I watched the Stormy Daniels show on "60 Minutes." Did you?

Video and transcript here, in case you need to catch up.
Anderson Cooper: He was showing you his own picture on the cover of a magazine.

Stormy Daniels: Right, right. And so I was like, "Does this-- does this normally work for you?" And he looked very taken-- taken back, like, he didn't really understand what I was saying. Like, I was-- does, just, you know, talking about yourself normally work?" And I was like, "Someone should take that magazine and spank you with it." (LAUGH) And I'll never forget the look on his face. He was like--

Anderson Cooper: What-- what was his look?

Stormy Daniels: Just, I don't think anyone's ever spoken to him like that, especially, you know, a young woman who looked like me. And I said, you know, "Give me that," and I just remember him going, "You wouldn't." "Hand it over." And-- so he did, and I was like, turn around, drop 'em."

Anderson Cooper: You-- you told Donald Trump to turn around and take off his pants.

Stormy Daniels: Yes.

Anderson Cooper: And did he?

Stormy Daniels: Yes. So he turned around and pulled his pants down a little -- you know had underwear on and stuff and I just gave him a couple swats.

Anderson Cooper: This was done in a joking manner....

The important question for Anderson Cooper was the size of his member.

Do you think it was bigger than Barack Obama? Bill Clinton? Webster Hubbell?

The MSM is descending into madness.

Daniel Jackson said...

A rather contemptuous act, don't you think? Isn't the contract still legally binding?

Lets face it. Sex with a stranger can be an awkward activity requiring a sense of humor. But did The Donald score using that cooperativly tactical tactic? That's all we really want to know. The heroic part is he has spent $200,000 on Stormy by now just to win the 2016 election over Hillar, all for our benefit.

This story does 2 things:

First it demonstrates the people who own the democrats and the media think Anderson Cooper is a tool and a whore.

The second thing is it shows the democrat tools don't mind being tools and don't believe a single thing they say.

I think the story makes Stormy, her lawyer, and Anderson Cooper look far worse than Trump. Some of the things she and her lawyer said were absurdly self serving, and Cooper let them pass without raising an eyebrow. The subtext of Trump's campaign and presidency is that the media are untrustworthy and biased. This interview is supportive of Trump's position on media bias.

From the transcript:

In May 2011, Daniels agreed to tell her story to a sister publication of In Touch magazine for $15,000 dollars. Two former employees of the magazine told us the story never ran because after the magazine called Mr. Trump seeking comment, his attorney Michael Cohen threatened to sue. Daniels says she was never paid, and says a few weeks later, she was threatened by a man who approached her in Las Vegas.

Stormy Daniels: I was in a parking lot, going to a fitness class with my infant daughter. T-- taking, you know, the seats facing backwards in the backseat, diaper bag, you know, gettin' all the stuff out. And a guy walked up on me and said to me, "Leave Trump alone. Forget the story." And then he leaned around and looked at my daughter and said, "That's a beautiful little girl. It'd be a shame if something happened to her mom." And then he was gone.

We now have a credible claim that an associate of the President of the United States threatened violence against a woman in order to silence her. This seems to be a pretty big story.

Lewis Wetzel said...

Credible . . . how, ARM? Just because you believe a thing does not make it credible.
Credible would be if a police report was filed, if the threatening individual was identified, and if his connection to Trump was verified.
Just saying a thing is "credible" does not make it so.

Gahrie said...

Why didn't she just say no?

Beloved Commenter AReasonableMan said...

Gahrie said...
So what makes it credible?

The bulk of her story is verifiable. To date, at least, nothing in the In Touch interview has been disproved. There are two new elements in this interview: the threat of physical violence and the threat of legal action against In Touch if they ran her earlier interview, which explains why that never ran. This second element has been verified by former In Touch employees. So, in a multi-element story, everything other than the threat of violence has passed at least some level of verification. Why would she tell a lie about this one element in the context of otherwise being apparently truthful?

Ray - SoCal said...

Why lie about the physical threat that can’t be verified?

Good luck, Madame President!

Lewis Wetzel said...

"The bulk of her story is verifiable."
So the part where Trump bangs her is verifiable? Or is that, somehow, the only part that is not verifiable?
Bill Clinton would never have been impeached if Monica hadn't kept the stained dress. The most important part of her story was unverifiable until it was produced, and tested positive for Bill Clinton's DNA. Until that moment, Clinton denied everything, and the press took his side.

Darrell said...

Daniels is on record refuting everything in her In Touch interview. It was not published at the time. Either because she got the desired hush money from NBC or In Touch got cold feet because of potential legal action. Now, when "resistance" is a top virtue, In Touch published the piece. So, credible claim? Right. Just like Stormy's denials.

the 4chan Guy who reads Althouse said...

I'm checking out 4chan like I normally do, seeing what crazy shit people are up to, and of course there is a lot about Stormy Daniels, and some of it is pretty funny. Some of it could be seen as a spirited discussion of the philosophical similarities and differences between being a prostitute and being a porn star, and some of it is just pictures of chicks spreading their ass cheeks and showing their asshole. So it is kinda like an Althouse comment thread, except with pictures of chicks spreading their ass cheeks and showing their asshole.

Some of the 4chan commenters express the opinion that all sex with women is essentially a transaction involving money in one way or another. Mostly by calling women whore, pretty much. Which I think is a little overboard, but if 4chan wasn't overboard you wouldn't have anime cartoons of women being fucked by tentacles and you wouldn't have pictures of chicks spreading their ass cheeks and showing their asshole, so you take the good with the bad.

And taking the good with the bad happens when reading Althouse comments, so that pretty much happens everywhere, just not with pictures of chicks spreading their ass cheeks and showing their asshole.

But after I left 4chan and went to the earlier post on Stormy here at Althouse it hit me: I've seen the asshole of a woman who had sex with the President of the United States. I mean, maybe one of Bill Clinton's women had nude pictures out there, but I bet at most it was hairy 90s bush, not pictures of her asshole.

Like, could you even picture that happening with John Kennedy? Like you could see a picture of his head being blown apart in Dallas AND a picture of Jackie's asshole? It's hard to imagine, I know.

But you can watch videos of Stormy being fucked in the ass by black men with big black cocks. And it doesn't even cost you any money, you can see it for free. I bet if there WAS a picture of Jackie Kennedy's asshole you would've had to pay a lot of money to see it. Especially in the 60s.

I mean, maybe there is some video that shows Michelle Obama being fucked in the ass by Barack with his black cock, but she's black too, so it doesn't have the interracial thing going for it, which some people find hot and shit. And I bet there are more gay men that would want to see a picture of Barack's asshole than straight men that want to see a picture of Michelle's asshole, but I'm just guessing there, really.

So I've seen the asshole of a woman who had sex with the President of the United States, which is pretty cool. But I think it's just the idea that is cool, because Stormy Daniels' asshole looks pretty much like most girls' assholes in pictures of them spreading their ass cheeks. Maybe there are pictures of Anderson Cooper's asshole out there on the internet, and people just don't know it's him. I wouldn't be that surprised, really.

Trump can sue her for slander and stand up under oath and deny that he did it. In the absence of that statement one can reasonably assume that he did what she said he did. He has certainly taken steps to keep the story out of public view, which doesn't improve perceptions of credibility on his part.

YoungHegelian said...

You know, I know that the media think that they're doing this to demean Trump, & if you loath Trump, I guess it works. But, unless you're already a loather, the question becomes: Is this how any human being, much less the president, should be treated? With his most intimate moments discussed on national TV?

I mean, do we get to do this to Anderson Cooper & the rest of the media? Are their sex lives fair game? What's next -- "On the Down Low, with Morley Safer"?

I tuned in, expecting to witness a gay conversion video, Stormy setting Anderson straight.

The poor production values were promising, as was the simple-minded dialogue. But no cable repairman came knocking at the door of the set, nor was Stormy appropriately attired to answer the door, much less demonstrate to Anderson what he'd been missing all these years (much less illustrating that anal is always available here too!).

Didn't I tell everyone here that Trump would be the Republican Bill Clinton? Didn't I?

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

It's being discussed on national TV because of the lengths to which he goes to trap people in NDAs. We know that there is much that he doesn't want publicized. He has a long history of treating people unethically or abusing his legal resources to terrorize them and that makes this story at least as newsworthy as the salaciousness of his boinking a big-titted porn star.

Now, truth be told, the Playboy bunny was sexier than any piece o' ass that Clinton got with and much respect for that. Plus, she seemed very sweet, even. (Although she was a Republican. No one's perfect).

I respected him for that. But he needs to have the Stormy Daniels David Dennison crap thrown at him with full force. You guys might shrug off all his lies as a function of the post-truth internet age, but his reliance on NDAs is important. He can only be allowed to hide from so much. And BTW what about those tax releases? Who else has something on him?

YoungHegelian said...

@TTR/ARM,

Wait?! You guys thought Trump started the "sex business" against the Clintons?

Nope. He started the "Crooked Hillary" alright, but it was the Clintonistas who started the sex stuff in the hopes of disgracing Trump in front of the Christian Right.

Think about it -- who had more to gain by smearing the other with charges of sexual misconduct?

Sorry, check your timetable & you'll see who started the "sex troubles" charges first.

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

I don't care about him trotting out Clinton's accusers. I think that was a smart move and fair game.

I'm talking about Trump the corrupt, lying NDA-signature-seeking cooze hound. If he can't admit who he had sex with that's one thing (although a pussy-ass move). But it shows his pattern of intimidating anyone to lie for him that he doesn't want to tell the truth. I couldn't care less that it starts with a "sexual" NDA other than for how salacious it is. If he has to take hits for his NDA shenanigans in the balls first then so be it. And oh yeah fuck you too Michael Cohen. These assholes who will lie to the end for Trump should be garroted. Poor schmuck never even got his 130 grand reimbursed. Just goes to show you that the most loyal to Trump get screwed over the most. Same problem Hillary had. They're both cancers on the body politic and need to go away.

Have the Clinton's sued every person who accused them of some wickedness for slander? Did Obama sue the people who said he was born in Kenya (like Trump) for slander? Do we then have to believe the accuser?

Straw man. There is quite a bit of supporting evidence in the form of friends testimony, corroboration of dates, and the actions of Trump or at least of Trump's legal team/thugs. This supporting evidence, together with Stormy's own statements suggests that she is a credible witness. But, if Trump came out and made a sworn statement that it was all a pack of lies, that would obviously have to be taken into consideration. How much it would count in the court of public opinion is open to debate. For a lot of people the whore has more credibility than the President.

Lewis Wetzel said...

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

Because it shows the lengths he goes to to cover up. Anyone who knows anything about the presidency knows it's not a one-person job and this fuckface has a habit of pushing out all the human leashes on him and replacing them with yes-men. It's dangerous. Self-delusion is the most dangerous trait one can have in a president. Have we ever had one as self-delusional and allegedly omnipotent as Trump. He's going down. Everything about him is a lie. Someone who goes to this many lengths to conceal everything simply has no business being president. A country cannot be governed on making self-serving, reputation-saving, desperate lies out of everything. Much as Republicans have made a habit out of thinking the exact opposite.

Trump has denied that Daniel's story is true.
And anyway, you are retreating from your statement that if a public figure disputes a damaging story, but does not sue the story teller for slander, it is reasonable to assume that the story is true.

Obama was pretty open-minded on policy. The fact that he was charismatic is just something that gets under their skin. Show me a single policy that he could just be persuaded to go with based on what the last person said and how they flattered him.

But that quote didn't happen. You did say you were buying a million dollar property, though. I can get the comment on where it was (6 miles from Google?) before you deleted it and figured bragging about specific personal investments just to pull your put was kind of a stupid thing to do.

I feel more comfortable with Presidents like Carter and the Bushes--guys who can make their marriage work. That said, the historical record shows that the American public doesn't consider infidelity a deal breaker. There's nothing much to admire in Trump's marital history, but there have been recent presidents who scandals were greater. The big difference is in the way the media has covered or covered up the different scandals. This story doesn't make Trump look good, but it makes the media look worse.......Does anyone believe that that lawyer has Stormy's best interests in mind? Stormy reminds me of Monica Lewinsky? We broke up after a few months & then took it up again a few years later. Then broke up again. She hadn't changed. Hope she's okay, but I expect she had a bad end. A good girl, at heart. Poor little rich girl from Malibu.

He didn't use a condom. She didn't say anything. Again, not valuing herself enough.

However, as I wrote many times now- this isn't going to help the Left defeat Trump- his supporters don't care what he did with Daniels 10 years ago, and they don't care about any NDA they might have had her sign. The Left fought and won this war about consensual sexual liaisons and politicians 20 years ago and the Right's voters have made their peace with it. The Left set the rules here, and the Right is playing by them- which is driving the Left to distraction.

What happened to Monica Lewinsky and supporters by the legal eagle bulldogs was more shameful than what Bill did with her in the Oval Office and the lies told. What the legal sharks did to Karl Rove, Scooter Libby and company was also shameful. This new round of "investigations" by legal/lawyer political adversaries to get Trump is also shameful and diminishes the standing of all involved. The Watergate show and the Clarence Thomas show was great political theater and I believed there was value in the process at the time (although I did not believe Anita Hill) but that belief is now gone.

Kyzer SoSay said...

Compare and contrast Trump's women with Bill Clinton's women.

The best Clinton ever did was Monica. She wasn't quite the prettiest, but she was a gentleman's 7 and quite young, which raises her up notch or two in the desirability department.

Clinton has been credibly accused of rape and assault multiple times in incidents with witnesses and plenty of evidence to corroborate the charges.

Clinton ended up married to a seriously witchy woman with near-zero sex appeal who's aging like a beaten horse.

Clinton's one daughter might not even be his.

Meanwhile, Trump has plowed his way through supermodels, movie stars, porn actresses, and other varieties of hot, young, famous, sexy women - many of whom are also surprisingly intelligent.

Trump has had claims of sexual assault leveled against him, but these were bought and paid for by the Clinton campaign and the DNC, and have virtually no corroborating evidence or anything at all in the way of witnesses.

Trump has married three times, each time to a hotter woman than the ones prior. Caddish? Yes. Absolutely baller? Also yes. Indicative of successful genes and the ability and opportunity to spread them, and therefore indicative of evolutionary success? Also yes. The Trump genes are #winning genes - the results speak for themselves. Trump's current wife is an absolute smokeshow and way smarter than most people give her credit for.

Trump has multiple children and grandchildren. Most are quite handsome and/or beautiful. Don Jr is a good looking fellow, who despite his pending divorce still sired multiple children with a woman who was really hot until she hit The Wall in recent years. Eric Trump is kinda weird looking, but still bagged a smoking hot wife and now they have a child together, a son. More genes to pass on. Tiffany Trump is hot in a kind of trashy way, and Ivanka is a goddamn supermodel. So, the important bases are covered - the Trump sons are intelligent and suave enough to marry hot women, and the Trump daughters are pretty and charming enough to marry rich men (Tiffany is still single as far as I know, but she could easily bag a well-off husband if she wanted to given her looks and reported personality).

The fact is, most men with successful genes and limited impulse control are bound to be cads. Doesn't matter if they're decent people at heart or not, fact is that biologically speaking, men are designed - DESIGNED - by either evolution or God or both to spread their seed to multiple partners and ensure survival of their genetic line. Women - not so much. Women cheat to be with an Alpha male. Men cheat because the sex was available. A man dating a 9 will cheat with a 6-7-8 if he thinks it will be discreet, unless he has better than normal impulse control. A woman dating an Alpha will not cheat on him with a Beta (or TTR, but I repeat myself) UNLESS the Beta is rich or well-connected and she plans to use him and dump him. And even then, the woman will have to think very hard about losing her Alpha male mate if she were to be discovered.

Biologically speaking, Trump is a winner.

Actually, "hilarious nonsense" is how I'd describe what I've read from Trump's testimony in that case as well as Trump's defamation case against Tim O'Brien.

And I described exactly how Bill Clinton's lying and perjury got him into trouble. Clinton was never criminally charged with perjury; but he had to settle the civil case (even though the plaintiff's case for damages was frankly weak) and the idea of perjury, and obstruction, was the leading basis for Clinton's impeachment and his Arkansas Bar Association discipline.

Again, ditto Trump! One of the nice things about the 60 Minutes story last night was that well beyond the interview with Stormy Daniels, they spoke with former FEC Chairman Trevor Potter, who detailed how the payoff to Stormy could be a major FEC violation; one in which Trump and Michael Cohen would be -- how can I say this? -- intimately involved. Just one more in a long list of good reasons to get Trump under oath and in front of a court reporter, with a skilled investigative attorney asking Trump questions.

Just like Trump fans now, as seen on this page.

Clinton was POTUS at the time of his misdeeds, you stupid ass.

This crap was from 12 years ago.

Good gawd. The temper tantrum never stops, does it.

"Given current trends, how do you feel more facts will contribute to illuminating the 'brilliance' of Trump?"
Don't know 'bout Trump, but current trends indicate the ARM is letting his mouth get ahead of the facts.

I thought what happened between two, consenting adults was none of our business.

What changed?

A $130,000 payoff, using assumed names; and potentially involving breaches of campaign finance law, legal ethics, tax liability and numerous other potential areas of legal jeopardy.

I've heard rumors that Trump checked a book out of the school library at Wharton and never returned it.

Impeach now!

What happened between Bill and Monica happened between two consenting adults.

Right; Clinton was President, when he lied under oath.

And now, let's see President Trump, under oath. First question: Do you deny having had a sexual affair with Stephanie Clifford a/k/a "Stormy Daniels"? Second question: Did you authorize your attorney to issue a public statement denying that affair? Third question: Did you have any understanding with your attorney Michael Cohen that you would reimburse him for his having advanced a payment of $130,000 to her?

It goes downhill after that. Now. While Trump is in office as President.

You've got quite the imagination, Chuck.
What do you think Daniels would 'fess up to under oath? She's the one in legal jeapory here, isn't she? SHe has violated the terms of an NDA.
Imagine how easy it would be to destroy the credibility of a witness who is a middle-aged porn actress/hooker.

Tax liability?
It wasn't a gift so any tax problems are Daniels', if any exist.

Legal ethics?
Not Trump's problem here either.

Campaign finance?
A billionaire pays $130,000 and somebody thinks it's a campaign issue?

Fopdoodle cannot stop fopdoodling himself thinking about Trump's junk.

Chuck.
you realize that all this went down when Trump was a private citizen and most of Clintons occurred while he held public office.
So him admitting under oat that he schtuped Stormy is really immaterial. Except for beta males such as yourself.
It isn't important. And does not effect the Trump presidency.

Lewis I don't give a rip about Stormy Daniels. I don't effing care, if Trump and Michael Cohen sue her for $20 million. I don't expect that they will get $20 million from her. And I don't care if Trump sues CBS, CNN, and the Roman Catholic Church to get their $20 million.

What I want is Trump under oath, in front of skilled lawyers.

The question as to whether Trump had sex with Stormy Daniels and then wanted to pay her off doesn't live or die with Stormy Daniels testimony and credibility. Maybe, she's got photos, and audio/video recordings. We've got the laughable record of Michael Cohen's shenanigans. There's all kinds of evidence.

I'm hoping that Stephanie Clifford says to Trump and Michael Cohen; "So sue me. And oh by the way when you do sue me, my lawyers say to give us a date for your depositions."
