"Donald J. Trump on Friday posted a nearly $92 million bond in a defamation case he recently lost to the writer E. Jean Carroll..."

"... a move that will allow him to appeal the verdict without having to pay Ms. Carroll.... In a separate case, Mr. Trump faces a judgment of more than $450 million levied by a New York State judge in a civil fraud lawsuit brought by Attorney General Letitia James.... Unless [the intermediate appellate court] panel cuts him a break, Mr. Trump will need to post a bond for the full amount by March 25. If he fails, Ms. James is expected to move swiftly to collect, seizing his bank accounts and potentially even some of his New York properties...."

And the case should be reversed and dismissed on the briefs. No oral argument.

Just one issue to decide. Trump's right to due process was violated when the NY legislature passed a special law to open up the statute of limitations. What was it? The lawsuit was 30 years after the alleged incident. E.J. didn't know the year and she said she was wearing a dress that wasn't made until years later.

But, of course, the entire State of NY is corrupt when it comes to Trump. So, this probably won't happen.

This can't be allowed to continue.

There's no coming back from this. Politicians will only go forward with political prosecutions.

This can only drive up extremism, as citizens conclude there is nothing the elite won't do to get their way.

Presented here without comment. The acceptance of the lawfare is quite discouraging. The appropriate responses should be injunctions, disbarments and a few hangings. Guess that will have to wait until Republicans use it..

Trump was found to have sexually assaulted E Jean Carroll. This is no longer a mere "claim". Victims of these abuses should not be treated as suspicious in this day and age, even after they have won their cases. Trump assaulted her and then defamed her. It does not get worse than that.

I'm looking at what's going on in NYC and thinking: "How in the hell is this even legal? Isn't the 8th Amendment supposed to protect against this?"

"Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted."

Nearly half a billion for a 'crime' with no victims? Where the supposed 'victims' said they'd loan him money again? A judge and DA twisting the law so something that wasn't even a crime until Trump came along is now worth THAT much?

And $90+ mil for a civil suit for defamation because he was accused of rape and there not only was no evidence, the woman had posted rape fantasies on-line? Then he dared to say she was nuts? WTF?

Are the NYC courts TRYING to destroy trust in the legal system?

Guess there's no hate like that of true believers against someone who's defected from the cause. Zealots vs an Apostate. Trump was fine in NYC until he ran for President, now they're gleeful at the thought of hurting him financially and stealing his property.

What's next? Establishing a Debtor's Prison just for Trump?

I think having the state seize his properties in New York City will have exactly the opposite effect that the state thinks it will. It will be like raiding his house all over again.

What people will see is the government using its power and its might to unfairly oppress one citizen in opposition.

The left is obsessed, not with justice, but with power. They want to crush Trump. They are so heavy-handed and they don't see how badly this plays with the people.

Seize the Trump tower. See what happens in November.

Would love to know what security the bonding company received from Trump. After all, the bonding company does not want to lose any of its own money if and when Trump loses the appeal. I would.also like to know how much the premium was to obtain the bond, and who actually paid the premium.

Rich:

EJ was not in the least credible. The jury ignored the facts in order to get Trump.

But the appellate court doesn't need to judge credibility if it decides the case based upon the clear due process violation.

How would you like to face a civil lawsuit based upon something that allegedly happened 30 years ago. Unfair!

Trump has managed to bamboozle many into thinking he is always the victim. Man who claims to be worth $10 billion has to borrow $91 million. His whole life has been a fraud.

Perhaps someone with a better recollection of civil procedure can answer my questions. As I understand it, the bond for appeal is simply to stay execution of the judgment. But what happens if a bond is not posted, and the plaintiff seizes the defendant's assets (including real estate by way of an execution sale). If the intermediate appellate court reverses, does the plaintiff have to pay it back to the defendant with statutory interest? That could be an expensive roll of the dice.

This can only drive up extremism, as citizens conclude there is nothing the elite won't do to get their way.

I'm already there. If the Democrat filth will do this sort of thing to a billionaire and former President who threatens their grasp on power, what will they not do to the rest of us to bend us to their will?

These evil scum are our most dangerous enemies by far, a vastly greater threat to all we cherish than Putin and Xi and Isis and all the terrorists and cartels and criminals who ever lived, put together.

I hope this country becomes totally ungovernable by the bicoastal communist scum, even if they do manage to steal the election from Trump.

I want edicts from Washington to be spit on and ignored by common man and state politicians alike.

I want attorneys general and local prosecutors to be twice as creative and ten times as ruthless as the Left in hauling the likes of Mayorkas, Soros, Newsom, or Marc Elias in front of juries in rural Wyoming for show trials and viciously harsh punishments.

I want sovereign immunity, qualified immunity, and Federal supremacy to be totally ignored as we make constant vigorous lawfare on every tentacle of the Left. Let them force us to be hauled kicking and screaming all the way to the Supreme Court, every time, while we bankrupt and imprison our enemies.

Let every building occupied by Federal goons be surrounded by angry citizens with bullhorns intent on making it impossible for them to work, and let local authorities laugh in the face of the Feds when they ask for police protection.

Let all the myrmidons and cronies and minions and henchmen of the enemy monster occupation government be in constant fear for their jobs and their liberty.

And if they keep this shit up, we have more tricks up our sleeve that harken back to the way our glorious ancestors would have dealt with this filth. Each of us will have to decide for himself at what point such actions are the only rational alternative left to us.

Beware the fury of a patient man.

LLR-democratical Rich: "Trump was found to have sexually assaulted E Jean Carroll."

In December 1894, Captain Alfred Dreyfus, a 35-year-old Alsatian French artillery officer of Jewish descent, was "was found to have" committed treason for supposedly communicating French military secrets to the German Embassy in Paris. He was sentenced to life imprisonment and sent overseas to the penal colony on Devil's Island.

He was innocent...but politically purged...because of anti-semitism...an anti-semitism which completely dominates the current pro-Hamas New Soviet Democratical party.

Same political dynamics at work here.

Next up for LLR-democratical Rich: those Jewish Refusniks in the Soviet Union had it coming!!!

Actually, it does. Falsely accusing a man of assault and rape - and then suing him because he denied it - is much worse.

It's disheartening to observe how completely the Democrats have signed on to these prosecutions. You'd think there would be a few dissenting voices on the left. Some of these cases are establishing a precedent that will bite the Dems in the ass, but, more than that, they're just blatantly unfair.....I think many on the right would have objected to putting Hillary on trial, much less in jail for her security lapses which were far more blatant than those of Trump. And there were certainly more plausible reasons to believe that Bill Clinton was a rapist than Donald Trump....Perhaps when Republicans have control of the DOJ, they can open some kind of rape case against Bill Clinton. He and Hillary conspired to rob Juanita Broderick of her civil rights or whatever. It doesn't really matter. Just bar Dems from the jury pool, and try the Clintons for whatever. Be creative. Perhaps one of the hookers that were with Hunter can claim that during one of his binges, he did something non-consensual. Didn't just offer her drugs but made her take them. If you promise a hooker a pile of money and free legal representation, you can get her to sue for lots of things. Believe all women. Sex workers are human beings and deserve to be treated with respect.

Billy, I am conservative and I spent a great deal of my business life "way back when" attempting to collect money from Trump's casinos. I was fortunate to do so before he filed any of his six bankruptcies. We sold him commercial kitchen equipment and parts that no other supplier would give him an open account to buy. So I have always known that Trump was a crook and a terrible businessman who lied about his wealth.

So the case brought against our former guy, the grifter, by Tish James was airtight. He couldn't defend himself against the facts in court, so he spent his time violating the First Law of Holes.

In the Jeanie Carroll lawsuit, he lost $5 million but kept right on digging until he got sued again and a jury found for Ms. Carroll for yet another $83 million just to shut down Trump's continued harassment of the plaintiff. But the good news is that Trump suckered a supporter-owned insurance company to provide a $92 million bond to permit Trump to lose yet again.

So Trump continues his delay tactics as he always does in court but when the appeals fail - and they will because Trump will have to testify. Meanwhile, the interest and lawyer fees keep on ticking.

His first criminal trial which he must attend, begins on March 25, the day that must post a 110% appeal bond on the $454 million fine in the fraud case.

"Don't push back against accusation of sticking dick in crazy,"

Trump chose to speak in public about these charges but never took the stand in his own defense.

If you are trying to challenge a legal claim, isn't the court the place to do that?

Defending himself is exactly what he did not do in this case.
