"No. Look, we didn't. And let's – let’s look – let’s look at President Biden. He's had an amazing record. The legislation we passed, one of the most significant groups of legislation since the New Deal – since Lyndon Johnson's Great Society, putting in 235 judges, a record. And he's a patriot. He's a great guy. And when he stepped down, he did it on his own because he thought it was better not only for the Democratic Party, for America. We should all salute him. We should all salute him."Chuck Schumer is confronted on NBC for covering up Biden's mental health decline.

Never forget: The Democratic Party knew that Biden wasn't competent enough to be president and hid the truth from Americans for four years.
Democrats do not care about Americans. It's that simple. pic.twitter.com/4sJbzMPi4C
The question was "What do you say to Americans who feel as though" we were lied to. The question was framed to exclude an assertion about what you supposedly really did. But you gave that kind of response anyway — the nonresponsive response. Why'd you do that? It wasn't believable. It was a bald-faced lie about a bald-faced lie. It didn't even address us, the people — people with feelings about what you did. You just went off on a screwy rant that ended with a demand that we salute Joe Biden.
Salute the President? And they say Trump supporters seem like fascists.
ADDED: Here's the transcript. In case you are questioning whether Schumer said "We should all salute him" twice.

"Shut up!", he explained.
Democrats are like Republicans, is the thesis at hand. Yet, mostly, Democrats are women and Republicans are men.
The women like narratives, the men mock narratives.
Indeed that was Trump's appeal as a guest on Imus for years in the 90s.
The problem for Schumer and his coconspirators in politics and the media is that even the tiniest admission of knowing deceit on this topic opens the door to the avalanche of admissions that he and they should be making.
And he has confidence that Americans can be induced to forget. I fear that he might be right.
Politicians are not our “leaders”. We elect them to represent us, not lead us. Also, addressing the senate minority leader as “leader” is a new media thing.
Not that sure about Schumer's mental acuity at 74.
Does anyone really expect him to have answered differently?
When the media make a good faith effort to afflict the comfortable, and the comfortable avoid the question, it's up to the NY voters to hold him accountable. Why do New Yorkers keep reelecting this DNC stooge?
As if the media wasn't entirely complicit.
Where did I read that these "acuity" recriminations among Democrats and the establishment media, all of which will come and go with Biden, are deliberately intended to distract from more ingrained and systemic corruption?
In a time when lying is par for the curse, the lye of the year was really blatant. Appearance after appearance showed President Biden in a doddering light.
"The question was framed to exclude an assertion about what you supposedly really did." Correct. Even now, the MSM feel compelled to cover for Dems. They can't help themselves.
"But you gave that kind of response anyway — the nonresponsive response. Why'd you do that? It wasn't believable. It was a bald-faced lie about a bald-faced lie." Correct. Even now, Schumer et al. cover for Biden and feel compelled to lie. They can't help themselves.
Until recently, they could get away with it, given prog hegemony in the media and the institutions. That control has not disappeared, but the bubble has burst. Now they're lying to themselves.
He’s the Pelosi of the east coast.
Why would a leader doing so well need to step down?
Heck, that lie was kept alive for so long, it really should be the lie of the decade.
Heil, Obama!
There. I saluted the President.
More people listen and watch Rogan than any of the networks.
The most important takeaway from this interview is that the media let Chuck Schumer get away with this obvious gaslighting because the media are the government.
What Schumer meant was "You f*cked up. You trusted us."
This is the same asshole that posted a photo of him grilling raw hamburger with the cheese already on. Fuck him and dementia Joe.
Why don’t interviewers deal with this by saying, “I’m sorry, you must have misunderstood the question. What I asked was .
"It was a bald-faced lie about a bald-faced lie."
Well you know what they say about already being in a hole...keep digging!
This is a very good point.
It's a step back from "he belongs on Mt. Rushmore". With time comes perspective.
Schumer is a special kind of slimeball. Didn’t bring a single budget bill passed by the house for a vote. So we could have more wasteful continuing resolution spending. And he never gets called on it by the MSM.
Perhaps we should try "Great Leader" on for size....
Asking why New Yorkers vote the way they do assumes facts not entirely in evidence.
Speaking of mental acuity, Sen Grassley was just selected president pro tem at age 91. Follows Vance and Johnson in line of succession to presidency.
Boris and Natasha propose 'Fearless Leader'
Schumer couldn’t tell the truth if you paid him.
Maybe he thinks the low rider glasses cover up the fact that his nose is growing as he speaks.
In the words of the late great Rush Limbaugh, as early as the 1990s when Schumer was still a mere congressman, "The most dangerous place in DC is between Schumer and a microphone." The only thing that has changed is expecting an honest from him once he has that microphone. This is where you wish someone would trot the famous expression from the McCarthy hearings "Have you no shame, sir?"
Many up votes on this.
"And when he stepped down, he did it on his own..."
Is that so? Joe Biden decided, all by himself?
By convention, President Pro Tempore is the most senior (by service, not age) member of the majority party.
At 91 Chuck Grassley will hold at least 99 town halls in Iowa this year, one in each county plus other public appearances. You should subscribe to his Instagram account. You might learn something about how people age.
I got a salute for the president.
..!.. ..!..
I noticed that on the other show, Face The Nation, Pelosi was already seated when the interview started. I assume she was wheelchaired in, but that would be bad optics. Her wigmaker is doing her no favors either, at least not today.
Given that he didn’t answer the question at all, I would say yes.
Does anyone really expect him to have answered differently?
I can think of one way to answer differently, at least: "Look, most people don't know just how little face time any member of Congress has with the President. If he was in cognitive decline before the debate, it was certainly not apparent to me nor to any of my colleagues. Any of us who has watched a loved one suffer age-related decline can say that they have good and bad times, and that often they themselves know they're missing a step and try to minimize the effects in conversations, for instance. So, no, none of us had any inkling that the President was unwell."
It would have been a lie, of course; Biden's decline was apparent during the 2020 campaign. But it would have been a responsive (though untrue) answer.
So now you expect a simple country lawyer to make medical diagnosis on the President of the United States of America.
Maybe she should try the weave instead like the President Elect.
Gee Ms. NBC reporterette, what to you say to the American people who know you, and almost the entire Mainstream Media, lied about Biden's mental acuity and covered up for him?
Someone needs to ask her that question.
And quit calling him "Leader" - God that sounds so fucking German. Senator is good enough.
And when he stepped down, he did it on his own...”
I think he meant to say when he fell down the steps he did it on his own.
Speaking of mental acuity, Sen Grassley was just selected president pro tem at age 91.
And he's still smarter than the dim bulb he's replacing.
RCOCEAN II
“And quit calling him "Leader" - God that sounds so fucking German.”
[North] Korean, not German.
Well, at least she didn't say it was just "pouncing Republicans".
Expecting Chuck Schumer to tell the truth is like expecting your cat to do calculus.
"Americans", such as they are, won't forget. "Democrats", on the other hand, don't need to forget as they are all in on the scam.
Every cat that leaps from a crouch to catch a bird in flight solves a partial differential equation in its head before making the jump.
Schumer’s title is “Majority Leader “. When the new o gree is sworn in he will still be the Minority Leader.
In fairness to lying Chuck, given that Biden's staff blocked anyone from seeing or speaking with Biden on a "bad" day, and given what a dim bulb Biden was even in his more youthful vigor, maybe he did appear like the same venal idiot that Chuck had come to know over the years.
Sen Shumer: "Look, if people are So F*CKING Stupid, that they'd believe a word *I* say..
They DESERVE the crap i throw at them"
Meet The Press: "Thank YOU Sen Shumer"
Okay, so Biden is a great guy who totally dropped out of the race of his own volition. How does any of that prove that he's as sharp as they all claim? As much of a non-answer as that was, you just know there are people nodding along as if he explained or defended anything.
Smells of treason… only reward should be lethal injection for, at this time, an unknown number of people.
Support the narrative at all costs, no matter how much it makes you look like an idiot.
The problem is that they have never really internalized there's this thing called the 'Internet' where what they said 6 months back, a year, two, four or more can be called up in seconds, and compared with what they're blathering right now.
They still believe the news cycle will save them. 5 days, and something new will be going on that'll take people's minds off what they said.
But once on the internet - it's forever.
We really need a mandatory retirement age for the House and Senate. Now it seems like that age is "When you drag me out of the office after I've died."
As Christopher B said indirectly, some people age better than others. Compare Biden to Trump, for example. Who has more energy, both cognitively and physically?
Someone really needs to say to him, “Are you out of your freakin’ mind??”
Biden was also a regular on Imus. I'm not sure what his appeal was.
Yes. +The corrupt democrat mob party never apologize.
Newsbusters:
"The tell here with Welker is that she did not interrupt Schumer as he proceeded to respond to her question on Biden’s mental decline and Schumer’s own furtherance of the phony “sharp as a tack” narrative. Schumer was allowed to deflect and kill time undisturbed. No “to put a fine point on it” or “but that’s not what I asked”, as is her modus operandi with Republicans.
Queen Nancy probably was carried in using a sedan chair instead.
Schumer was just giving the boiler plate knee jerk response.. cause he is a party hack. A real accomplished party hack.
Sure he lied.. hell they all lied and knew Biden was crackers at least a year ago if not more. But the gravy train would end if Biden was 25thed away. Kamala would have been Prez then. And shit-for-brains Kamala would be worse so.. they did it to 'protect America'... least that is their sack-of-shit lying excuse.
In realty they did it to keep the gravy train running for them.
I remain convinced that when the history of this era is finally recorded, Schumer will be a key figure and his approach will be ridiculed.
It’s true that a lot of legislation — expensive legislation — was passed, but to what end? The “Inflation Reduction Act” in fact increased the rate of inflation, as anyone not economically illiterate by is well aware. Schumer claims that this was one of the “most significant groups of legislation since the New Deal,” but to what end? The legislation included $42 billion to bring broadband to homes that have no access to the Internet. Three years later the total number of homes connected to the Internet must surely be in the tens of thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands, right?
Actually, the total number is zero. Not one home has received the blessing of being able to view kitty-cat videos, or anything else. None. Nada. Zero. Where did $42 billion go? No place productive, that’s for damned sure.
After Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm was embarrassed when a stunt to supposedly prove that long distance travel was feasible backfired on her due to a lack of charging stations, the Biden Administration secured $7.5 billion to install a half million charging stations nationwide by 2030. As of last June they’d installed only seven, though I have since learned that they may now be all the way up to eight. For the record, depending on local grid infrastructure, Tesla builds them for $100,000 to $140,000 apiece.
I’ve lived through the presidencies of Lyndon Johnson, Jimmy Carter, and Joe Biden. It has not been a picnic.
Long instance travel in an EV. Sorry about that.
Once, Daniel Patrick Moynihan was New York’s Senior Senator.
Chuck Schumer replaced him.
There really isn’t anything more to say.
Feinstein was passed over in 2021 although not clear she knew that happening and agreed.
Indeed. Schumer himself warned Trump about the Deep State's "six ways from Sunday" to get him in 2017. The Party's doubling down on deceit has continued every year since, whereby they either destroyed whatever ethics they had as they became the USA's own KGB, or they fully lost track of the truth per DEI propaganda and dementia.
https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/1866424/schumer-warns-trump-intel-officials-have-six-ways-from-sunday-at-getting-back-at-you/
Rather than male/female, Democratic voters look to the government as their Daddy Warbucks provider and protector -- welfare, WIC, SNAP, Section 8 housing, Obamacare, nonprofit grants, rules to control risks, etc., while Republican propaganda addresses flexibility, lower taxes, patriotism, law-and-order, and to be left alone (even as they fail to recognize that they too suckle heavily on the government teat).
Propaganda plays well for anyone who wants to believe -- just different narratives.
let’s look at President Biden.
We were, and we all saw. You lied about that appearance.
He's had an amazing record. The legislation we passed
One of the big news story that is hardly covered is how much money was spent from this new legislation that resulted in nothing happening. How many EV charging stations do we have because of that legislation? How much broadband internet is available in rural areas because of that legislation? You passed it, but what did the executive branch do to execute on it?
"We should all salute him."
We do. With one finger.
He keeps getting re-elected because your elections are fake. And you haven't figured that out already???
The question could be turned on her as well. The “feels” part insulates both of them from the hard truth.
Deny, deny, deny … Old News.
The totalitarian state is said to have complete control of the media. The public was only informed about what Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini et al deemed worthy of publishing . Facts that were not supportive of the state and its leaders were not mentioned or even hinted at. The news people speak of Trump's tilt toward Fascism, but their lies and disinformation topped any of Trump's braggadocio. The reporter's questioning of Schumer was polite and non-invasive. Iirc, Acosta's questioning of Trump was somewhat more insistent.....I don't think we live in a totalitarian country, but the media certainly tries its best.
The word now is that Trump didn't really win such a huge landslide and is, therefore, not entitled to enact any sweeping changes. In this he differs from Biden who was the most popular President since FDR and was therefore entitled to radically restructure America.
Not sure what’s wrong with 74. Ann turns that age this month, and I think at least does this better than ever. I often marvel at the subtlety of her posts, and the discussions she starts.
I should add that I am roughly three months older than she, so am quite prejudiced on this subject. I also know though of friends, and esp of fraternity brothers, close to our age, who have already suffered from mental decline, if not worse.
This is true of all people and not simply Republicans or Democrats. People of a certain age and importance are reluctant to hang it up. McConnell, Ginsberg, Pelosi, Feinstein, Thurman, Nadler.....there's a long list of important people who were or are demonstrably ravaged by age. There really needs to be a mandatory retirement age. Important people don't want to step down, and the people in their orbit want them to stay in orbit......There are some old people who are functioning well. I guess that includes Schumer. You have to be in good shape to tell such a robust lie. But all that can change on a dime when you're old......I include Trump in this category. He's full of vigor and vitality, but he's seventy eight years old and sometime soon he will not be full of vigor and vitality. We're all poor forked creatures......Perhaps now that an old Republican will replace an even older Democrat in the White House, some bipartisan support can be gathered for passing age limits on public offices.
Country lawyer? I thought that he was from NYC, explaining the level of deceit, dishonesty, and general sliperyness that we all know and despise from him.
Schumer: look, didn't matter who's president, Biden sat in the WH but we ran the show after we stole 2020 election.
Truth doesn't matter; public perception is what counts, and MSM colluded with Democrats to pretend that Biden was "sharp as a tack". Sharp, yes, but not intellectually present nor functionally able, but to Democrats and MSM this was a minor inconvenient detail.
Bet Schumer gets reelected.
Now “Minority” Leader. Which I thought was odd, because when the Republicans are in the minority, their leader is typically identified as the “Minority Leader”. They had the swearing in ceremony last Friday (1/3), with Sen JD Vance standing up there with VP (and Senate President) Harris, and several other Senators, swearing in the new Senators. So Sen Scheamer no longer leads the Senate majority.
Good luck with that narrative.
He obviously meant honor for his service to the country, not assemble enmasse at perform a salute (or even all where the same silly hat.)
Biden probably IS all there. But he is in his mid 80s and not awfully articulate or sharp in repartee. In other words just too damned old. He had no business not retiring, and his self-interested friends were kidding themselves.
The republicans are soon to be faced with the same reality. (Different though: Trump will continue to appear sharp, but he's going to go further and further down the bat-shit rabbit-hole.)
If Trump so much as misspoke a single word over one of his lengthy stemwinders, Democrats yelled for invoking the 25th amendment. They care little about actual facts or circumstances. They only care about power, keeping it, and not letting the other side get it. Period. What's with the glasses sitting at half-mast on his nose? Is he going for the college professor look? Weird.
NBC is a joke.
"Yeah, but..."
