"... the content creator and comedian Suzanne Lambert called it 'Republican makeup,' which she explained to me is 'matte and flat': thick eyebrows and lashes, dark eyeliner on the top and bottom lids, a bold lip, lots of bronzer. 'Inappropriate unless you’re on a pageant stage. And in that case, I would still do it differently,' she said. Their clothes, whether casual or corporate, are form-fitting and often accessorized with giant crosses. They are always thin and almost always white. To each her own. But it is also undeniable that this hyperfeminine and overtly Christian look offers a stark contrast to the often blunt and even brutal language they employ. Another glaring example of this is the horrifying video of Kristi Noem, the homeland security secretary, at CECOT, the tropical gulag in El Salvador where the Trump administration has sent migrants. She stood there before a group of shirtless prisoners and declared, 'If you come to our country illegally, this is one of the consequences you could face,' while wearing a $50,000 Rolex.'"

Gutfeld show says women wear makeup and perfume because they're ugly and smell bad.
I guess horrifying and awesome could be synonyms.
I think it's a great strategy for the Democrats to go after Republican women for how they look and dress while ridiculing their religion and motherhood.
I guess the DNCers think being completely tone deaf has worked so well so far in the Trump era that they need to triple down on it.
Huh?
Wokism is dead. The Libturds have embraced Slut Shaming.

The Sisterhood! Meeowww...
Isn't this "hyperfeminine" look simply pushback against the leftist aesthetic of women going out of their way to look butch or sexless -- as well as the idea that it's inappropriate for women to ever look sexy in the workplace?
Aren't these the same people how fawn over that Met Gala nonsense?
Oh, dear. Giant crosses.
Most of the paragraph could have been cut and pasted from 1983. Or 1953. Next you’re going to tell us that they like Ike.

That was pretty horrifying. You could see the gang tats on all of those guys. I'm glad they are in El Salvador in prison and not here in America menacing properly turned-out non-Christian women.
This is silly. Utah curls are just beach waves. They aren't anything new. But they really want the idea of how one wears their hair to be sinister.
In addition to the makeup, I notice the tendency of MAGA women to position themselves on the other side of the bars from the tattooed, lowlife thugs, instead of getting themselves inked too, and shacking up or conducting interviews. I'd call them 'human interest' stories, but that would be kind.
war on women, what of that, oh they are unpersons,
Every time I see "migrants" used in that manner I think that "invader" would have been the better word.
Saucer of milk, table 2.
C'mon, Professor, the NYT knows how to make its readers feel better about themselves! (Hint - looking down on others is important.) This is standard daily chum from the old Grey Lady.
Serious Question:
other than AOC, are there ANY other democrat women under the age of 60?
That Emhoff gal is more to NYT-type, no? A pre-occupation with body hair and a fervent desire to look as unattractive as is humanly possible.
Beach waves are easier to do yourself and stay longer unlike a Kate Middleton style blowout. This is the most common curl for women without a stylist so we can look nice without a bunch of money or time.
correction:
i just self checked, and Debbie Wasserman Test Schultz is ONLY 58
so, barely 60..
Also, there are a number of Black Democrat women in their mid 40's
ALSO! there is a Democrat Representative from Texas named Lizzie Fletcher (who i've NEVER heard of), that is "only" 50.

"Tropical gulag"?
Did the Times ever say that about Cuba?
Trump should drop off a few busloads of those charming migrants at 620 Eighth Ave, NYC. I'm willing to bet that the writers, who also wear $50,000 watches, don't make the focus of the story "hyperfeminized, overtly-Christian women."
Agree with Howard at 8:56. It seems criticizing a woman’s physical appearance when functioning in an official capacity is acceptable again. I’m sure that is especially true if one disagrees with her policy but lack sound arguments against the policy.
Emerson is supposed to have said "The louder he proclaimed his honesty, the faster I counted my sliver," or something like that. It's the same with "fascism," when you see it everywhere you look, loudly proclaiming its presence? Despite a complete lack of actual evidence? Well, maybe you are the fascist we need to worry about. Maybe? Probably.

They are always thin and almost always white.
Harris Kimberley Faulkner Is worth a couple thousand of Jessica Grose. Republican women are attractive and intelligent, and Lefty women are neither. .
Why have so many white women on tv in a country that is 14% black? I mean at least 7% of the population is black women. /s
So she's jealous. But sees a way to get noticed and make some money off of pretending not to be.
They're still dong "Gorillas in the Mist" reporting on anyone not a part of the progressive moment, and doing it with zero self-awareness.
To each her own. But it is also undeniable that this hyperfeminine and overtly Christian look offers a stark contrast to the often blunt and even brutal language they employ.
"To each her own. BUT..."
Mm hmm. Shall we now discuss Crockett's lashes (I think it was Big Mike but might have been OG Mike or some other Mike who reminded me of them yesterday)? As well as her "blunt and even brutal language"?
Having always gone for a natural look myself (out of lack of commitment to the process), I was - I don't think it'd be an overstatement for me to use the word "shocked" to discover that a considerably younger friend has been using BOTOX since she was 28. And I am at present sharing an Airbnb with cousins, the daughter-cousin 21yo and sporting lash extensions that don't even try to look real. And whatever I interact with the public, I find that I'm surrounded by women young and old whose look is clearly manufactured and sculpted and purchased. They do it because they like it, and I'm not going to speculate about whether they like it because of personal preference or pressure from other women versus a desire to make some kind of coded political statement. To each her own - period.
I’ll take the MAGA look over the purple and pink haired theys and gender confused women with penises of the progressives.

How do you know that they aren’t light skinned black/hispanic/Native American?
Anyway, under the one drop rule that means we are a 100% black country.
"...where the Trump administration has sent migrants...". Inferring innocent young men who were one day picking almonds in California and the next day in an El Salvadoran prison, instead of gang members who traffic humans by day, rape and steal by night.
And, of course, one cannot abide 'Christian' looking women.
This is the Times, which considers linebacker-like walking Michelle Obama the height of feminine fashion, and the stunning global model First Lady Melania Trump, an overdressed scowl.
IIRC there have been several studies that have found conservative women to be more attractive than liberal women.
And I’m not even counting the trans ones.
So what, Trump is supposed to only hire extremely unattractive women like Clinton and Obama? Not sure I get the point.
@Jamie (9:52), it wasn’t me.
Feminine gender misogyny with a green motive?
Noem does seem to live rather high off the hog, with her rolex and her high-fashion purse with $3000 in cash. I guess she came by it honestly.
Trailer park lottery winner, vapid and plastic looking is the achievement.
The SS were bastards but damn, At least those fascists did look sharp in their uniforms.
I'll just say about Ms Grose that she looks like the typical NYT chick, but Lambert is all over the internet heavily made up, with "Republican hair" no less. Not bad but not hot. This article is strange. Trump has a knack for finding really competent people to hire (and some crappy ones) that are generally better-than-average in the looks
Shaming her, blaming her, too, pushing women to the back of the bus, under the bus, aborting and sequestering the "burden" of evidence for social progress in sanctuary states and cities.
Keep women affordable, available, reusable, and taxable. Let us bray.
I'm guessing that our hostess knew girls like Jessica Grose in high school.
Republican women are female. And that fact alone dooms the DNC.
It's the same reason they have hated on Fox News since the beginning. "Look at all the blondes!" Now conservatives hate it because they always have to repeat the leftist news lines of the day. All day. Over and over. And their polls are crappy. And every "panel" has to include a lying leftist. Ugh. I just stream Gutfeld! when I want a little humor.
The entire article is another reiteration of "not our sort."
"The tropical gulag in El Salvador" - she got her dig at Trump in there. Do you think they get paid extra for inserting a Trump effect into their postulations?
Ironically, Jessica Grosse in trying to portray Right-Wing women as pretty, mean girls, is engaging is pattern typical of the bullying used by the same proverbial type of mean girls.
Suzanne Lambert actually encourages her followers to be "mean girl liberals."
"Giant crosses"
That's the touch that makes one wonder if Jessica Grose has met any of these women or if she's just making the whole thing up.
Don't murderous gang members go in for a lot of bling and girlfriend slathered in make-up and tight dresses too? Maybe Noem was trying to be relatable.
“Attila the Hun and his band of merry ‘migrants.’”
Modern terms like “vandals” and “vandalizing” are just racial slurs against a group of German migrants into Rome 1,500 years ago.
The Huns and the Vandals were quite different groups. The Huns were nomadic invaders from the East that were fearsome enough to make the Byzantines sue for a temporary peace with their ancient enemies, the Sassanid Empire of Persia, and pay them a lot of gold to help them fortify their borders against the Huns and other Asiatic nomadic invasions. Sort of like the alliance of old enemies in Game of Thrones.
The Vandals were Germanic invaders from the north who mostly ended up in Northwest Africa and contributed to the Caucasian appearance of the Berber peoples from that area. They did a lot of damage along the way.
'Inappropriate unless you’re on a pageant stage. And in that case, I would still do it differently,' she said.
Rowrrrr…
"Giant crosses"
That's the touch that makes one wonder if Jessica Grose has met any of these women or if she's just making the whole thing up.
To a leftist, if you can see a cross from six feet away, it's "GIANT!!!", and the only thing one need know about the individual wearing it.
You know those studies that purport to measure media bias? (I don't think I've expounded on this to anyone but my husband and Grok...yet.) So far I've been unable to find any that do more than count pro versus anti stories (Grok pointed me to one from several years ago that included "neutral," but that's it). I want one that attempts to assign a semantic value to the pro and anti statements - for instance, the word "gulag" would obviously score higher on the negative scale than "prison" or "detention center," and the word "doddering" higher than "slow" or "may have lost a step," whereas "sharp" and "in command" might be considered higher on the positive side than "capable." You'd have to start with a preliminary study asking a population sample to rate (that is, to assess connotations of) words and phrases.
I wonder what such a study would find, concerning media bias. Well... actually I don't wonder, but I'd sure like to see it quantified. "To each her own but (not our sort, dear)... 'I would still do it differently' (if I were to do something so declasse as to appear in a pageant), Utah curls (not beach waves), hyperfeminine (not, say, 'unapologetically feminine'), overtly Christian (not, say, 'openly Christian'), giant (not, say, 'prominent') crosses, stark (not, say, 'striking') contrast"...
From the article: "I am not happy to live in a country where our elected officials curse at their constituents, film the exchanges and get rewarded with the negative attention they seem to so desperately desire. "
I'm willing to bet she hasn't said a word regarding those vile democrats who do just that and even more, calling for violence. She is just another msm propagandist shill.
The Times is moving from mere bias to malevolent. “Overtly Christian look?” Seriously? Does this bimbo know any Christian women personally. Most women in my Christian circles eschew heavy makeup, form fitting clothing and large crosses. The writer is like a caricature of Pauline Kael: “I live in a rather special world. I only know one person who [worships Jesus].” The tacky women with heavy makeup, revealing clothes and push-up bras who we see in the media and elsewhere are likely Democrats. I now live in California. I know lots of Democrats.
Yeah, that was a confusing article. Several references to. "Utah" and "Mormons" and then heavy make-up and giant crosses. No doubt some influencer somewhere uses that combination but they aren't "Mormons" influencers. Mormons don't use the cross as a decoration.

Jupiter (10:23): “I guess she (Noem) came by it honestly.” Typically, Republicans entering politics have been wealthy and leave less wealthy. Typically, Democrats entering politics are not wealthy and leave wealthy (E.g., LBJ, Clinton’s, Biden’s, Obama’s.).
Hey, teabaghag, pull those balls out of your mouth and dare to sign your real name.
That's silly, and I say that from here in Utah. Giant crosses are not a thing. The NY Times is a lefty women's magazine printed on cheap paper.
Mean girl time. Who writes this sort of codswallop? Shame on she, he or xi.
The left does not want women who value stable relationships.
They prefer their women to enable poor male behavior and degenerate relationship activity.
Leftist Feminism was about turning women into harem girls. They are trying to shame women who prefer pair bonding paradigms.
They just want women to be low self esteem sluts that the Democrat men can abuse.

Mormons don't use the cross as a decoration.
Even the LDS church spires are distinctive for their lack of a cross. It's more "Gorillas in the Mist" reporting from the pseudo-intellectual East Coast elites.
This writer is a complete ignoramus despite her Ivy League degree. She doesn't have the slightest knowledge of the differences between the various strains of Christianity, and is merely regurgitating the Two Minutes' Hate that the Left ladles out for all Christians in general and the Mormons in particular.
These people are enemy scum, not our countrymen, and I am delighted that the journalistic establishment is tottering on its last legs. The sooner their propaganda organs go bankrupt, the better I'll like it.
The article didn't mention one of the other hallmarks of this influencer look: injectable fillers. Meaty faces have become a dominant style among a certain set.
"There’s no single look that immediately identifies a woman as a liberal in the same way, "
Heh heh heh.
There's some wishful thinking. The MAGA look seems like a direct reaction to this supposedly non-existent look. And all of these looks, though they are in opposition, look terrible.
It’s amusing to see the tribal urge here to deny what anyone with eyes can see: There really is such a thing as Republican makeup. Mormons have been joking about Mormon hair for at least fifty years so I don’t understand why it’s off limits for the rest of us to have a giggle.
But if you insist on being serious, this is a perfect opportunity to contrast Republican fecundity with the parched, arid asexuality of Democrats’ dreams.
I would say because of their ivy league education,
I understand that people are not very smart, but for this writer demonstrate her lack of intelligence in an article is astounding.
Meaty faces have become a dominant style among a certain set.
I find this look quite displeasing. Their lips look almost hemorrhoidal. Are there ANY men who prefer it?
Kim Kardashian is accused of being a republican, and here's the evidence: Kim wearing a large cross, with her tits hanging out.

Hassayamper said: I find this look quite displeasing. Their lips look almost hemorrhoidal. Are there ANY men who prefer it?
It's not whether the MEN do, it's whether they get approval of their appearance from other women. And you get that by following what's trendy and currently popular. Pass through any makeup department in a Walmart or Walgreens and you'll see lots of displays showing what can be done with the various products.
You or I may look at them and go "Wow - that's... umm... yeah, no." But we're not the target audience. For the young women starting out, it's about setting expectations of how they're supposed to look, and they'll essentially be competing with their peers to get the 'right look'. And you put that look up on Instagram, FB, TicTox and get approval from other makeup and clothes junkies - that matters to them more than what guys think they look like.
That was false advertising, tcrosse. Shame on you!
Made you look.
I think the Marxist barbie has a look. AOC = Maybelline Marxist.
Then you've got the old ugly leftist cows on The View. Where civics knowledge goes to die.
Kristie Noem is very made-up. Her hair just so.
Same is true of many of the conservative females on Fox.
It's a bit much... agreed. But news media types wear a ton of make up anyway - right?
I note the little crosses... not the big crosses.
The prettiest and smartest of the conservative talkers/media is a lady named Emily Compagno. Often - her make-up is just right. That girl is smart.
I barely wear any makeup anymore. over it.
"...overtly Christian look..."

I was talking about the comedienne. Jessica Grose looks like Olive Oil, and not a very cute one.
Now Do Madonna.
"Do you think they get paid extra for inserting a Trump effect into their postulations?"
Nah, they just can't help it. Its like they have TDS Tourette's. I'll be talking with a liberal about something and suddenly, even though the discussion does not have anything to do with Trump or even politics, they insert some dig at him. I think they feel obligated to say something derogatory about Trump every 30 minutes, even if they are alone.
Olive Oyl, er… Grose epitomizes the “secular, mildly observant Jew” look.

OMG -that. Over and over. It's like a mind-virus with these people. A hive-mind virus.
All while dedicated leftists ignore the horror show that was Joe Biden, the ridiculousness of Kamala... the dog torture.... the Russia lies, the covid lies... all Democratic - all for democratic pocket lining and lust for leftist authoritarian power.
I thought the collective insane left were going to draw up impeachment over Trump's blue suit?
As a creator or comedienne, she shouldn't be content. The world demands more and better!
It’s serious Gorillas in the Mist territory. We are talking tribal identification here, it’s long misreading gang tats or apparel. My theory is that young women religiously signaling with their jewelry are advertising for a compatible mate (husband). For those from NYC, San Francisco, etc. here are some simple guidelines:
- Crucifix (cross with a cruces Jesus) - likely Roman Catholic, or maybe Orthodox - but I know Orthodox wearing unadorned crosses.
- Unadorned cross - Protestant. Our (taken directly from the Jews) Ten Commandments bans worship of human depictions. This includes depictions of Jesus, Mary, all the saints, clergy, etc. Very often, the cross is relatively small, because:
- Large Unadorned Cross - Evangelical Protestants. They are shouting to the world that they have been saved, and will help save your soul too, if you just ask.
- Star of David - Jewish - Duh!
- Head coverings (other than at religious services) - absent anything else, probably Muslim. Other religions also cover women’s heads, but you pretty much know. For example, a woman wearing a head covering, but also a crucifix, is probably a nun. Etc.
So, how do you recognize that a woman is Mormon? After a couple years practicing in SLC, you pretty much just know. To me, the younger women (early 20s or so) just look wholesome. Often blond. Often naturally so. Then, they get married, and start having kids. This often means putting on a little weight, and chopping off their long hair, into a “mommy cut”. But, at least in SLC, it’s also an attitude thing - if they detect that you are a Gentile (which classification includes Jews), they feel entitled to cut in ahead of you in line, etc. I don’t get that feeling from Mormon men - who are overall good, clean cut, guys.
How white can Kamala be - in popular and electoral votes?
Did you see the photo that Fortune magazine published, tightly cropped to include Trump in his blue suit and six or eight other individuals nearby in black or dark grey suits? The uncropped original photograph showed numerous other men in blue suits, but the "journalists" went out of their way to hide that fact from us.
However much you hate and distrust the news media, it's not nearly enough. They are propaganda mouthpieces that would shame an editor of Pravda circa 1936. Puppets and parrots and stenographers to power-crazed left-wing tyrants.
Back-alley whores in Tijuana have more integrity than the journalist scum.
"... the content creator and comedian Suzanne Lambert called it 'Republican makeup,' which she explained to me is 'matte and flat': thick eyebrows and lashes, dark eyeliner on the top and bottom lids, a bold lip, lots of bronzer.
Reads the description of "Republican makeup."
Looks in mirror.
Sees none of it on face.
Rolls eyes.
Mentally flips the bird.
The prettiest and smartest of the conservative talkers/media is a lady named Emily Compagno. Often - her make-up is just right. That girl is smart.
Yeah, she is dazzlingly pretty, but the crisp, clear, well-chosen words she uses to smoothly and politely fillet the guts out of left-wing morons are even more beautiful. Not many men can match her. J.D. Vance is the only one that comes to mind immediately.
@Bruce Hayden, we have several in our community where the women use head coverings, at least when out and about. Some of them are Mennonites, some of them are Eastern Orthodox, I think - they're Eastern European in any case. Usually dressed very conservatively in long dresses, in both cases.
The late Queen Elizabeth II frequently wore what we in the old neighborhood would call a babushka.
Kristi Noem's video is 'horrifying'? Only to illegal criminals and bleeding-heart democrat bloggers!
Mennonite, Amish, and Hutterite women wear bonnets. The colors and the arrangement of the strings supposedly allows the men to tell if the women are married, engaged, or single.
Utah curls also seem to have emigrated. I mostly see straight hair tied back in a pony tail on the local trails. That includes trail runners, hikers, dog walkers, and young mothers pushing baby carriages up the hills.
I recognize these facts are unrelated, but these are the kind of
disjointed connections that the writer made. Nancy Mace got raped. Many of the inmates at that prison are rapists. One can say that the writer showed more sympathy for rapists than for rape victims. This piece makes the writer's ass look fat.
Do conservative womyn trim bush differently?
It was a bit over the top for Noemi to wear tight jeans and a Rolex in front the prisoners, but it was probably intentional--a way of putting topspin on the fuck you.

Ok, this is a law blog. When did this convention start?
I remember it with Janet Reno, 30+ years ago. I have never seen it used with any other civilian Something-General, eg Inspector General, Solicitor General, or even Surgeon General, who's in a uniform (maybe because it's a naval uniform and it would be confusing to call someone who looks like an admiral a 'general?').
I don't remember RFK Sr being referred to as General Kennedy, or Ed Meese as General Meese. But I wasn't born yet for Kennedy, and was still a bit young for Meese.

After all the comments and contemplating the hundreds of Republican women I know my summation theory is that what this article describes is television makeup, not everyday behavior. The only group I've ever seen that almost fits the alleged comedienne's description was the cholas at my majority Hispanic high school.
Good catch, John Mosby. Yes, it was Janet Reno.
Freeman, I've met thousands of MAGA women. Not .001% look like this.
You usedto be less gullible.

Such mean-spirited intentional shaming of women by women. Is this net result of 50 years of feminism and progressive politics? Mean girls playground warfare?
All the more reason to stay home in your own garden, listening to 60s music and reading literature written before 1970. Many of us will become urban hermits in short order.

LOL. First, while I would never have a 50K watch, I also would not know if someone was wearing one if I saw them. Second, sounds like jealousy rearing its' ugly head to me. I had no idea who she was, but looking her up, she is rather plain and certainly does not wear form fitting clothes, and for good reason. Yet another reason to stay away from the NYT.

We're talking about teevee people. There aren't thousands of them. (Or maybe there are. Is everyone on TV now? Does TikTok count as TV?)
