In the midst of reading another Kerouac book. This was his last one Vanity of Duluoz. I'm enjoying it on audiobook. Narrator fits the novel, and its an interesting look into the world before 1945. More of a memoir than a novel.
It was interesting to hear Trump explaining that what they do in the trade deals is give "a number" to the countries they are dealing with and then I guess they work out ways to get to the number. Trump kept talking about "$200 billion" and I wondered if that was "the number." That's not the trade deficit as such but perhaps there are other sneaky costs Canada has been throwing on us. BTW, don't pity them. They know exactly how to move in US negotiations; they've been next door for over 200 years. If they can screw us they wiil ; if they get caught they repent and change without faltering. There's no nonsense about face. The Canadian nation knows Mr. Carney has to accept the change and he won't get in trouble for doing what he must. And he'll do what must be done for Canada. He'll probably try to get on the Greenland team that working out the Greenland issues, too.

I have become rather restrained as I near my pull date, but in my youth -- especially my extreme youth, as I had just begun to explore the possibilities afforded by the human condition -- I would frequently drink far too much alcohol. "SEATAC, Wash. — The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is now offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest of the people responsible for hundreds of laser strikes on aircraft reported in Washington state since March last year.
There were 438 reports of laser strikes since March, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The FBI called it a "dramatic increase" of laser incidents that have illuminated the cockpits for planes flying through SEA Airport and the Spokane International Airport.
