"In recent months, Mr. Kennedy and his camp have approached at least a half-dozen people... to gauge their interest in serving as his running mate."

"Aside from [Aaron] Rodgers and [Jesse] Ventura, he is said to have spoken with former Representative Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii; Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky; and Andrew Yang, the former candidate for president and New York mayor, the two people familiar with the discussions said.... All have turned him down, or their conversations have not advanced, except for Mr. Rodgers and Mr. Ventura, the people familiar with the discussions said. If anything could be interpreted as a hint of where Mr. Kennedy might lean, the domain name kennedyrodgers.com was registered last week using a GoDaddy host....

From "Aaron Rodgers and Jesse Ventura Top R.F.K. Jr.’s List for Running Mate/Mr. Kennedy said he had been speaking with the Jets quarterback 'pretty continuously' for the past month" (NYT).

Having Rodgers as a VP candidate says one thing about a Presidential candidate: "I'm not serious"

Personally I think Tulsi Gabbard would be a pretty good addition to the Republican ticket. Perhaps not as good as Tim Scott, but certainly better than Nikki Haley.

Well, that settles that.

Rogers and Ventura, although good people, underline the unseriousness of Kennedy.

RFK wants to get the message out about the dangers of the mRNA shots, and the ridiculous vaccine schedule imposed upon America's children. Rodgers might be an effective communicator on this subject. Resisting the mRNA shot was the right thing to do, and Rodgers took a stand.

I still think this is Trump's REAL Achilles Heel.

Vaccines are good. Not all are bad. But why can't we study the entire cocktail? Why can't we look into the cocktail's relationship to the Autism spike?

The Hepatitus B Vaccine is given to babies at birth, 1-2 months, and 6 months. Three doses first year. Why? Just in case their mother is a needle shooting drug addict?

"Hepatitis B is transmitted when blood, semen, or another body fluid from a person infected with HBV enters the body of someone who is not infected. This can happen through sexual contact; sharing needles, syringes, or other drug-injection equipment; or from mother to baby at birth."

So Yang was a candidate for president and also was/is New York mayor? What does it take to write for NYT — or edit for the paper?

RFK Jr clearly doesn’t intend to keep playing deep into the postseason so honestly Rodgers is a perfect pick.

To be fair, I'd never assume the reporting is serious, either.

Nevertheless, Trump has broken the mold, and the quixotic presidential campaign can no longer be entirely discounted, at least on the Republican side of things.

Millions of Americans were dumb enough to take Kamala Harris seriously. Rodgers is a few steps up from her.

RFK Jr. knows he's not going to win. But his message of caution and open information on America's vaccine schedule is important for American Children. Rodgers is and advocate.

Democrats have made great efforts to silence his campaign. Adding Aaron Rodgers would create a great amount of press and publicity...

And I do agree with Minnesota Farm Guy above. Tulsi Gabbard would be a good pick to run as Trump's VP. Plus, she's smokin' hot.

Cool.

RFK rj. is the only adult running.
Both Biden and Trump are clown shows in there respective corners.

Trump thinks he can "garner" (sorry) voters by acting like a snap-chat goof ball. whatever.
It's fun and easy to poke fun at Crook Joe - but Trump needs to get serious about his attacks on Crook Joe's open borders. Trump - stop sounding like a get-rich quick ponzi scheme pitch-man or a used car salesman. Please.

In the unlikely event Rogers is on the RFK ticket, I predict they will get (or garner) more than 60,000 votes in WI, certainly more than enough to alter the result.

What power does a VP really have, anyway?

mccullough said...

Rodgers is actually good at something.

It’s rare to find a politician who is good at anything.

What if no-one want's to be the VP for Trump (not that it's likely). Can he still be elected without a VP?

It's going to be quite a scrum between the two of them, fighting to be first on camera.

He's a guy who will siphon off old white "Camelot" Democrats and no one more. If they truly will not vote for Biden, they'll vote for a Kennedy. This bloc is dying off rapidly, but then, rest homes are where you might harvest many ballots.

So is the Kennedy Veep idea now to try and pick off a few Republican votes? Where is that kooky harvard prof when you need him?

Gabbard is who Kennedy should choose, I just doubt she would accept.

Quaestor said...

Quaestor agrees with MadisonMan. RFK's limited choices illustrate how morally bankrupt the Democrats truly are. No one but a has-been pro wrestler and a has-been pro footballer is openly willing to gamble his mirage-like political future on a reform-minded liberal. Iniquitous lunacy as represented by the Resident's masters** is completely in line with the elite donors. But, a turn toward decency? Never.

**The titular chief executive hasn't a thought in his brain beyond where's my ice cream? and show me the money!, consequently no discussion of Mr. Biden's priorities or goals is relevant. Though his competence to even regular his bowels is slipping fast, the Inner Party will not replace him on the ticket. Biden's near-perfect controllability is more valuable than any other consideration.

Rand Paul is the only candidate named, and perhaps the only person on the planet, who could get me to vote for RFK Jr.

What a different country we would have, how much stronger, safer, more secure and prosperous we would be, if the principles he and his father espouse had ruled our destiny since the end of the Reagan era and the Cold War.

Jesse Ventura is not a nice person. Then again, neither is the majority of Washington, so I am not sure it matters. I suppose it only matters if the media likes you or not. That said, Ventura is long separated from any political relevance, and his time as a celebrity pro wrestler or Hollywood actor is even more long separated, so these days I am not sure what, if anything, he brings to the table. The last thing of note was to host The World According to Jesse which came to an abrupt end when its owner was sanctioned due to the war in Ukraine. Picking a VP who was on the Russian payroll is certainly not something I would recommend.

Aaron Rodgers would be the logical choice, given the fate of New York Jets fans is to suffer.

I thought RFKJ might approach Sinema, especially as she's at loose ends. That would be a fun ticket.

I'm not a particular fan of RFKJr, but I have to say his candidacy keeps re-affirming the power of propaganda when it's repeated incessantly. Every time I've ever heard of his position on vaccines, it's always been: 'I just want them tested before they're put into distribution, just like any other drug, to ensure they're safe'. His advocacy record bears this out. They ask this after laying the groundwork that he's an irresponsible Luddite on vaccines. The one thing thing I think I can absolutely believe about RFKJr is that he believes in vaccines, but wants all of them to be tested for health safety first, and the pharmaceutical companies held liable when they violate that.

VP Candidate? Well..... let's see Ventura give a speech, bare-chested with his championship belt over his shoulder and the announcer standing there with the microphone. Then, I'll decide.

Kennedy peaked, as Althouse documented, with his mention in the Biden ad. From here on out he has only the long slow ride through the lack of interest anyone has in his candidacy, until he goes back to doing whatever he was doing before this vanity project.

"Having Rodgers as a VP candidate says one thing about a Presidential candidate: "I'm not serious"

Well, having Trump as a candidate for POTUS (he having already accidentally been a former POTUS) says several things about our vaunted boast (and, fantastically, our sincere belief) to be "the greatest country ever," namely: "We're not serious, we're not rational, we're ignorant beyond belief, and we're in terminal decline."

Or, put more tersely: "We're finally following all previous empires into exhaustion, senescence, and expiration."

Cookie, even you can't seriously believe that Trump is the cause of that decline.

I say he's the effect of it, and if we give him a free hand, the cure for it.
