"As Jolie moved through the rooms of her gallery with a cup of tea, she paused to take in the unlikely scene. 'Sometimes I think, what are we doing?'..."

"A clutch of women had found their place beside her, urgently wanting to talk about art and activism. 'And then I think, no, this is everything.'"

From "Angelina Jolie Wants to Pick Up Where Warhol and Basquiat Left Off/The actress is building a community of artists, thinkers and doers of all kinds, in a storied building in downtown Manhattan" (NYT)(free-access link, so you can see the art, the artists, and the artsy spaces).
Jolie listened intently to Neshat, the Iranian visual artist and filmmaker, a striking figure with kohled eyes. “Art doesn’t come from intuition,” Neshat said. “It has to come from the life you have led. It has to relate to the world.”

Meanwhile, Jolie's ex, Brad Pitt, is running into trouble with his real-estate-based humanitarianism: "Brad Pitt Suffers Major Setback In $20M Legal Battle Over Defective Homes For Hurricane Katrina Victims" (Yahoo).

The actor had built homes for these individuals in the wake of the natural disaster, but the homes reportedly developed dangerous mold, leading to the class action they filed.... Pitt had spent $12 million through his Make It Right Project to build these homes, which were designed to be ecologically sustainable....

Katrina struck New Orleans 20 years ago.

Pitt and Jolie got divorced in 2016, it’s hard to believe that Jolie wasn’t involved in this fiasco also. They lived together in the French Quarter at the time. I find it interesting that Jolie wasn’t sued, she supposedly provided seed money for Pitt’s nonprofit.

Please no. Please, don't. Stop. Make it stop.

In the south newer homes don’t have vented attics. The insulation runs along the underside of the roof and if the house is less than say, twenty years old that insulation is likely the spray foam kind. Condensation and therefore mold likes to stick to it if you don’t run the air conditioning…

I've always believed that Jolie was a victim of abuse, and as a romantic partner, absolute poison. Poor Bradley. Give a house away, inherit the lawsuits.

Probably confused ecologically sustainable with biologically degradable. Easy mistake to make. But, in contrast to his ex, at least Brad tried to do something positive with his money.

To ecologically sustainable building products, mold is an apex predator

A quick look at Louisiana charitable immunity...

In Garlingtonv. Kingsley,' the Louisiana supreme court abol- ished the doctrine of charitable immunity without condition or exception. The court held that "charitable institutions are not immune from suit in tort and that injured parties proceeding against such institutions need not plead or establish those circumstances which some courts have recognized in the past as exceptions to the so-called rule of charitable immunity."' It is unnecessary to detail the history of the doctrine of charitable immunity in this state or to analyze the jurisprudence applying the doctrine, since that has been done thoroughly in an excellent article by Gary L. Boland in the Louisiana Bar Journal.'

However...

Volunteer Protection Statutes
A volunteer, director, officer or trustee for a non-profit organization is not individually liable for injuries resulting from an exercise of discretion in their duties. A member, director, trustee or officer of a non-profit hospital or organization is not liable for acts or omissions of any officer or employee of the organization.

"Cold eyes"?

No, "kohled eyes."

Who's on first?

If Angelina is looking for artists, is Manhattan really the best place to look?

Sitting around some loft, eating pita and humus, and discussing the plight of refugees, the rights of women, and wrenching "meaning" from exile (really?) with that crowd: Welcome to Hell.

I've owned two cars with "ecologically sustainable" wiring insulation in them. Based on vegetable oils. The rats and mice were VERY sustained, to the tune of roughly $ 9000 of damage.

Very likely yes. Plenty of self absorbed frauds, of course. But big cities do attract the most interesting people.

I remember reading a detailed article about the lawsuit years ago. It's a classic case of grifters using people's good intentions against them. And the grifters here are not the people in the homes. Brad managed to get ensnared in a pit of vipers.

Pitt spending his own wealth to help? Good on him.
But then he threw in ecologically sustainable. WTF? It is to laugh.
First they homes appear to support the ecology of mold. Is that the ecology he wants to sustain?
Secondly people needed SHELTER, right NOW not some lesser level of shelter to make the virtue signal flash.
