"Cybertruck that exploded and truck in New Orleans attack rented on same app."

 ABC reports.

Investigators do not know what caused the blast, such as whether something was wrong with the vehicle or whether something external prompted it. Determining what was behind the explosion is the key focus of the probe.

An official briefed on the probe told ABC News that the Tesla Cybertruck had a load of fireworks-style mortars onboard. Investigators were urgently working to determine a motive and whether the driver intended to set off an explosion and why....

[Elon] Musk later posted on X: "We have now confirmed that the explosion was caused by very large fireworks and/or a bomb carried in the bed of the rented Cybertruck and is unrelated to the vehicle itself."
It's not known if Musk's claim has been independently verified....

Has ABC's report been independently verified?

"Cybertruck that exploded"

The cybertruck was a truck of peace. I hope that cybertruck sues ABC.

Waiting to see if that Cybertruck will be spun as a terrorist attack or a design innovation.

The disinformation bot does his thing.

Abcs report is FALSE until proven otherwise.

The cybertruck is currently being interviewed, but it released a statement saying that it definitely did not explode, and that due to its tommygun-proof construction it did its best to contain whatever exploded inside it. The cybertruck resents and denies ABC's wild accusations.

Cybertruck was detonated is that sk hard to say

Device manufactured by South African immigrant explodes near entrance to Trump hotel.....

LVPD: “The fact that this was a Cybertruck really limited the damage that occurred. It had most of the blast go up through the truck and out. The front glass doors at the Trump hotel were not even broken by the blast, which they were directly in front of.”

Disinformation bot claims fireworks manufactured by South African immigrant.

BUMBLE BEE said...

Authorities credit the design of the cyber truck with directing the blast upward, sparing serious injury to bystanders, asshole.

Takes a licking, but no more ticking.

Apparently the Trump hotel also has blast doors. Many lives saved/protected because the Tesla Cybertruck is designed for fire/blast to go UP (maybe because of battery fires?) and Trump protects his people via blast doors.

There was another terrorist attack in Las Vegas a few years ago. Supposedly "never solved". Tesla PLUS Trump means only one things - Hate - the acceptable type of hate like against insurance companies - still has a place in the good ole' USA

They'll have to explain this one then....

If the trucks were rented, then there should be a money trail to follow, right?

I wonder how much video the truck captured. Especially since it was a rental.

ABC Is probably still waiting for the vote counting to finish in the PA Senate race. Owned by Disney. Living in Fantasyland

I hope the people who put their trucks on the app disclosed to their insurers that they were doing so. I wouldn't want to have to explain to USAA after the fact that I'd rented my vehicle out commercially and someone blew it up or got it riddled with bullets.

Limited the damage? I've read that seven people were injured, some of them severely, and James Woods on Twitter says (link) he's seen people on Twitter laughing and gloating because they'd heard they were all Trump employees. I haven't seen such Tweets, but I'm ruthless in blocking the kind of people who even look like they might tweet such things.

Spun?

The '1 dead' in the headlines is the driver aka suicide bomber. WTF you think it is?

Christopher B said...

Yeah, by amazing coincidence a guy drives up to the front door of the Trump Hotel, parks, and his truck explodes into flames at that moment before he can exit.

tommyesq said...

Kathryn51, I suspect the truck was designed to have a very strong and durable bed and sidewalls for cargo-carrying purposes, and that the design happens to also direct blast and fire upwards, but that the direction of a blast was not actually considered when arriving at the design.

They just showed the back of the truck on the news update - filled with gas cans and other explosives.

huh - I was hoping it was Rachel Maddow in there. Doors locked - go-spoldie dope.

Patentlee said...

I saw that as well, which leaves no doubt that the explosion was intentional, and not some fireworks accident.

Musk haters and Free Speech haters hardest hit.

"The evil knuckleheads picked the wrong vehicle for a terrorist attack. Cybertruck actually contained the explosion and directed the blast upwards.

Not even the glass doors of the lobby were broken."

Big Mike said...

It's not known if Musk's claim has been independently verified.

Considering that all of the people who know how to examine and interpret Tesla fleet telemetry work for Tesla, how, precisely, does ABC propose to have the telemetry data “independently verified.”

Gospace said...

Even if they did- insurance won't cover the damage. Because it wasn't an accident of any kind.

I read somewhere on x yesterday that Turo includes a $750,000 policy for those who rent out their vehicles, presumably reflected in the rental cost.

RCOCEAN II said...

Some one beat me to it. I wouldn't trust ABC "news" unless i had 2 independent sources. The fact that they don't know nothin' about the who/what of the attack, just means ABC doesn't know. Or they're covering up for someone.

We'll have to wait for independent verification and reporting.

Leland said...

The driver also served in the same military unit as the terrorist in New Orleans. As noted previously, it won't stop the disinformation bot from spreading disinformation. If it didn't do so, it seems it would have no other reason to bother us here.

Peachy said...

ABC "news"
Always Buy Communist.

TobyTucker said...

"follow the money" If the person who did this was serious, they would have rented the trunk using a fake ID and paid cash or used a stolen credit card.

As far as Musk's claims, all you have to do is look at the video and the pictures yourself and it's obvious that it was material loaded in the bed of the truck that exploded. EVs don't "explode" anyway. The battery shorts out (from being damaged or from poor design or faulty manufacture) and the lithium catches on fire. (And is a real b*tch to put out.)

Gravel said...

This is an exceptionally ignorant comment, even for you.

RCOCEAN II said...

Violence breaks out
Explosion occurs and fire breaks out

Always the passive language to decieve by the MSM. And "Isn't independently verified" begs the question. Why didn't ABC verify it before they issued the report? Oh that's right, because they didn't want to verify it. Because Musk is right.
