Should I be watching Alec Baldwin's new reality show? "The Comeback" is my all-time favorite TV comedy.

I'm reading "The Baldwins Isn’t Alec Baldwin’s Comeback—It’s Basically The Comeback/On his cringey TLC show, the actor bears more than a slight resemblance to Lisa Kudrow’s Valerie Cherish" (Vanity Fair).
Like Valerie, Alec is an actor who appears to be seeking redemption by turning to a foreign medium that he might have at one time considered beneath him. While Valerie often calls out for her producer “Jane,” it similarly takes Alec about a minute into his show’s first episode to look directly into the camera, as if pleading for help, and explicitly spell out why his five-bedroom apartment is too small for his big family. Valerie attempts to produce her show as she’s being filmed, constantly interjecting about what she thinks should be left on the cutting room floor. Likewise, as they shoot a close-up of him cleaning his garbage can, Alec tosses out a question to the crew: “You don’t really wanna film this, do you?” But when one of his sons says something Alec deems entertaining, he changes his tune: “That was worth the whole day [of filming]! Line of the day!” Alec can’t help but regularly point out the brushstrokes and the mechanics of the show his family is filming as they’re filming it.

Should you watch?

If Baldwin is in it, NO.

Did everyone catch Alec get roasted on the street by a Trump impersonator a couple weeks ago? It was so bad some people felt bad for Alec.

(Not me. I thought it was hilarious and he had it coming.)

Re: the murder charge.

Isn't what happened that Alec was being an on-set bully and fired a gun in a director's face intending to intimidate them? Which *sounds* like an assault. When I was in law school they taught us that when you intend to assault someone and then they accidently die, it's a homicide. Seems super open and shut. There are witnesses and maybe even footage. Alec's temper led to a dead lady and he should be held accountable.

Shoulda named it 'The Blowback' Is Hilaria using her best fake Spanish accent, or has she reverted back to the Boston suburbs? The series can't make it until they invite Harry and Meghan, Mr. & Mrs. Markle, as guests.

no he fired a gun at a co worker, who he had written the script and produced the film, so he was totally responsible,

Yes, by all means, everyone should watch Trump's apprentice live TV show. YOU ARE FIRED! Our president is now a live TV show host. God help us. BUILD THE WALL! LOCK HER UP! I WILL END THE RUSSIA/UKRAINE WAR WITHIN 24 HOURS. It never happens. It's all a lie.

We need to cut Alec a break. Sure he shot 2 people to death. But y'know things happen. And sure Roman Polanksi raped a 13 y/o girl and fled the country after assuring everyone he wouldn't. But hey he sufferred a lot - Sharon tate, so give him a break.

Hollywood saves it cancellations for serious crimes, like Mel Gibson getting drunk and badmouthing a Jewish cop, or Rosanne doing whatever she did. Arent you glad Hollywood is helping shape our culture?

You had me at Lisa Kudrow. After that, I really didn't read much.

Please somebody ask him: did he fall for the Spanish peasant .girl routine up until the wedding day? Beyond?

Seriously? I hated The Comeback. It was the same joke over and over and over and over again: Kudrow's character is clueless and has no clue what's going on around her. Ha-ha.

As I remember the show was all about her and her alone. Lisa Kudrow is better and more palatable in ensemble work. Phoebe, in Friends, really needed those other characters around.

Hacks with Jean Smart features another somewhat clueless performer trying to make a comeback, but it worked for me because the ensemble did a good job. Smart's character also had more complexity and depth than Kudrow's.

I don't even care about the level of responsibility (manslaughter vs. negligence). He killed an innocent person. The decent thing to do is retire from public life for a while. The idea that he would seize the moment to mug for the camera while he does all the mundane tasks of daily life that the dead woman no longer gets to do just screams out that he's a narcissist and devoid of empathy.

Just one. Bad shot.

Which episode does he shoot his cameraman? I might watch that one.

Alec probably thinks that "appearing on TV while not actually killing anyone" counts as "decent".

I was visiting my niece and we tried watching it. The problem is that it was boring and Hilaria's voice is annoying. No, no fake Spanish accent, just a high-pitched nasal voice that sounds much younger than she is, as if she was imitating a 20-something. Alec looks rough - he is not ageing well. The oldest child looks mortified at the whole thing.
