Semafor nonsense.
That's David Weigel, by the way.
If there's ever going to be a "liberal Joe Rogan," it's not going to happen that way.
In my opinion there is one — but only one — way to find a liberal Joe Rogan: He's right there. It's Joe Rogan. Let me help you in 3 steps: 1. See that Joe Rogan, as he already is, is pretty damned liberal, 2. Persuade Joe Rogan to lean further in the liberal direction on various issues where the liberal position is genuinely appealing, 3. Adjust your own vision of what it means to be liberal, so that it isn't gummed up with illiberal junk that has turned the public away from you, and maybe then you'll be able to see that Joe Rogan is more or less on your side, and, more important, maybe then you won't be so pathetically desperate to find "a Joe Rogan" to save you from the unpopularity that you deserve.
But, aside from all that, might Jaime Harrison do a good podcast? I'll cherry-pick from the little interview at the link to give you a sense of what he has to say:
I thought it would be really interesting to pull back the curtain so that people got a chance to understand who [Hunter Biden] is, and for him to get an opportunity to talk about some of the things that maybe he’s only been able to talk to his family members about. It’s a really, really interesting conversation. We had everything from laughter and joy to tears to anger to frustration....
The part that many of us loved about Joe Biden is that he’s real. He might mess up or say something that might not be the most PC here or there, but it just showed the humanity of the man. That was part of the charm of Joe Biden and why people loved him....
To be quite honest, I don’t know whose ultimate decision it was [for Kamala Harris not to do interviews]. I don’t know if it was Jen [O’Malley Dillon] or anybody else. But we had two weeks of — I mean, this just unnerved me in some ways – two weeks of, why isn’t Kamala doing interviews? Prior to that, she was knocking interviews out of the box.... I also felt that, in the end, they put a muzzle on both her and on Tim Walz. And I asked Gov. Walz about that. He was so loose during the whole veepstakes. He was great on TV. And I just don’t know what happened afterwards. That was my biggest frustration. But you know, hell, they put restrictor plates on me, too....
Does that sound the slightest bit like "a Joe Rogan"?

No it does not.
This reeks of the same wishful thinking (Democrat policies are wonderful, but the messaging is not good enough) that brought us the Air America talk radio debacle. I heartily urge the left to spend a huge amount of time and effort on this futile endeavor.
Good advice Althouse. But it wont be taken. THe liberal/left elite has their agenda and they'll stick to it, come hell or high water. Labeling Joe Rogan as "Conservative" is just their standard rhetorical strategy of otherizing anyone who disgrees with their liberal/left agenda. Even part of it.
Rogan should be thankful he's not been tagged as "far right" for talking to Trump.
Hostess awesome point #3 - "Adjust your own vision of what it means to be liberal". Very good point.
Take abortion, for instance. If abortion is a means to keep poor people, or people who believe they are not going to be good parents from producing, then abortion is conservative to keep the "dregs" from reproducing. The liberal counter to this would say we are all "beautiful in God's eye" whether a pauper or a Golden God.
Rogan did not start with a political slant — he just talked about getting high, or MMA, or faked moon landings with people he thought were interesting. Then two things happened: 1) the left went after him for not imposing purity tests on his guests, thereby “platforming” people who were “problematic”, and 2) treating himself with drugs including Ivermectin when he got COVID. These things made him “right wing” in the eyes of the Wokies.
Knocking interviews out of the box sounds a lot like thinking outside the park.
From my conservative "far right" perspective, Joe Rogan is just a fair minded liberal/leftist. What is conservative about him? Its gotten to the point that you're labeled "Far Right" if you have any patriotism or don't believe in supporting genocide in Gaza or a useless war in Ukraine, you're "Far Right". Or if you think censorship is wrong, or the POTUS should represent the people and not be a senile thug putting his opponents in jail.
The Liberal/left controlls the media, they own the microphone so their weird view of things is the mainstream one.
A "liberal Joe Rogan" would be one who doesn't ask difficult questions of Democrats. For three hours.
Joe Rogan absolutely BLISTERED Donald Trump and his corrupt administration in his Monday show, primarily for protecting pedophiles. Democrats don't need a liberal Joe Rogan. They just need to attack Donald Trump where he is weak.
Joe Rogan is already anti-Trump.
"she was knocking interviews out of the box"
Yeah, is that an intentional insult or is Harrison trying to use a sports metaphor and failing miserably? The "box" in baseball is where the batter stands, and hitting the ball out of that area is something that happens with even the worst hit ball.
He's probably mixing it up with "thinking outside the box." And yet, that would make little sense here. I can't think of anything KH ever said that seemed outside the box.
My god, he was a Bernie Bro. Theres already a liberal Joe Rogan.
Joe Rogan and Theo Von are both against the massacres in Gaza. It should be really easy for the Democrats to constantly push Epstein and Gaza on their shows... but there's no way that will happen. If the "donors" see the Democrats committing too heavily, they will make certain the party totally collapses.
The DNC won't allow a liberal Joe Rogan. Rogan invites guests on his show. No questions in advance. He can raise ANY subject. They have to sit there for 3-4 hours and if they try any bullshit, he immediately calls them out on it.
That's not how the stage-managed DNC operates.
If one says they "do not support genocide in Gaza", then one is much more likely to be "far left" than "far right".
You can't get something for nothing. If the left wants it's own Joe Rogan it has to be a person who is willing to subject their own Lefty beliefs to interrogation, alteration, and even possibly elimination. But that isn't what the Lefty media-politico-influencer Chimera is trying to do. It is starting with its set of Lefty bullet points and trying to find a way to get men, young men especially, to accept them wholly. It is a very controlling and manipulative mindset and part of what pushes away people. I think Jordan Peterson correctly described what makes Joe Rogan attractive to watch or listen to and that is that he is honest and doesn't come off as if his goal is to get the listener to believe exactly what he believes. He obviously has his opinions and he will explain them and why he believes them, but he has genuine back and forth. The Left needs to reverse it's order of operations and instead of starting with the end goal of how do we get people to believe what we want them to it should start with procedural fairness values of how do we fairly and honestly talk with different people.
Sounds like the mass produced party line talking points we get from some commenters here. I picture it as all coming from a central talking points factory that distributes its product via pipelines that spread out across the country.
" ... they put restrictor plates on me, too."
Restricter plates? The fuck is that? Is he a race car? This guy speaks in a highly-coded language that only Democrat insiders understand.
What he means is that the campaign had a list of demands: he had to give the questions up front for approval, and there's a list of topics he can't bring up, and if you wanted the interview, you had to agree to the demands in advance.
The Democrat Party sells access. If you're getting a sit-down interview with Kamala, that's valuable. That ups your Q score; increases your engagement. There's money in that. So the people who got interviews were the sell-outs ... who took the bribes and stayed away from questions that might hurt the candidate. She went on the Fuck Me, Daddy podcast because the host took a $100,000 bribe. That's how it works, bro.
There can't be a liberal Joe Rogan. Such a thing doesn't exist in the DNC.
Everything about these folks is astroturf. Clueless. Not of this Earth.
“I can't think of anything KH ever said that seemed outside the box.”
Fruit Loops must be boxed to maintain their staleness.
Anybody remember Mario Cuomo's radio show that was supposed be "the answer to Rush Limbaugh"? Lol.
Great advice. They didn't take it then, the most definitely won't now.
I for one cannot wait to listen to a podcast exploring the hidden dimensions of Hunter Biden.
"She was knocking interviews out of the box" doesn't have to be a baseball reference, but, as George Orwell advised us, we need to be aware of dying metaphors. "Box" has to refer to something.
I pursued this line of inquiry at Grok: "I seem to recall a reference in a novel (or somewhere else) to a performance in which a woman would eject ping pong balls from her "box."
Grok duly responded: "Your recollection of a reference to a performance involving a woman ejecting ping pong balls from her 'box' (likely referring to her vagina) is almost certainly pointing to a ping pong show, a type of erotic stage performance associated with sex tourism, particularly in Southeast Asia, such as Bangkok, Thailand. These shows, as described in various sources, involve women using their pelvic muscles to eject objects, most iconically ping pong balls, from their vaginal cavity, often in strip club settings for foreign tourists. However, your specific reference to this act being mentioned in a novel or other literary work is intriguing... Travel writer Paul Theroux described a ping pong show in his 1973 account of a bar in Vientiane, Laos, during the Vietnam War era. He wrote about a bar called The White Rose, where a performer inserted a cigarette into her vagina and lit it, and also ejected ping pong balls. The quote is vivid: 'Your eyes get accustomed to the dark and you see the waitress is naked. Without warning she jumps on the chair, pokes a cigarette into her vagina and lights it, puffing it by contracting her uterine lungs.'"

"As 2026 approaches, they’re disliked, divided and devoid of effective leaders..
The national Fighting Oligarchy Tour of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.) and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D., N.Y.) brought out progressive true believers this spring, but made the Democratic Party appear even more distant from the mainstream."
Remember the good ol days when the left were clamoring for their own rush limbaugh? How has that gone?
Ever since I was a little kid in the middle 1960's, the Democrats have always claimed that educating the public is the key to popularizing their agenda. It's magical thinking doomed to failure.
Joe Rogan is a liberal podcaster. Unfortunately , Bernie Bro's aren't welcome in the Democratic Party. What they are looking for is a DNC team player who tries to look and sound authentic. More astroturfing.
Maybe look at History and study how Bill Clinton worked with Republicans in Congress to achieve common goals and balance the budget. In this way, Bubba had 70% approval ratings at the height of the Ken Starr impeachment debacle.
With all that momentum, Mr. Educate the public Al Gore couldn't defeat the moronic neocon puppet G W Bush.
The 4th thing the Democrats need to do to bring Joe Rogan back into the fold is stop trashing Joe Rogan every time he strays off the reservation.
But that they cannot do. Which is why they will never succeed in finding another Joe Rogan.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_America_(radio_network)
The chemistry matters. Give us a testosterone level test for Rogan vs the "our Rogan"s and see what the numbers say. Same for the guests. I suspect you will see the truth unveiled as clearly as with Charles Murray's comprehensively damned Bell Curve.
In data there is truth.
@Howard, you can't work with the people across the aisle when the people across the aisle are Hitlerally Litler! Like a broken turntable...
“With all that momentum, Mr. Educate the public Al Gore couldn't defeat the moronic neocon puppet G W Bush.”
Thanks to Ralph Nader.

Repeated just because it bears repeating.
The customers have left the building. It's time to fold shop, lock the door and find a new place of business with a different set of products the American people want. Start with a little truth and honesty. Build from there....
RSM: Right. The DNC has painted themselves into a corner and believe in the sunk cost fantasy.
Whether or not Trump is right, he has a work plan to accomplish concrete goals. He is relentlessly executing the plan until he hits either a Hadrian's Wall (DOGE v Bureaucracy) or Gordian Knot (Epstein-Mossad), then he pivots, does a euro step for a reverse layup.
Now the waitresses in Laos use vapes
“then he pivots, does a euro step for a reverse layup.”
Just when his opponents KNOW they have him, ahem, boxed out.
"She was knocking interviews out of the box" '
I think he was reaching for "out of the park," but mixing it up with out of the box. Pretty funny.
Thanks Meade! Nader had a plan, much of which parallels MAGA. He didn't campaign on education, he campaigned on what his core supporters already believed in.
One of the major malfunctions of the Democrats is believing that Trump is selling his ideas to the public. It's the exact opposite. Trump echoes what his manifold constituencies want and amplifies their voices. They educated him, not the other way around.
Knocking it out of the box - y'know like my cat does in the litter box sometimes.
Of course, maybe she was knocking it off the shelf. My cat does that too.
"so that it isn't gummed up with illiberal junk" LOL. Modern progressivism is mostly "illiberal junk." Plus tax and spend, plus open borders. Problem for Roganesque conversations: if they're honest, they turn most people off. Fortunately, as the Biden-is-real quote indicates, they are utterly clueless. For the moment, Trump and GOP are lucky in having this opposition.

And when that didn't work, they tried to make Limbaugh's show illegal by resurrecting the odious "Fairness Doctrine." Censorship is nearly always part of the plan for counteracting successful examples of free speech.
Didn't they try this with Air America and Al Franken?
Step 2 follows directly from step 3, and all the evidence shows that step 3 is off the table.
I felt revulsion the moment I saw the title of the podcast, "At Our Table."
It's so manipulative, so contrived, so NPR, so boomer-bait, so faux-authentic like plastic weathered wood. The guy is closer to Big Mouth Billy Bass than Joe Rogan.
Democrats don't need a new Joe Rogan. They need a therapist. "Prove me wrong."
Search for liberal Joe Rogan = cargo cult.
Newsom is trying to be a lefty Rogan. Not going too well. You can’t both run for president as a Dem and also be honest about what you really think in a podcast.
Bob Boyd said, "It's so manipulative, so contrived, so NPR, so boomer-bait, so faux-authentic like plastic weathered wood."
"At our Table" is so "In this house, we believe..." lol.
They'd do better if they called it "Sitting Down To Pee at Lake Wobegone".
Somebody from the political world is not going to be the next Joe Rogan. His show is not a political endeavor.
The Democrats refuse to address the issue at hand. They have been in a 30 year war against masculinity. When you spend a good amount of energy teaching men (especially white men) that they are the face of evil on the earth they will react.
Until they correct that they will not be attracttive to Rogan’s primary audience.
Absurd as always. Joe Rogan is not a big opinion influencer. His influence is that he has great truth telling guests and lets the guests do the influencer job for hours on end. And the Dems have no truth tellers at all.
Total disaster is all they will get.
Former Party Chair: “Boy, I have no idea what happened. But it wasn’t my fault, I can tell you that. Now what did YOU want to talk about?”

Maybe this is what he was thinking about.
The Right does not get it's direction from Rogan. They listen to people who talk there, but that's it. Rogan has people from both sides, but the left just show up less to face the questions. Seeing someone from the left on Rogan does not make most people agree with the left. Just the opposite. When they fail to show up at all, most people know what that means.
The Progressive Left still believes that all voters need to be told what it is they want to hear, because they keep getting this feedback from the 19% of voters they poll.
The left's idea of civic education is to applaud Antifa thugs and call everyone a Nazi or a racist.
Leftists demand adherence to the leftist religious cult.
What Bagoh said too - we just watch Joe Rogan because he allows free speech and will interview anyone and ask intelligent questions.
The left are the opposite. the left are collectedly strict, uptight and soviet about what they allow.... and only narratives will be accepted inside the tightly wound cult of leftist religiosity
Re: Ping Pong balls. Grok apparently hasn't seen "Priscilla Queen of the Desert".
Paul Ryan ?
I just checked out the first episode of Harrison's podcast, with Tim Walz as guest. At the start, Harrison told Walz that he can drop f-bombs if he wants. (Because everybody swears not.)
After 45 minutes, Walz is still talking about what "We as Democrats are going to have to ..." Very boring. That far into an episode, Rogan has people talking about lizard people, cold plunge tanks or some other weird thing.
The podcast episode has been up for 6 hours, and has had about a 100 views. It's new, but also got an article written about it.
“Civic education in America is at an all-time low,” Harrison told Semafor this week, ….
Remind me which party controlled education for the last several decades.
various issues where the liberal position is genuinely appealing.
And those would be what, precisely? Since Inauguration Day the liberal position has been on the 10% side of every 90-10 issue, the 20% side of every 80-20 issue, and the 30% side of every 70-30 issue.
"Somebody from the political world is not going to be the next Joe Rogan. His show is not a political endeavor."
Unfortunately for the Left, everything HAS to be political.
The left's idea of Civic education is Hakim Jeffries with a baseball bat.
Joe Rogan doesn’t talk politics all the time or even that much of the time because his audience is interested in far more that politics.
“A liberal Joe Rogan” will talk politics all the time to people who only want to hear politics all the time. Even if interesting, it will not expand reach into a population the Dems beyond what they have now.
Is Rogan liberal or classical liberal with a libertarian hue?

Adjust your own vision of what it means to be liberal, so that it isn't gummed up with illiberal junk that has turned the public away from you
It's insight such as this that keeps me coming back to Althouse. The debates within liberal circles are primarily about their failures of style, thus allowing them to avoid the difficult conversations about their failures of substance
"the loyalty that we saw Republicans have for Donald Trump, when Trump got convicted 34 times,"
Are these the kind of scintillating insights we will be treated to?
Democrats try to script everything so this "At Our Table" is going to sink like a lead weight. It will only be watched by female and male Karens.
Yeah, he's their guy. Jaime Harrison attempting to explain the rules on voting for Dem party leaders
https://youtu.be/1G1H-Sv8tXU?&t=2m48s
I just hope he doesn't tarnish Jamie's good name.
"It's so manipulative, so contrived, so NPR, so boomer-bait, so faux-authentic like plastic weathered wood."
It's fucking gay is what it is. This is a gay show, produced by a gay man, hiring only gay people, interviewing only other gays, intended for DCs vast number of homosexuals to have a place to pet each other.
The Democrats could be different if they were different. Harris's best move was a third-strike bunt attempt that went foul.
"Prior to that, she was knocking interviews out of the box.... "
Like the interview with Bret Baier? Harris interviews were weak, and that's putting it kindly. If this Jamie guy can't be honest about that, it's not a promising start.
Gag me with a spoon.
The Demmies might do better with a show called "Under Our Table". It would be an alcohol-powered policy smack-down involving the party's brightest lights from Hollywood, Minnesota, and Brooklyn. A drunken Gavin Newsome invites AOC to get her tits out, while Tim Walz does jazz hands in the background. A profoundly drunken Zohran Mamdani explains the ins and outs of the fusion of sharia law and historical materialism.
Call it “At Our Autopsy Table”, keep it real and dig deep to help determine why rigor mortis set in.

But if you add all those sides together - 10% + 20% + 30% = 60%. That’s why we need the government to step in to preserve our fragile 60% majority. After all, Democracy Dies in Darkness.
There is some reason to suspect that the Democratic Party has been infiltrated by a far right cabal that cleverly puts forward the worst possible people and policies in terms that Democrats are ideologically incapable of rejecting. Jaime Harrison, AOC, and Zohran Mamdami are only the tip of the iceberg. Each has intersectional cred that makes their absurd messages irresistible to a party that prioritizes anachronistic identity categories.

I think he's more of a libertarian with classic liberal leanings.
I don't listen when he has the UFO people or that guy who pretends to be an archeologist. He's got an open mind for ideas and is smarter than average.
I also think that the Covid mess opened his eyes about how the left acts. Its inherent dishonesty.
The Democrats claiming they need a "liberal Joe Rogan" aren't liberals. They are progressive and neo-Marxist authoritarians seeking to use government to enforce dangerous lies and censor dissent.
That's why "liberal Joe Rogan" stopped supporting them.
Thank you Disparity of Cult at 928. The link to Jaime Harrison explaining the Dem leadership election rules is priceless. Nobody can recover their reputation after a performance like that.

Civic lessons from the left = baseball bat and Molotov cocktail.
btw - If Intifada mamdani won the primary - why is Cuomo still in the mix? what is the point of that?
@Ficta
To be fair to Grok, I did ask for a novel...
Going back and mentioning "Priscilla Queen of the Desert" I did get it to describe the scene there, which is probably where I learned the idea.
Ampersand - wow.
Again- the democrats elected David Hogg - then ousted him just by changing their rules. I'm pretty sure that is not what actual democracy looks like. More like, mob-rule goal post moving insanity.
RSM: I prove you wrong easy. The Democrats addiction to therapy, counselling, educating plus crystal healing, homeopathy and veganism proves that the Democrats are over-treated. They need to let go of these crutches and live in the real world on their own two feet. This gag me with a backhoe pudcast "At *Our* Table" is just more therapy.

I just got some therapy done by mowing the lawn this muggy morning. One particularly effective mental health treatment was sharpening the blade to a near razor with my belt sander. Cuts like butter. You can't wear out the dopaminergic system when completing productive or health promoting tasks.
Good luck pulling a Joe Rogan out from among New Democrat girlie men. As for QuidProJoe being real, I had a fairly lengthy conversation with him in 1976 when he chaired the Senate Judiciary Committee. He was an asshole. I recognized the same asshole during the rare cogent moments of his presidency.
One of the things that makes Rogan a good host is that he seems to be someone who could be persuaded to change his mind on a topic if the guest had a compelling argument. I cannot picture a "liberal" host doing that.
Joe Biden gave everyone a Soviet Civics lesson.
and we will all never forget.
When democrats slime their own nation...
Howard - if only veganism was the problem here.

Attractive young Asian bank teller combined "Have a good one" with "you have a nice day" and as transaction was concluded cheerfully told me "You have a nice one"
Without thinking, I replied "Was I drunk when I showed it to you?"
Some people laughed, but I was embarrassed.
That comment was not appropriate at the time and place.
With public broadcasting defunded, Bill Moyers dead, and Charlie Rose not leaving his duplex, this is all going to be so much harder.
The reasons why the left doesn't have a Joe Rogan may be similar to the reasons why they haven't been able to succeed in AM radio. If they ever do manage to succeed in AM or in podcasting, it will probably be a lot like Rwandan radio in the Nineties: Rachel Maddow or Laura Flanders telling listeners to take an axe to their cockroach neighbors.
I love the Democrat lament for a "Liberal Joe Rogan". I would put Rogan very close to being a classical liberal. And a Democrat could do well on his show, if they could talk long form. Rogan generally lets his guest run on and if they dig hole, so be it. Yes, he does keep the conversation going with sometimes questionable seen on the internet bits of info.
Trump is king of long form talk. Rogan let Trump do 10 minutes on the Lincoln bedroom from the question of what it was like to walk into the White House the first time as president. That showed Trump in a "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington" light to me.
Or when Trump flipped the Theo Von discussion to be about Theo's drug problems and recovery.
Trump instinctually knows "good television" but tempered for the forum so will always be a desired podcast guest.
Clinton brought the campaign to late night television but I'm not sure even Bill would have held up in an hour+ podcast talk.
Steve Burns didn’t even make a month? Wow. Do they realize how long it takes to make a brand?
You need to get out more, April.
"The part that many of us loved about Joe Biden is that he’s real."
The liberal Rogan said that. The only thing real about Joe Biden is that he's a real POS.
It's not a messaging problem. It's a you fucking suck problem.
Bernie when on his show - and Rogan made him look like an idiot. Or should I say - Bernie looked like a sad politician pushing snake oil.
stale snake oil.

Republicans didn't say "We need a conservative Cronkite or Rather or Brokaw," they used other media to get their message out.
Well, I suppose for a long time they did want a conservative Cronkite, Rather, or Brokaw and complained about not having one, but it was when they learned how to use different, new or unexpected media that they succeeded.
Well, okay, but Reagan and Trump had actually succeeded in the old network media environment, so maybe that's what Democrats are waiting for: when the country shifts back to the Democrats, some "Joe Rogan" podcasters will shift back with it and drag their listeners along.
I guess so, "Benny Drama" and other liberal TikTokkers couldn't convince anyone to vote Democrat who wasn't already leaning that way.

Yes, renewed focus on Hunter Biden; that's the ticket!
I listened to Jordan Peterson’s interview of David French. The premise was French’s NYT article on how Democrats need to figure out how to attract men ($20 million mistake Democrats made with Young Men). Peterson was basically inquiring how French wrote an article for the NYT that had positive things to say about Peterson’s outreach to isolated young men.
The conversation was remarkably different than the Scott Adams interview that came out later, but I listened to out of order. Adams and Peterson had a better conversation about growing up as a young man and trying to make your way in the world. French was mostly dropping phrases like “latchkey kid” and “helicopter parents” that overly generalized the situation. Ultimately, French thinks Democrats just need to tell young men they love them, and avoid the notion the toxic masculinity that men should just go achieve what they want. For Adams, he talked about achieving what he wanted as a young child through positive affirmation, yet not succeeding at first because he didn’t expect to achieve his desire to be a famous comic strip writer.
French’s message was pandering to men, not affirming them (though I expect he wouldn’t agree nor understand the difference). French wanted to reach out to men for the sake of the Democrat Party’s success, not the success of the men. Joe Rogan doesn’t do that. Joe wants to be specific about the individual’s story, and how it is working out for them. Democrats want men, and likely no more than just enough of them, to have a majority win and regain power.
Jennifer Lopez was fine with P. Diddy.

"The search for a liberal Joe Rogan" very much epitomizes the Progressive worldview of centralized power and top down planning.
Sorry guys & gals, I coughed up a fur ball at “Joe Biden is real”, not an auspicious beginning to my first post on this blog.
Have known FJB (just so we all know where this kitty stands, politically speaking) for a long long time and have known he was as fake as that stuffed dog they tried to scare me with for about the same amount of time!!
I’ve listened to Joe Rogan, I like Joe Rogan, Jaime Harrison, you are no Joe Rogan!!
I wonder if it's possible to run out of potential solutions to a problem without ever realizing what the problem really is. Then what?
A "liberal Joe Rogan" means a Joe Rogan they control. One who will push the narratives and put the Party first, like the liberal newspapers and the liberal TV news programs.
The Sewing Circle with Jame Gumb would attract a bigger podcast audience than At Our Table with Jaime Harrison.
This reeks of the same wishful thinking (Democrat policies are wonderful, but the messaging is not good enough)…
It really does. They’ve learned nothing. It certainly appears to their strategists ‘Their own Joe Rogan’ means their own personality that will garner a Joe Rogan sized audience for our propaganda…preferably one with preferable swing demographics.
…and not to bash Ann’s three-step, which may be the only road to their own Joe Rogan, it’s just that no way does anyone associated with the party want anything to do with number three…:
"Hitting it out of the box" makes me think of a huge swing resulting in glancing contact and a slow dribbler that makes it halfway up the third base line. Maybe that's exactly the image Harrison was going for.
@Bob Boyd: "...Every NPR story: “And here’s Latinx Equity Reporter Esperanza Van Zandt.”..."
It's really comical, the NPR style guide for Latino things. Every announcer must pronounce the word 'Latino' or 'Latina' with a precise emphasis, and a slightly nasal aspect, to say the word correctly, as if an archetypal Latino/a is speaking. As genuine as chile powder ! And then, when it's a Latino/a reporter speaking, at the conclusion of their story they must pronouce their name in authentic accents, spitting it out almost, rolling the 'R's' and everything. The only thing missing is a little flamenco stomp. I don't mind people pronouncing their name properly, the way they want it pronounced, by NPR makes it part of The Struggle, man.
In the NPR news cycle today (they normally do it on the half-hour) the #1 or #2 story on every broadcast I heard today was the drastic budget cuts about to be made official by Congress, which will eliminate Federal Funding to NPR.

Adjust your own vision of what it means to be liberal, so that it isn't gummed up with illiberal junk that has turned the public away from you
They can't.
Doing so would mean "giving in", and that is the one thing they are not willing to do.
Puerto Rico just elected a Republican governor.
“ Now the waitresses in Laos use vapes”
I dread the rise in Pootie cancer.
They might as well have Ana Gasteyer and Molly Shannon interviewing Pete Schweddy.
"Every announcer must pronounce the word 'Latino' or 'Latina' with a precise emphasis..."
Now, do "Nicaragua".
One of the reasons there will never be a "liberal Joe Rogan" is that what we call "liberalism" now are all the people who put up an impressive facade. For instance, people who have very impressive university degrees from the Ivy League, they are liberal. So the higher ups in a lot of corporations, who are from the Ivy League, are also liberal. The upper class of our society -- the lawyers, the doctors, the celebrity artists, the celebrity journalists, rich and famous people across our society, liberal, liberal, liberal and liberal. (With, of course, a minority of people in all those areas who are right-wing or libertarian or conservative).
So the "mainstream media," which is incredibly polished, is very, very liberal. They want to educate you, to their way of thinking. Fox is to the right of the mainstream media. But their presentation is identical. Very focused, very quick, lots of graphics and visuals. The idea is, "we are the authority on what is happening and we will educate you."
Joe Rogan's show is nothing like what we see on the media.
He's a classical liberal, who believes in free speech and an open exchange of ideas. What we now call, libertarian. And Rogan wants to hear what people have to say. He wants to hear ideas that he hasn't heard before.
Liberals have lost that. Especially in the media. They are very smug in their certainty that they are right. And they don't want to hear ideas that challenge them. And they certainly don't want to air ideas that challenge them.
Kamala Harris wouldn't even go on Rogan's show!
Democrats debate in a format where you prep for it, and you practice answers, and you do everything possible to avoid making a mistake or looking dumb. Modern liberalism is very controlling, and its media presentations are very controlled.
So, if you want to find a "liberal Joe Rogan," you'd have to find a very smart, open-minded liberal who is willing to talk to people across the political spectrum, who was willing to listen and hear what people have to say, and who was very spontaneous and good on his feet.
You'd have to go in without an agenda to indoctrinate.
They don't actually want "another Joe Rogan." What they want is, a phony copycat who shuts up people who are off-narrative, who protects the liberal narratives no matter what, and runs up Joe Rogan numbers.
