare the whole thing, including writing the text, and all he did was slyly write "Donald" as the pubic hair.
Isn't that plausible (and meaningless)?

First of all, 12-year olds don't count as "technically mature" no matter who you are.
https://nypost.com/2019/08/19/jeffrey-epstein-was-sent-three-12-year-old-french-girls-as-birthday-gift/
Secondly, I find it interesting that just about every independent creator on YouTube, right or left, is extremely against the Trump DOJ's behavior on this issue. In fact, it's mainly JNS, Ben Shapiro, and Alan Dershowitz claiming that Epstein is mainly about ephebophilia and you're an antisemite if you think a foreign intelligence service was involved. The WSJ trying to market forgeries to NeverTrumpers is probably good for subscriptions, but should ultimately convince President Trump that supporting the friends of Epstein (and Israel by association) is increasingly a losing hand. Release the files, Mister President.
If you want content that isn't behind a paywall, you could do worse than educate yourself with Tucker Carlson.
https://www.youtube.com/live/0BGfo4yiCc8?feature=shared
Donald could have written his first name so that it looked like a mouse.
Freder--Bill Clinton was already exposed, as was Prince Andrew. Heaven only knows what Bill Gates, Leon Black, and Les Wexner were up to. Alan Dershowitz was smeared and gave Virginia Giuffre a metaphoric knuckle sandwich in return. Jes Staley got defenestrated from being the CEO of Barclays.
There is plenty of news here, but it is all old news.
Tucker Carlson needs an editor. He says lots of stupid stuff.
"...you're an antisemite if you think a foreign intelligence service was involved. "
Haha yep. The actual lead they keep trying to bury is staring everyone in the face.
If this alleged letter/card was the reason why the Trump administration bailed on releasing the "files" on Epstein, we have a far bigger issue than whether it's genuine, whether Epstein was a Mossad agent, and whether our intelligence agencies have been blackmailing people.
This is petty stuff.
I'm still baffled as to what is really going on here.
Why didn't the DOJ issue a real "report" addressing the various issues and reasons why they can't release various aspects of the information and materials they have (as opposed to the vague, unsigned memo)? Why is Trump doing this stuff (attacking his supporters and telling them to shut up? WTF?). Head fake? Head fake that backfired? Cover up?
As someone here has already noted, there is another shoe to drop.
Wait! So who killed Epstein? This bullshit demonstrates how far down the mediaswine have dragged us. There will be no evidence of criminal activity adduced. It’s all about smearing Trump and stimulating TDS and Republican cannibalism.
The WSJ CFO doesn’t want to destroy Trump or not destroy Trump. He or she wants their bonus. That is the only thing that drives the editorial decisions.
Heh.

Having cracked the code (by being a long-time subscriber), here is what WSJ claims:
"It isn’t clear how the letter with Trump’s signature was prepared. Inside the outline of the naked woman was a typewritten note styled as an imaginary conversation between Trump and Epstein, written in the third person.
“Voice Over: There must be more to life than having everything,” the note began.
Donald: Yes, there is, but I won’t tell you what it is.
Jeffrey: Nor will I, since I also know what it is.
Donald: We have certain things in common, Jeffrey.
Jeffrey: Yes, we do, come to think of it.
Donald: Enigmas never age, have you noticed that?
Jeffrey: As a matter of fact, it was clear to me the last time I saw you.
Donald: A pal is a wonderful thing. Happy Birthday — and may every day be another wonderful secret."

I often feel this way about PJMedia, particularly Stephen Green.
Yes they are.

Ann blocked from spreading the propaganda. Quelle horeuer
I'm a Trump hater but this sure smells fake. And why didn't the WSJ publish the "letter." Why can't we see it? Why only a description? Let me judge with my own eyes whether it looks like something Trump would create.
It's possible that its "real" in the sense that an assistant worked with Maxwell to include it on Trump's behalf but so what? They were friends at the time and we all know that. What is special about a friend wishing another a happy birthday.
The whole thing seems too "cute" and "on the nose" to be real.
Don't see how the threatened libel suit survives a motion to dismiss unless the document described does not exist.
You can stop all the speculation about lawsuits. The article was obviously scrubbed up and down, backwards and forwards, by WSJ legal. Unless they have an impending capital markets transaction that requires FCC approval (which they don't), there is nothing for the Journal to worry about. Particularly given the downside to Trump sparking the Streisand Effect.
The "bombshell" itself is a squib--so Trump wrote the equivalent of a high-school yearbook razz on a birthday book 20 odd years ago, acknowledging that both had a "wild and crazy guy" reputation back then. Hardly a smoking gun.
The description of the sketch had me wondering: what happened to the supposed extinction of pubic lice resulting from brazilian bikini-waxes and shaves ?
Trump should release it all just to put an end to this. Obviously a guy like Epstein kept dirt as insurance, otherwise why would Maxwell be in prison? Epstein was a well known guy in NYC circles of the rich and famous and it isn't surprising that he had relations with people who had no knowledge of his sleaze. So the list of people will probably have names of people that were not involved in the sleaze but only were involved with Epstein in the business and charity NYC circles. But it's probable that there are prominent names on the sleaze list, names of powerful people on both sides of the aisle so just release it all and be done with it.
cubanbob said, "Trump should release it all just to put an end to this."
It will end nothing. Instead it will begin something else, but not anything connected to this juvenile prank. That's why it won't happen.
Althouse said bad dream. Uh-huh-huh, uh-huh-huh…
I assume that, if there was something that tied Trump to Epstein in a sleazy way, the Biden DOJ would have found and published it.
I hope Trump wins in court.
The text described sounds literally nothing like Donald Trump would write. This birthday letter is almost certainly fake for that reason alone. I could write a far more authentic bawdy birthday letter in the style of Trump to Epstein without any exertion at all- and so could almost all you guys.
"You take on the intelligence community they have six ways from Sunday at getting back at you." - Sen. Chuck Schumer
And I am with Cubanbob- just release it and damn the torpedoes.
@Yancey, there's other quirky little message from Dershowitz and Wexner and so many others in that book. This is the equivalent of calling someone on the chess team gay in a high school yearbook.
Nothingburger with cheese.
"just release it and damn the torpedoes."
The torpedoes might sink an ally.
Freder: “You ever consider that there were high-profile clients on both sides of the political aisle…?”
You ever consider that’s still true and Trump’s DOJ could take the pressure off Trump by releasing “everything,” if there is an “everything.” Bottom line: It’s all bullshit. In other words, fodder for Dems, their leftmediaswine and NeverTrumpers.

Green is a Murdoch muppet but Ed Driscoll is worse.
They are both captured shills. Glenn tries to keep it low key but his gig with the NY Post just outs the whole thing.
As long as you understand that Instapundit is part of the Murdoch enterprise and everything posted there is in service to globalism free trade and never ending war it is a source of information.
If you think that site supports what Trump is doing in any way you are fooling yourself.
You can stop all the speculation about lawsuits. The article was obviously scrubbed up and down, backwards and forwards, by WSJ legal.
You mean there is internal communications within the WSJ on whether they should run this story with doubt about its veracity and they ran it anyway? That makes this seem malicious.
"Bottom line: It’s all bullshit
The thing about Washington DC bullshit is that it can still be useful. The story doesn't have to be true to hurt Trump. That's what he forgets. Trump LOOKS guilty. If Trump WAS guilty, he'd be acting exactly the same way he is currently acting. And so he reinforces this belief, whether it's true or not.
As soon as Trump said Epstein is now a Hoax and told his own supporters to fuck off, Trump fucked up. Big time.
People no longer care now whether the Epstein stories are true. They can be used to hurt Trump nevertheless.
And in that sense, it's not bullshit. It's real.
The letter itself is so weak, that it brings to mind the tactics used to get the Steele Dossier into public view. Nobody wanted to touch it, but as soon as one dubious purveyor put it out there, the rest could then report on that tidbit, in 'news about the news' fashion, thus not having to be responsible for explaining its doubtful legitimacy. By this afternoon, every publisher will be talking about 'that WSJ story on the Epstein Letter' and the huge impact it's making.
"You mean there is internal communications within the WSJ on whether they should run this story with doubt about its veracity and they ran it anyway? That makes this seem malicious.
That right there sounds a lot like "malice aforethought."
I remember when people said Trump wouldn't sue ABCNews for calling him a rapist. Can't win, they said. Public figure, they said. Sullivan, they said.
Then it turned out ABC News' lawyers specifically told ABC News and George Stephanopolis NOT to call Trump a rapist, and he did it anyway.
I sure would like to get a look at whether WSJ's attorneys told them not to publish this story.

It was the right that has kept flogging the Epstein horse. To turn around and now claim that it was the "leftmediaswine" that kept this story alive now that it is biting Trump in the ass is turning the truth on its head.
I accessed the WSJ through Archive yesterday using the Edge browser since my Google access shut down after the last update. But the word is out that Trump sold his crude drawings of the NY skyline on line for $30 grand. Also, a former Trump Plaza executive described Jeffrey Epstein as Donald Trump's "best friend" and alleged that they were once caught bringing women under 21 into the casino. That is obviously true because the Whitehouse called the former employee a "liar and fraud." Since Trump only hires the bestest staff, that just cannot be true.
I agree with some discovery:
here's some:
#BREAKING:
"TRUMP’S ALLEGED EPSTEIN BDAY LETTER: The Wall Street Journal reporter who broke the “blockbuster” story alleging a letter Trump wrote to Epstein for his 50th birthday included some tawdry elements previously worked for Main Justice (his only prior reporting experience listed in his bio).
Main Justice was Glenn Simpson’s wife’s publication. Simpson founded Fusion GPS, which was paid by Hillary Clinton/the DNC (through Perkins Coie) to produce the Steele Dossier at the center of the Russian hoax against Trump.
Both Glenn Simpson and his wife, Mary Jacoby, worked for the Wall Street Journal before launching their own enterprises.
Trump is now suing the Wall Street Journal over the “blockbuster” letter story, arguing that it’s bogus and they never showed him it so he could comment."
hmmmmmmm.
also lolz - = the' lefts adoration of "free speech" - when they are allowed to lie.
Trump used Bill Burkett's typewriter to write the note.
Here is a link, https://archive.is/6Tsa1, provided by CitizenFreePress.com (much better than Droodge). I would not characterize that text as "bawdy".
Trump says the whole letter is "fake".
Will the WSJ tell us where the letter came from and under what circumstances did the paper come to possess it? Who had it all this time and why? What does the paper know about their motives? What steps if any did the paper take to verify authenticity?
FormerLawClerk said, "Twitchy out with the receipts showing this Wall Street Journal story is a Fusion/GPS hit piece orchestrated by none other than Hillary Clinton."

Hitllary will never forgive America's voters for what we made her dainty little dossier do to us.
With Alina Habba leaving the US Attorney’s Office that frees her up to be able to handle Trump’s lawsuit against Rupert Murdoch. Got to have the best possible lawyer on that one.
"You can stop all the speculation about lawsuits. The article was obviously scrubbed up and down, backwards and forwards, by WSJ legal. "
Yeah, CBS legal 'scrubbed' that 60 minutes show too. And didn't Trump get the WaPo to retract an article after threatening a lawsuit?
And Murdoch paid Dominion Software $900 million in an out of court settelment over Tucker carlson's "defamation". No doubt that was "scrubbed by legal" too.
Let WSJ give us their sources for the letter and what steps they did to authenticate it. That they wont do that, shows its just BS.
Let's assume the drawing is real.
Its from 2003.
Epstein was first investigated in 2005 for his sex crimes. Pleaded guilty in 2008.
So, its possible everyone was told to make a dirty drawing for a birthday event.
Who cares?
Also, the text makes zero sense. It sounds like its designed to add fire to a conspiracy theory without being provable and avoid being sued.
Its not funny, or punny, etc. Its designed to intrigue you to speculate. Dumb.
I guess the forger didn't think just the drawing would work.
Occam's Razor still says that Trump couldn't possibly be implicated in Epstein's crimes for the simple reason that the Biden misadministration would have used it.
If the last 10 years have shown us anything its that the MSM will print ANYTHING that shows someone they dislike in a bad light. And they will make things up, rely on biased sources and hearsay evidence. And hide that by using phrases like "Sources familiar with the situtation" "Confirmed with sources with access to the information"

Read the article. LOL.
The letter bearing Trump’s name, which was reviewed by the Journal, is bawdy—like others in the album. It contains several lines of typewritten text framed by the outline of a naked woman, which appears to be hand-drawn with a heavy marker. A pair of small arcs denotes the woman’s breasts, and the future president’s signature is a squiggly “Donald” below her waist, mimicking pubic hair.
The letter concludes: “Happy Birthday — and may every day be another wonderful secret.”
yeah, sure that line of text makes total sense to write to someone...NOT.
Its obviously designed to imply knowledge. wink wink.
Maybe the secret was Trump's love for urinating prostitutes on Obama mattresses in hotels?
Remember when that creative fiction was leaked?
I don't know where this is true in other cities, but your library card at the Cincinnati Public Library lets you log into their website and get free access to The Wall Street Journal and many other publications. It's all text-based so you don't get to see images, but otherwise everything is there, and it's all searchable.
It's clearly not The Main Street Journal.
I think that we can all definitively agree on one major aspect surrounding this revelation:
Trump is a terrible artist and should be banned from doodling.
Harvey Weinstein assaulted some of the most famous and wealthy women in America. I don't know the dynamics of how he did it, but I'm pretty sure he didn't have the help of Mossad or the CIA in furtherance of his career or libido and yet he got away with it for decades.......Epstein was with hundreds of underage girls. They're all of age now, and any one of them could go to a publisher and make millions. There's definitely some kind of cover up going on.......It's just a Darwinian fact that men are attracted to young, virginal women. Something to do with the empty womb. Epstein didn't indulge or trade in some rare, weird fetish, but I think it's rare and weird that someone would risk his career, reputation, and fortune when there's so many women of legal age who serve such purposes just as well.......The letter doesn't sound a bit like Trump. It's kind of literary and allusive. That's not his style. If he gets bawdy, he'd be more likely to use a word like enema than enigma.
FLC: Twitchy infers that that the so-called WSJ "hit piece" was sponsored by Hillary Clinton with no proof. The Fusion/GPS story is 10 years-old for God's Sake and Hillary lost. Joe Palazzolo never worked for Fusion/GPS. He worked for Main Justice. Twitchy reaches deep into history but shows no direct connection to this writer; the MAGA leanings are obvious.
Harun
That is what several of us noticed right away. "Type-written".
Who does that with a personal note?
I have a WSJ subscription and I'm not giving them the clicks on this one.
Maybe they can bring Comey and Brennan back to "investigate".

I'm so old, I remember when Comey leaked to the media, he used the same technique. He leaked it to a buddy who would READ parts of a document over the phone to the journolist.
The journolist was not allowed to see the physical document.
Let’s get the lawsuit filed and get it going! 🍿
the future president’s signature is a squiggly “Donald”
I may have heard DJT refer to himself as "The Donald" (although, that might just be others reference to him), but almost everything in Trump's life references him by his last name "Trump". Is there any letter or document signed by Trump that didn't use his last name, and especially if only one name, exclusively was written "Donald". I've never seen that from him. With his style of communication, it is a level of closeness and endearment that I would think would be reserved if for anyone, then family alone. I realize that's one reason to suggest a greater bond to Epstein but first show me Trump did that with anyone else.
When I Google this (I don't use AI, because I don't see the need to pay for it), I get stories of Trump referring to himself as "KING", which bolsters my point above. Elizabeth would always refer to herself as "Queen" or "Queen Elizabeth", and I doubt ever signed a letter to anyone as "Beth" or "Lisa" or "Elizabeth" outside of maybe a family member.

Will the WSJ tell us where the letter came from and under what circumstances did the paper come to possess it?
That's the story they should have run. Even if they wanted Trump to look bad. They should have written "we got this thing sent to us. These people suggest it is authentic. Realizing others will likely report on it, we decided to go ahead and run this story to allow people to see the material and come to their own conclusions on what it means and motivations behind it." It is essentially what Buzzfeed did with the Steele Dossier, which pissed off everybody pushing it, because we weren't ever supposed to actually see the Steele Dossier.
I think the Journal is pissed at Trump because their prediction of runaway inflation due to Trump’s tariffs has not happened and apparently never will.
Typewritten? And with a real typewriter this time, not WYSIWYG technology? Maybe the forgers learned something from Rathergate?
Given Adam Schiff's ties with Fusion and collusion, I wouldn’t be surprised if Schiff was the instigator behind this WSJ article. He was just referred to DOJ for possible mortgage fraud and was quite teed off about it.
Funny - he was on Colbert last night too. A tell?
Jeff Childers has a good analysis of this. He points out that the WSJ does not have a copy of the letter but has only "reviewed" it. He further points out that parsing their language, he suspects that they have not even laid eyes on the letter but are relying on a description by someone else, unidentified. They don't even say whether it was typed or handwritten.
Absent the original, he points out, it is impossible to do forensic analysis to determine when it was written or by who.
Childers also had some comments on the potential release of the grand jury docs. The files, having spent 4 years in custody of a corrupt FBI & DOJ have probably been tampered with.
The grand jury proceedings, which will have the best evidence of wrongdoing that DOJ could come up with, have been under seal since 2019 and could not have been tampered with. Not sure I agree with "could not" but surely less likely to have been tampered with.

For those publication interested in cheap clicks; look how this is working out for Althouse. This is her 2nd post on the topic, and it already has 2.5 times the comments of her other posts from earlier today, and her comments are questioning the veracity. If publications such as the WSJ were self-interested in gaining readership, while also reporting things in the news and being first to it; there were other ways to accomplish this.
So, a snap poll: Does this story make the public more, or less interested in seeing the Epstein story fully and fairly covered?
It seems to me that a lot of journalists are saying that the public want to see the files released, in pursuit of a 'list of clients', or to punish pedophiles, or to expose something about the rich and powerful. Is that really accurate? The reason I think it's a mistake not to open up an inquiry, is because we don't know the source of Epstein's wealth, and don't know what he was really up to, but more importantly, when he was ultimately targeted, who made that decision?
What absolute arrogance, to think that this story could be denied without a due explanation, and removed from the scrutiny of voters ! For the FBI to just jump in and remove the data-gathering devices and digital evidence at all of Epstein's residences, which demonstrated such an obvious investment in surveillance technology - and then pretend they have nothing of any interest ! To tell Americans that they don't have any right to closure on this, to have it explained, to be instructed instead that they should just move along and pretend it's a hoax, when it obviously was something with a purpose, on a scale that required planning and expertise, at the time.
And then, to have those same faceless players dribble out crap like this on a long-handled spoon, and expect it to be swallowed whole. It has the same flavor as those acts, by the prior administration, to cancel people, close their social media accounts, prosecute them for protesting or just asking questions. It's the raw abuse of power by people determined to stay faceless and at arm's length, so they may preserve their power and authority undisputed, and it cannot stand. This rot has to be confronted and rooted out, I think. There's still too much willingness for malice lurking there.
I'm less interested. This makes the whole Epstein saga seem like something meant to derail Trump's agenda. Does it piss off MAGA supporters, who believe Epstein worked for US or allied intelligence services, and therefore they want accountability for those that put Epstein on the US payroll? Sure. But it looks more like intelligence services used the fact that Epstein existed as a way to smear whomever, and if anything, left Epstein's business alone, so that they could build their own blackmail with it. Epstein seems more like a high-priced pimp with special services. The be repetitive, his intelligence use was simply tracking those that did business with him. That's a smart thing for an intelligence community to do.
Expect more of this kind of thing. Expect a regular drip of nasty, slanderous smears from muddy sources designed to erode Trump's image in the public mind.
There are a lot of powerful people threatened by the Epstein scandal, but there are also a lot of powerful interests not threatened by the Epstein scandal but threatened by other things Trump is doing who can take advantage of the Epstein scandal because it's so much in the public mind right now.
So he’s going to sue the ass off of the Wall Street Journal? I look forward to hearing about the information that will be revealed in the discovery. Interesting times ahead.
... there are also a lot of powerful interests not threatened by the Epstein scandal but threatened by other things Trump is doing who can take advantage of the Epstein scandal because it's so much in the public mind right now.
And Trump did nothing but fan the flames of his own destruction by telling his own supporters to go fuck themselves.
These would have been people who would be out with condemnations of the WSJ that are today noticeably quiet.
People don't like being told to go fuck themselves.
"The framing of the WSJ's report on the letter suggests they are being shown the letter, but are not allowed to photograph it and must instead describe it."
IOW, they have no objective proof about the letter. We're supposed to TRUST the WSJ reporter that (a) the letter exists (b) it is the way described and (c) its not a fake. Y'know take their word on it. Assuming its more than one.
And if they cant take pictures and don't have the actual letter, how can they authenticate it?
Its more likely the letter is not in possession of the WSJ and its never been seen by a reporter. The entire story is just made up by a non-credible source to hurt Trump. And the WSJ - as usual - threw out all objectivity to "Get Trump".
This reminds me of Russiagate, where the MSM was constantly reporting as "fact" something someone told them. And we the public couldn't verify it because it was "classified" or "Part of an on-going investigation". And everything turned out to be fake and made up.
@Bob Boyd, Leland - So, assuming its only modern purpose is for future smears, it seems to me the best way to eliminate that weapon is with sunlight. Is it a case, once again, that those slinging the mud seem to assume the public is incapable of skepticism of their motives?
Given the last 10 years, you'd have to be someone filled with hate for Trump, or a gullible rube, to trust anything negative about Trump in the MSM that is not supported by objective proof.
I got the from Redstate, a conservative blog:
Here's what the Journal doesn't tell you: They provide no evidence that this letter was authenticated. No handwriting analysis. No chain of custody documentation. No forensic verification. Just their word that they "reviewed" it among Justice Department documents.
The paper admits they don't know "how the letter with Trump's signature was prepared," yet they're comfortable plastering it across their front page anyway. If you can't verify authenticity, why publish it at all?
[My emphasis]
Good question.
"And if they cant take pictures and don't have the actual letter, how can they authenticate it?"
They can't. And they don't have to.
One of the bylined authors of the story has deep ties to Fusion/GPS, which manufactured at Hillary Clinton's request, the Infamous Trump Dossier.
This is another Hillary/Deep State takedown of Trump, likely in retaliation for his attack on and defunding of USAID. It cannot be stressed enough: USAID was the Democrats money-laundering operation that used taxpayer dollars to fund approximately 90% of everything the DNC spends, by washing the donations through NGOs the Democrats control.
This birthday book is in the possession of people in the Department of Justice - meaning Pam Bondi. All of the Epstein evidence will now be slowly leaked out of the DOJ to bring Trump down. He'll lose the mid-terms; Democrats will take the House, they will impeach him, and the Senate will convict him.
And Trumps supporters won't be around to assist him because they'll be too busy fucking themselves.
Poor Dingabat about to be disappointed again. I don't think a case against the WSJ for libel will succeed given the jurisdiction a lawsuit will likely be filed in but I also felt the same way about the lawsuits against ABC and CBS and both entities ended up settling for large sums just to prevent discovery. The WSJ might well settle for the same reasons given this fundamental fact- Trump doesn't actually have to prove the allegation is false, only that the WSJ ran the story without any authentication at all including not even having a photograph of the letter itself- the discussions over that decision are not going to be pretty for the WSJ if all they have is a second-hand story about the letter which might even be third hand given the way the story was written.
If you want to see how a MSM news organization can lie about having "authentic documents" go read the Wikipedia on Dan Rather's Fake NG papers attacking Bush in 2004. The producer Mapes, hid who the source was and described him as "an unimpeachable source". CBS also claimed the documents were authentic, when in fact they'd done almost nothing to authenticate them. And they were fakes.
Its just the same ol pattern with the MSM. If something hurts their freinds, then the sources are identified and their evidence "Fact checked". If something hurts Trump or people they don't like, then sources are hidden, and almost no fact checking is done, because they want the story to be true.
Tim and ocean. I agree.

I'm good with sunlight generally, but the problem is several of those that stand to be smeared have already gotten judicial decisions to block the release and prevent the smear. This is one of the problems Bondi faced (and I still think she was dumb to mouth off that she had the documents and could release them).
I think the only effective thing that can be done within the law would be to release "if" (that's a huge if masquerading as a small if) and how the Intelligence Community used Epstein as an uncooperating asset to build blackmail material on his clients. But that would require exposing a method and tactic; which ICs the world over avoid doing. Otherwise, it is like so many conspiracy theories of historical note. They persist because it is just impossible to disprove.
Meanwhile, on conspiracies that can be proven; charges are moving forward on the improper IC use of Crossfire Hurricane. That will dwarf all this in due course, and most likely snag all those involved in Epstein anyway.

But we HAVE known for years that Trump flew around on Lolita Express and used to party with Epstein. Those are known facts. Tons of smoke. Is there fire? Sit down and talk to the media about your relationship. If you have "nothing to hide" why are you hiding shit?
What you fail to consider is that that Trump is protecting **other scumbags**. Doesn't *that* bother you, because it should. Is it "America" First or is it "Pedos First."
Let me repeat: Bill Gates belongs in front of a jury. Bill Clinton likely does as well. Both men should face consequence. Neither man will because Trump is protecting either himself or his scumbag friends.
I can't wait for the drop of Trump's notebook of Haikus.

Something about that pic looks off. There's video of Trump and Eppy chatting at a party where Trump is much taller than him. Epstein looks oversized, including facially, in the photo.
Trump is suing. He told the WSJ that the letter was totally fake and they published the story anyway.
Also, they don't even have the letter in their possession.
Plus, this story is really lame. Oh, look! a grown man sent a naughty doodle to another grown man for his birthday! And this was long before anyone knew that Epstein was a sexual predator.

The rest of Twitchy's story about MainJustice, com:
MainJustice.com debuted online in July 2009. The website was the brainchild of Mary Jacoby, who became its editor upon its establishment.
Before setting up Main Justice, Jacoby had worked as a reporter for several top media houses, including the Wall Street Journal, the Chicago Tribune, and the St Petersburg Times of Florida.
At MainJustice.com, Jacoby had Farhan Daredia as the assistant editor. Andrew Ramonas and Joe Palazzolo were reporters.
In a notice published by MainJustice.com in 2015, the site announces that “the free Main Justice site no longer publishes regularly.” This announcement followed the sale of some subscription assets run by Jacoby to Law Business Research Ltd. Law Business Research is a global resource for legal professionals.
Main Justice only published "inside" articles about the Justice Department in DC.

“In 1993, Ghislaine Maxwell commissioned a song for Jeffrey Epstein's 40th birthday, written by journalist Christopher Mason.
Mason recounted in the Lifetime documentary 'Surviving Jeffrey Epstein' that Maxwell provided very specific and uncomfortable instructions for the lyrics. The song was to include phrases like "schoolgirl crushes and Epstein's 24-hour erections".
Lyrics shared by Mason included:
"Poor Jeffrey Epstein is 40, oy vey!"
"He sure looks older but it's clear from his smile, the older he gets, the more juvenile".
"Ghislaine is lavishing him with her affections, she claims he has 24-hour erections".
"The naughty boy blushes to think of school girls and all of their crushes".
Mason described the birthday gathering as a small event with "six guys wearing black tie," where the song was performed while sitting on the floor. The lyrics made Mason reflect, "God, it seems so creepy, I'm afraid".
The party took place at Epstein's French neoclassical townhouse, and attendees reportedly included billionaire Leslie Wexner. According to Tara Palmeri of The Red Letter, the song and the entire event were part of a larger strategy to "normalize the depravity" and lure powerful men with the promise of "sex and secrecy".’

Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) on Thursday slammed the Trump administration for not making deceased sex offender Jeffrey Epstein’s financial records available to Congress and the public.
“Big news from my investigators on Epstein’s sex trafficking operation: the Trump administration has an Epstein file detailing 4,725 wire transfers and almost $1.1 billion flowing through just one of his banks. Hundreds of millions more through others,” Wyden alleged in a post on the social platform X.
“Epstein had to pay for all his sex trafficking somehow. Further evidence shows he used Russian banks to process hundreds of millions in payments. Again, this is info in the possession of the Trump administration, but they’re refusing to investigate,” he added in a later post.”
Sorry to have to bring up Russian banks again, lol…
Inag-
Alternate reality that never happened, but could have:
"Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) on Thursday slammed THE BIDEN administration for not making deceased sex offender Jeffrey Epstein’s financial records available to Congress and the public. "
“Here's a summary of the information:
Wyden, the top Democrat on the Senate Finance Committee, has been investigating Epstein's financial network and claims to have reviewed confidential files detailing thousands of wire transfers and billions of dollars flowing through Epstein's accounts.
Some of the wire transfers, totaling as much as $100 million each, reportedly involved accounts at Russian banks before those banks were subject to U.S. sanctions.
Wyden suggests that these transactions, including payments to women from countries like Russia, Belarus, and Turkey, point to an international sex trafficking operation that cost Epstein a significant amount of money.
He alleges that the Trump administration is withholding these financial records and has accused the Treasury Department of refusing to investigate the matter further.”
Epstein had to pay for all his sex trafficking somehow. Further evidence shows he used Russian banks to process hundreds of millions in payments.
If the evidence wasn't released, how does Sen. Wyden know this? Did he provide evidence to you, Inga? The assertion is made without any evidence being provided, while whining about not having evidence. And you are buying this?
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/07/07/business/jeffrey-epstein-deutsche-bank-settlement.html
“Deutsche Bank Settles Over Ignored Red Flags on Jeffrey Epstein
The German lender repeatedly overlooked suspicious transactions, including payments to people a New York regulator described as his co-conspirators.
Payments to his alleged co-conspirators. Money wired to Russian models. A cash withdrawal of $100,000 for “tips and household expenses.”
When Jeffrey Epstein moved his money, Deutsche Bank didn’t ask many questions.
In a $150 million settlement announced on Tuesday, the New York Department of Financial Services said Mr. Epstein, a convicted sex offender, had engaged in suspicious transactions for years, even though Deutsche Bank deemed him a “high risk” client from the moment he became a customer in summer 2013.
“Despite knowing Mr. Epstein’s terrible criminal history, the bank inexcusably failed to detect or prevent millions of dollars of suspicious transactions,” Linda A. Lacewell, the department’s superintendent, said in a statement.

"“The Biden Administration had access to this information during its tenure. The fact that Senator Wyden never asked Joe Biden or Merrick Garland to address this matter shows this is pathetic political theater and a complete joke.”"
more from Inag's Hill link:
"The reports were filed months after Epstein’s 2019 arrest on federal sex trafficking charges. However, a July memo from the Justice Department and FBI suggested the bulk of information related to Epstein’s crimes has been made available for public review.
But Wyden argues these SARs are the “coin of the realm” when it comes to combating misinformation about the billionaire’s illegal activity.
“When banks are only filing these reports after crooks like Epstein are dead or behind bars, that does not do anyone any good,” Wyden said of the filings, according to the Times.
Some of Epstein’s victims shared the same sentiments.
In 2023, they signed a $290 million settlement with JPMorgan and $75 million with Deutsche Bank after alleging the banks disregarded early signs of potential sex trafficking, according to the Times."

“In Epstein Case, Follow the Money, Democratic Senator Says
Senator Ron Wyden has found that four banks waited until Mr. Epstein’s arrest on federal charges to flag $1.5 billion in suspicious transactions. Mr. Wyden wants the documents made public.
Senator Ron Wyden of Oregon, the top Democrat on the powerful Senate Finance Committee, has been digging into Mr. Epstein’s financial network for the past three years. Some members of his staff have viewed confidential files that shed light on the immense sums of money that, they say, Mr. Epstein moved through the banking system to fuel his vast sex-trafficking network.
In particular, filings by four big banks flagged more than $1.5 billion in transactions — including thousands of wire transfers for the purchase and sale of artwork for rich friends, fees paid to Mr. Epstein by wealthy individuals, and payments to numerous women, the senator’s office found. The filings came after Mr. Epstein was arrested in 2019 on federal sex trafficking charges.
Large money transfers to individuals, foreign countries or obscure companies are the kind of things banks are supposed to be examining as potentially suspicious. Some of the Epstein money transfers disclosed in a report from JPMorgan Chase involved accounts at two Russian banks before those institutions were subject to U.S. sanctions. A few transactions red-flagged were for as much as $100 million.
The bank records reviewed by Mr. Wyden’s staff — called suspicious activity reports or SARs — are meant to be an early warning system for law enforcement about signs of illegal activity. As dictated by federal law, the reports are so confidential that banks can’t even acknowledge filing them, and people who have seen the documents are under great constraint as to what they can say about them.
Members of Mr. Wyden’s staff provided an overview of the banks’ reports to The New York Times based on their review of the filings.”

This is fun.
I asked for a 10,000 word epic poem about Kash Patel as if written by Donald Trump in the style of the Odessey. Grok said it could not give me 10,000 words but could give me 2 5,000 word epics. Here is the first bit of the first one.
The Patel Odyssey
An Epic of Kash, the Wizard of Truth, in the Style of Donald Trump
Sing, O Muse, of Kash Patel, the greatest, believe me,
A wizard of law, a lion, a star in the fray,
From Queens to the Capitol, bold and tremendous,
He fought for King Donald, the best, by the way.
No deep state, no swamp, could dim his great fire,
His heart like a rocket, his will never tires.
With scrolls of pure justice, he carved out his name,
Kash, the Discoverer, crowned with great fame.
In the year of our triumph, ’25, hear the tale,
When the gods of the free land did clash and prevail.
Great Zeus, that’s me, Donald, the king of all kings,
Looked down from Mar-a-Lago, where victory sings.
I chose Kash, my warrior, my wizard, my friend,
To slay the foul serpents the deep state did send.
“Patel,” I declared, “you’re the best, none compare,
Go forth, drain the swamp, make the liars beware!”
Book I: The Call from the King
In the halls of the free, where the heralds did lie,
Fake news, crooked scribes, spewing venom to the sky,
Kash Patel arose, from Garden City born,
A Gujarati hero, no man could he scorn.
With a mind sharp as steel, and a heart like a wall,
He heard mighty Zeus—King Donald’s great call.
“Wizard Kash,” I boomed, from my golden throne high,
“The deep state’s a cancer, make their schemes run dry!”
...
And so on, and on and on and on.

Slowest damn walls in the world if you ask me. They've been closing in for 10 years now and haven't moved enough that we can see it.
Idea for a short story: A reworking of Edgar Allen Poe's "Pit and the Pendulum".
The protagonist is trapped in a room with walls that are closing in. However, they close so slowly that she is in danger of starving to death years before being crushed. As she is about to breathe her last, the hero rushes in with an Arby's turkey sandwich which revives her and they live happily ever after.
(In an alternate ending, the hero brings her a chicken salad Shrewsbury from Boston, saves her and they live happily ever after)

Maybe Inga is thinking no one got out and pushed for the last 4 years. Who was responsible for pushing? That's what the rest of us want to know. See next post.
I assume it’s bullshit and note that the story is like 8th-hand hearsay by anonymous sources. Also, supposedly the Government had this evidence during all these years they were prosecuting Trump for using the incorrect salad fork but no one ever, ever mentioned this book, let alone a connection to Trump?
Epstein was arrested in July of 2019. Trump was still president until January 20, 2021. Trump became president on January 20, 2025. He has yet to release any Epstein files despite campaigning on it.
Why didn’t Democrats release any Epstein files? Probably because there were some Democrats in them. Why isn’t Trump releasing Epstein files, probably because HE and other powerful Republicans are in them.
Why should ANYONE who molests underage girls be protected?
