The question was "What do you say to Americans who feel as though" we were lied to. The question was framed to exclude an assertion about what you supposedly really did. But you gave that kind of response anyway — the nonresponsive response. Why'd you do that? It wasn't believable. It was a bald-faced lie about a bald-faced lie. It didn't even address us, the people — people with feelings about what you did. You just went off on a screwy rant that ended with a demand that we salute Joe Biden.
Salute the President? And they say Trump supporters seem like fascists.

If he was in cognitive decline before the debate, it was certainly not apparent to me nor to any of my colleagues. Any of us who has watched a loved one suffer age-related decline can say that they have good and bad times, and that often they themselves know they're missing a step and try to minimize the effects in conversations, for instance. So, no, none of us had any inkling that the President was unwell."
It would have been a lie, of course; Biden's decline was apparent during the 2020 campaign. But it would have been a responsive (though untrue) answer.
So now you expect a simple country lawyer to make medical diagnosis on the President of the United States of America.

Iirc, Acosta's questioning of Trump was somewhat more insistent.....I don't think we live in a totalitarian country, but the media certainly tries its best.
The word now is that Trump didn't really win such a huge landslide and is, therefore, not entitled to enact any sweeping changes. In this he differs from Biden who was the most popular President since FDR and was therefore entitled to radically restructure America.
Not sure what’s wrong with 74. Ann turns that age this month, and I think at least does this better than ever. I often marvel at the subtlety of her posts, and the discussions she starts.
I should add that I am roughly three months older than she, so am quite prejudiced on this subject. I also know though of friends, and esp of fraternity brothers, close to our age, who have already suffered from mental decline, if not worse.
This is true of all people and not simply Republicans or Democrats. People of a certain age and importance are reluctant to hang it up. McConnell, Ginsberg, Pelosi, Feinstein, Thurman, Nadler.....there's a long list of important people who were or are demonstrably ravaged by age. There really needs to be a mandatory retirement age. Important people don't want to step down, and the people in their orbit want them to stay in orbit......There are some old people who are functioning well. I guess that includes Schumer. Now “Minority” Leader. Which I thought was odd, because when the Republicans are in the minority, their leader is typically identified as the “Minority Leader”. They had the swearing in ceremony last Friday (1/3), with Sen JD Vance standing up there with VP (and Senate President) Harris, and several other Senators, swearing in the new Senators. So Sen Scheamer no longer leads the Senate majority.
