Photo #2 is a keeper. I would buy a copy, frame it, and hang it in my home office, if you ever decide to sell them.

Photo #2 had the best potential, but you missed it. The odd-shaped log in the water should have caught your eye and been the focus of this photograph, positioned right-side third, from a low angle.

Of course, you'd have had to get your feet wet to get the winning photo.

Are you willing to get your feet wet, Ann? To get the best shot?

Trump personally provides the magnetic charismatic hold over the "faithful" that comprise a majority. Trump and Reagan are the only Republican leaders that spin this spell over the "faithful." It is hard to replicate. Post-Trump populist conservatism (now de-dazzled) will destroy the Republican party's ability to challenge for governing national majorities. The missing piece will be a credible program for constructively engaging with a large changing world economy.

Reagan saw America as freedom's champion in the world arena; Trump sees an isolationist strongman in a national fortress. One wrapped himself in the best of the American tradition, the other preyed upon its always present atavistic fears.

American voters favor broad-based economic growth, not pockets of noncompetitive rent gathering resulting from clientelist politics (although this type of political economic behavior is always perniciously present). Broad-based growth is always trade-led growth.

Trump is engineering a 1974-style economic crisis of collapsing growth and rising inflation. Trump's attempts at jawboning interest rates and financially repressing savers will have less success than Nixon's wage and price controls and other ham-handed interventionist tricks. Nixon was undone by inflationary deficits caused by war spending. The tricks were conjured up by policy mavens in the warren of executive branch offices where these failures hatch and incubate. Check the box on the decision memo and the solution is on the way! Nixon too thought he had "the power." Executive power first entices, then it deceives, and it ultimately subverts via the unintended consequence. The voters move on to "change."

The demand for trade-led economic expansion will lead back to centrist pragmatism taking center stage because of its ability to contend with globalized challenges with which national governance must manage.

America does not need a national champion; it needs an international champion.

I am starting to have implanted memories of watching the sun rise over a Wiscosin lake. I can describe it so vividly.

I think I may have seen a lakeside sunrise once in my life, and that was in Louisiana. Two little alligator eyes floated just above the water as I drank my coffee leaning on the deck's rail.

The fundamental Democratic Party platform is to increase economic "friction". To hamper growth by raising risks and costs. One could call it deliberate economic sabotage, were it not for the real but narrow benefits it brings to an economic elite. This was explained many years ago by Schumpeter.

To understand the modern world and rich-country politics it is only necessary to read Schumpeter, Gramsci, abd Ortega y Gassett.

There is nothing new under the sun. It was figured out back in the 1930s, for the post-industrial revolution, and nothing fundamental has changed since, other than fashions in rhetoric.

It's time to remove Trump from the White House via the 25th Amendment. He has dementia.

(For those not paying attention, Trump appointed Jerome Powell).

Donald Trump asked lawmakers whether he should fire Fed’s Jay Powell ~ FT

'US president later said such a move would be ‘highly unlikely’, prompting swings in currency markets'

Wow, the Epstein files must really have something on Trump! He's willing to crash the economy because of it.... anything to get it out of the news cycle.

Classic dead cat strategy, as already mentioned, to move the focus away from Epstein. Don’t waste time on the Powell story. We’ve been here before and I’m sure we’ll be here again.

"Anyone with even an ounce of logical thinking knows that Democrats had all this info for 4 years. They didn’t release it. The rest is just silliness"

You are 100% wrong, based on reality and history and logic. When the Obama ran the Executive his government trashed HRC days before the election, and at that time HRC's lead in the polls evaporated and DJT won. (This trashing of HRC before election day by Comey, is the official reason DJT gave for firing Corey.) Likewise with Biden as POTUS, Garland was so honest that he made sure that the government would never go after DJT based on politics. Ds are constantly crying because Garland was so removed from politics with a bunch of recusals. The Biden hid the Epstein Files to protect DJT since it's not illegal to be pictured with young, topless gals as you have a cum stain on your pants by your crotch, and other such stuff DJT and Epstein did together over their very long friendship.

And now DJT is hiding the Epstein Files to protect DJT.

BTW, why would the Obama write the Epstein Files and then never release them? If you're so good a logic, how do you explain this new shit sandwich DJT is trying to shove down your throat? Do you believe that Obama et. al. wrote the Epstein Files, and then they never released the Epstein Files after they wrote them?

Sheesh.

Good news for those burned out in the Pacific Palisades fire. They won't have to wait ten years for permits to rebuild, they can just sell out to the city.

"California lawmakers are set to meet on Wednesday at the State House to discuss a new law moving through the legislature that will allow Los Angeles to buy lots leveled by deadly and devastating wildfires to build low-income housing.

Senate Bill 549 would allow property taxes to fund what lawmakers are calling “Resilient Rebuilding Authorities" that could buy ruined land and obtain loans to rebuild."

Donald Trump Caught Bringing Mexican Coke Into USA

Heh. That's the best take on this.

But American farmers had better take a good long hard look at this subject.

There is some cane sugar produced in the United States, but it all goes to refined white sugar in bags. The kind you put in your coffee.

What goes in coke is corn. Have you flown across the United States recently? All those crop circles you see are corn being grown, the breadth and depth of this nation.

Donald Trump likes his Mexican coke. His Cuba coke. His communist Coke.

He don't like American coke.

Lately, they've been huddled around the Epstein files like it's a dwindling dumpster fire keeping their faint hopes alive.

And: "Your night cafes may just be their last can of psychic Sterno. Stay warm, plucky little leftists. Stay warm."

Fascism has never wanted historical fact and cultural excellence to be celebrated.

That's a racket. Put in competent people in critical leadership positions. Drain a purpose built reservoir for fire fighting. Release mentally ill people known to start fires. Go out of town during well published meteorological conditions for fires. Do nothing as a major portion of your city burns. Tell them you will help them then do nothing for 6 months. After 6 months, tell them they can sell the remnants of their property for pennies on the dollar to you, so that you can do what you want it.

Sucrose is produced from sugar cane in the USA.. But the biggest source of domestic sucrose is sugar beets. Both are indirectly subsidized by import tariffs on sucrose, which is why high fructose corn syrup become the predominant sweetener in soft drinks. It's cheaper. And not everyone can discern the difference. I can...

Had an uncle who sold railroad cars. One his biggest sales was a hundred or so specialized sugar beet covered gondola cars to the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railway. Could only carry sugar beets. So during harvest season they were rolling back and forth from fields to processors, and the rest of the year they sat on sidings waiting for harvest season to begin... That's my earliest memory of sugar beets... listening to the tale of that sale.

FLC doesn't know that DJT drinks Diet Coke.
I can easily tell the difference in soda between those that contain cane sugar and those that are made with HFCS. I only occasionally drink a Boylan's or a Mexican soda, sticking to Diet Dr Pepper. Maybe this switch will increase Coke sales and other soda companies will have to follow the switch. And since a single bottle of soda at the 7-11 is easily around $3, the soda profits will not be damaged by the higher cost.

You don't know this, I guess, but Coca-Cola in the USA used to have sugar. Decades ago, they switched the formula to corn syrup, which is worse for you. In essence, he's asking Coca-Cola to "Make Coke Great Again."

If you go way, way, way back, Coca-Cola used to have cocaine in the formula. You got to set your DeLorean time machine to the right year, or you will get arrested.

My joke at 9:46 is mocking the media. They always spin everything he does or says in the worst possible way. And then they have to correct.

The best movie about Commie Coca-Cola, by the way, is Billy Wilder's One, Two, Three, which is hilarious.
