"Sam Bankman-Fried Said to Agree to Extradition After Chaotic Hearing."

The NYT reports.

Wearing a navy blue suit and a white shirt unbuttoned at the cuff, he slumped in his seat, with his head down and his leg shaking. Soon the proceedings were thrown into turmoil. “Whatever trail got him here this morning, it did not involve me,” [SBF's lawyer Jerone] Roberts told the judge in front of a packed courtroom. He said Mr. Bankman-Fried’s court appearance had happened “prematurely” and without his involvement.

The hearing was adjourned so Mr. Roberts could speak privately with Mr. Bankman-Fried. When the hearing resumed, the confusion only intensified.... A prosecutor representing the Bahamian government, Franklyn Williams, accused Mr. Roberts of wasting the court’s time. Amid the uncertainty, the judge ordered Mr. Bankman-Fried to be returned to prison, where he is being held in a medical unit with four other inmates.

By the afternoon, however, Mr. Roberts had changed tack...

SBF has come to the wise, and age-old, conclusion that in a cramped Bahamian prison cell with 5 other guys, being fat, vegan, and jewish does fuck all to dissuade them you're a sultry wood nymph.

They'll cut some bacon off your back before passing you around like war candy. Vegans make good bacon...who knew.

He is being held in a medical unit? I thought he was being held in a cell with rats and maggots, do they allow maggots in a medical unit?

Brittney Greiner glad that Biden didn't have to give her to the Bahamas to get Bankman-Fried back.

The fact that they called him "disgraced" (an irrelevant editorial characterisation in what is supposed to be straight news) is interesting to me. My sense is that journalists have slowly been getting comfortable that despite his progressive altruism flim-flam, he's actually a crook.

It might be a euphemism. I hope not.

I don't think it's in the interest of the Bahamian government to subject SBF to too onerous a prison regimen. Perhaps some friend of SBF could donate to some fund that provides scholarships for the children of prison guards. I don't think SBF has to worry about gang rape or rat bites. Still it must be a devastating experience to go from a luxury penthouse to a prison cell.....I wonder why there are no heartbreak stories about his investors. There were lots of stories about Madoff's investors. I can't imagine any widows and orphans putting all their rent money into cryptocurrency. Perhaps it was the kind of thing that only rich people speculated in and, even then, with only a fraction of their funds. I don't know anyone who invests in cryptocurrency. You won't met them at the local diner.

Perhaps it is because the benefactors are well known.

Like all liberals, SBF is soft and fragile. I keep wondering when will he get a chance to commit suicide?

The medical marijuana unit? The Bahamas is dominated by the Caribbean culture (despite being just outside in the Atlantic). See Bob Marley. See college hipsters and their Jamaican flags. He should fit right in.

The rats and roaches may be vegans so eating them could be okay.

The only one I read about was some dope who put his family's savings into FTX crypto based on Tom Brady's endorsement of it. Brady lost his shirt but will survive. This middle-class family, probably not.
