I am heartened to read the Chancellor's latest email re: funding and planning for the next year at UW-Madison. Being pro-active in uncertain times is the best policy.

It still looks like winter in Madison. Definitely Spring time in Texas. Blue clear skies and high of 74. Also low humidity today, which is uncommon for the Gulf Coast.

We have Rosy-faced Lovebirds in our back yard. There are several colonies here in Phoenix that are descended from escapees from a local parrot rescue back in the 1980's. Mrs. NorthOfTheOneOhOne said she thought she had heard them and caught a couple of glimpses of them in the past but now her bird feeding activities have drawn them in to our back yard. So far we've had 4 show up fairly regularly and we've been seeing them perch in the trees close to the house. Mrs. NorthOfTheOneOhOne is over the moon about the whole situation.

here is a good joke.

A JFK conspiracy theorist arrives at the pearly gates. God tells him, the first heaven perk is the answer to the one question they never found the answer to while on earth.

Without missing a beat the conspiracy theorist asks, 'who killed JFK?'

God answers, a lone gunman named Lee Harvey Oswald, from a window atop a book depository, in Dallas Texas.

The conspiracy theorist looks down and says... the conspiracy goes way deeper than I ever thought.

Daily Beast: Opinion: "Elon Musk’s Echo Chamber Is So Deep He Thinks People Actually Like Him"

Writing about Musk and Trump: “I really do believe that because they have created this echo chamber that makes them believe that there are more people who are aligned with their thinking and their ideology than there are, and when they are faced with reality, it really does knock them on their a—.”

I'm old enough to remember the last election incontrovertibly saying who's really in an echo chamber bubble.

Speaking of JFK conspiracy theories: The driver did it. I don't remember hearing this one before. From the video, it does look like the driver may have finished him off.

There is a lot of color in that photograph! And the three distinct slices of the composition are nicely done, purposefully or not.

My wife bought one of those birdfeeders with a camera embedded in the housing. It works! It identifies the type of bird and records them feeding. I didn’t even know what a tufted titmouse was before today. Purchase through Althouse’s Amazon portal.

Tesla is starting to rebound nicely. -30% return on the month but still up 40% from a year ago. +700% from 5 years ago when I first bought some, thanks Elon!

First robin of the year and first sandhill crane sighting. Not bad for up north Wisconsin. Spring is around the corner, any month now.

Careful.

You might trigger Abacus Boy LLR-democratical Rich, Dumb Lefty Mark and Cat Lady gadfly into ANOTHER in a long line of curled-up-in-a-ball crying fits on the floor.

Maybe. I just cut and pasted those numbers from my brokerage website so they could be a little off, I don't care.

Here's what I know as a verifiable fact. I bought Tesla at $89 a share in 2020. After I more than tripled my investment I sold it all except for 30% of my original investment. Today that 30% is selling for $248 a share. Still happy.

Here are some other stocks and funds that have been good to me.

LLY-Eli Lilly, a major drug manufacturer. Think Manjuro and possible treatments for Alzhiemers.

RCL-Royal Caribbean Group. Who knew cruise lines would become so popular? Still lot's of upside.

AMZN-Amazon. Nobody is going to give up this method of shopping anytime soon. It's down now but I expect it to climb back up.

LUV-Southwest Airlines. I got hammered on this when Covid hit but it seems to be clawing back into respectability.

ITA-US Aerospace & Defense ETF. They hold a lot of Boeing stock. Not real flashy but it feels like a safe military-industrial complex investment.

Invest at your own risk, do your homework. These investment opinions are strictly my own. Past performance is no guarantee of future success.

My favorite NewYorker cartoon of two lovebirds, Do I love you? Do I love you? Of course I love you, I’m a godam lovebird!

Under demoadministrations the EPA used sue and settle where a friendly enviroorg would sue the EPA and the government for some aledged envirocrime and would quickly settle for $100mm thus sending government money to envirofreaks and then the government would sign a consent order saying that for 100 years the government was not allowed to do some dirtyenviro thing like allow factories to grind metal.

Trump should look into this. He could get lots of consent orders where the government was not permitted to do die for 50 years and such.

That's some chronic retribution! There had to be a reason he picked on Columbia. Now we know why…

Decades Ago, Columbia Refused to Pay Trump $400 Million. Note That Number. ~ NYT
'A quarter century ago, the university was looking to expand. It considered, and rejected, property owned by Donald Trump. He did not forget it.'
