"'You may have heard of him as Puff Daddy, as P Diddy. Standing in this courtroom at 55 years old, in the same place he was born and raised, he’s going by the same name he was born with...'"

"'...Sean Combs.' He was a self-made man, [his lawyer] said. 'He is charismatic and magnetic, a larger-than-life figure.' He was a man people wanted to know. But he was also flawed, she said. 'I’m telling you that he is physical, that he is a drug user, and I’m telling you that he has a bit of a different sex life. You may know about his love of baby oil. Is that a federal crime? No.... We take full responsibility that there was domestic violence in this case. [But] domestic violence is not sex trafficking. Had he been charged with domestic violence, had he been charged with assault, we would not be here.' The case, she said, was 'about Sean Combs’ private, personal sex life.... [The alleged victim] 'did it for the affection, for the love, for the cuddle, and because she knew that it would make him happy,' [the lawyer] said...."

He was born in a NYC courtroom? Now that's weird!

I wouldn't have included the cuddle remark.

I don't care about any of these people but I think it's too bad for Combs that this case isn't being tried in Los Angeles County.

Yeah, maybe that’ll work. I know I’m sold.

Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, he won't use spit, so you must acquit.

So puff daddy is sorta weird, but its a harmless sorta sexual weird. And not illegal. Okay. Guess the jury will decide. And since Puff isn't a Republican, he may get a fair trial in NYC.

Peachy said...

He already admitted to domestic abuse.
Will that matter to the jury?

RCOCEAN II said...

Is/was Puff Daddy married to any of these women? Or is this groupie abuse?

Anyway, its funny that this guy is insanely famous and 50 something, and I don't know who the fuck he is. And never heard one of his "songs".

Spot on Wolfie.
Let's hear it for those layers upon layers of editors and fact checkers.

"...never heard one of his "songs."
LOL. I've said this same thing about numerous singers. Then our youngest will play a song. I respond "I always liked that tune" or "Yeah, never liked that one". Of course he then informs me it was by the artist I never have heard.

He huffed and he Puffed. Diddy or did he not?

Who's betting on the outcome? It'll be a fine balance of #BelieveAllWomen and OJ nullification themes. It wouldn't surprise me if he gets off with fines.

Doesn’t sound like a winning argument to me.

I'm not religious at all, but it seems like these people could use some.
I love me some sex, but damn! That's too much of anything.

They could go with a defense based on Pilkington's Rockbusters clue:
"He doesn't like women, yet he's got a couple of kids. That's a bit weird innit? (PD)"

That caught my attention, too. But Jumpin’ Jack Flash was born in a cross-fire hurricane.

This may be an unpopular opinion but this case is another example of how corrupt our justice system is. Diddy was not permitted to bail out. He has spent eight months in jail already. Diddy is not a danger to average NYers walking the streets. NYC routinely lets hardcore violent criminals with long rap sheets back out on the street to await trial, often without any bail. The refusal to grant bail in this case was punishment for being famous and wealthy.

And Harvey Weinstein, and Bill Cosby were helping young actresses get better roles.

Tina Trent said...

Now his defense is that corrupt DAs didn't prosecute him for beating the shit out of a woman, on camera.

Let's just send these guys to some Islamic shithole, where they belong.

He was probably thinking “What’s a little pecuniary S&M between friends?”

Tina Trent said...

Cacimbo, you don't understand even New York's pathetic bail law. He didn't have to be a threat to every New Yorker. He wasn't held because he's rich and famous. If you know nothing, say nothing.

So she (the lawyer) effectively agrees with Trump - if you're famous they let you grab them by the pussy? Because they know it will make you happy?

What's the good of being Diddy
If you don't get to pet the kitty?

Cacimbo said...

@TinaTrent. I understand you do not "have" to be a threat to every NYer to be denied bail. However, it is the norm in NYC to be released pending trial, even for violent felonies. I was not disputing whether the Judge had the right to hold him, I was stating it is outside the norm for NYC. We can disagree on the reason the Judge opted to hold him, but I would hope you don't dispute it is very unusual for NYC. BTW - it is possible to disagree with someone without being nasty.

As befits a guy named after the nickname for ball lightning.

Whom does Puff Diddly think he is, Gerald Depardieu?

Prosecution mentioned Diddy paying male escort to urinate in Diddy's girlfriends mouth.
Was she in it for love, or money?

john mosby said...

Trent and Cacimbo, ref bail: Diddy is on trial in federal court, not the NY state system. None of the NY bail laws or norms apply. Bail in federal court is a highly individualistic analysis. In Diddy's favor, he's famous so can't really run and hide. But he's rich and could use his money to threaten witnesses. But he's rich enough that he could overcome the impediments of the jail to still get people threatened on the outside - he may even have a pre-arranged operations plan to be used in case of arrest. Etc. So it could have gone either way.

@John mosby. Thanks. I did not realize this was federal case. I don't know what the bail norms are in federal cases.

So strange that it took "Believe all Women" and the pussyhat brigade of 2017 (anti-Trump) to make the entertainment left care about any of this.

Roman Polanski received standing ovations. Michael Jackson...errr...had parents send their kids over for sleepovers. Per IMDB, Harvey Weinstein had 24 Oscar(r) wins and 30 nominations.

People are surprised that sex and drugs and rock and roll psychopathic hedonists are psychopathic hedonists?

"Ladies and gentlemen, I'll be brief. The issue here is not whether he broke a few rules, or took a few liberties with his party guests - he did. But you can't hold him responsible for his behavior in a few, sick twisted incidents. For if you do, then shouldn't we blame the whole music industry? And if the whole music industry is guilty, then isn't this an indictment of our entertainment industry in general? I put it to you, isn't this an indictment of our entire American society? Well, you can do whatever you want to him, but I for one am not going to stand here and listen to you badmouth the United States of America."
