"This Pro-Hillary Website Looks Like North Korean Agitprop/Peter Daou, the prickly pro-Clinton operative, has launched a propaganda rag so shameless it would make Kim Jong Un blush."

A Politico headline. The article is by Jack Shafer:
A couple of days ago, Daou launched his self-funded Verrit.com, a slavishly pro-Clinton site (endorsed by Hillary!) to carry on her failed crusade.

The derision greeting Verrit is so universal it inspires sympathy for Daou, as Gizmodo, the Washington Post, Outline, New Republic, New York, The Ringer and others have broken its back with their snap judgments. “Verrit, a Media Company for Almost Nobody,” read one headline. “No One Asked for Verrit, But Here We Are,” stated another. “What Is Verrit and Why Should I Care? (Unclear; You Shouldn’t.),” said a third. “Peter Daou Continues to Embarrass Hillary Clinton,” asserted the best in show.
I'm not going to do links for all those articles, nor am I going to read them. I'll just idly theorize that Democrats really want Hillary to go away (see the top link in my previous post). What's so awful about Verrit? Shafer says:
Imagine if Matt Drudge created a Hillary fan site, only instead of listing news stories in a text-heavy fashion, he arranged them on the Web equivalent of 3x5 cards, and in addition to typing headlines onto the cards, he pulled out salient facts and stats from the stories (called “verrits”). Each card carries a unique serial number that you can plug into the Verrit database to prove … well, I don’t know exactly what it proves other than Verrit drew its facts and stats from the news source cited.
It sounds like a fact-checking site — a politically activated fact-checking site like Vox. Right? Verrit is a portmanteau of ferret and verify, I presume. The site is ferreting out the truth, right? It's a truth weasel, and it skews pro-Hillary.
As Daou’s Verrit manifesto puts it, the site hopes to become the trusted sourced for the 65.8 million voters who cast their ballots last November for Clinton and who seek verified “facts” they can use to argue politics. In theory, everybody needs a cheat sheet. In practice, the Verrit method is cringe-worthy. The headline to one early Verrit borrows from the literary methods of Kim Jong Un’s North Korea to assert, “Hillary Democrats Are the Heart and Conscience of America.” Does anybody outside of the Daou re-education camp really think this way?...
Daou's response to the criticism was an all-caps tweet: “PEOPLE ARE STILL TERRIFIED OF HILLARY. PEOPLE STILL WANT TO DESTROY HILLARY. PEOPLE WANT TO SILENCE ANYONE WHO SUPPORTS HER.”

He's yelling about silencing. Who's terrified of Hillary now that she's lost the election? Mostly just Democrats who are hoping to pull something together for the next election. I don't think they want to silence "anyone who supports" Hillary. They just want Hillary to go away so they can channel the erstwhile Hillary supporters into something that still lives and breathes within the Democratic Party. It is terrifying though, because what could that be?

Why shouldn't Daou provide a place for the Hillary lovers to rest and recover and preserve visibility as a group, a group that is holding back and available to vote for a Democratic Party that represents her values — or the values that they perceive her to embody. It's not easy to remember what the were, so why shouldn't Daou shape and rewrite the myth and run forward into the world to tell the story, like Tom of Warwick at the end of "Camelot"?

On the one hand, it pleases me that more and more Democrats are openly embarrassed by Hillary Clinton and her weird supporters, on the other hand I'd love for Hillary to run again. I'd lover for her to win the nomination, although it's looking less and less likely that anyone on the left will take her seriously anymore.

You can subtract about 4 or 5 million of them who can't read or write in English.

I see Hillary running for POTUS again, but this time the final wooden stake through the heart with a ton of garlic on top of her will be administered by Democrats, who will be sick and tired of her, if they aren't already sick and tired of her.

"“Hillary Democrats Are the Heart and Conscience of America.” Does anybody outside of the Daou re-education camp really think this way?" Depends. Prog psychology, like prog ethics, is situational. During campaigns, when needed, Dems will think that Dem-candidate-Dems are the heart and conscience of America. Afterward, they'll switch.

"PEOPLE WANT TO SILENCE ANYONE WHO SUPPORTS HER.” Not at all! People want them, and her, to keep talking!

"They just want Hillary to go away so they can channel the erstwhile Hillary supporters into something that still lives and breathes within the Democratic Party." True, true.

"It is terrifying though, because what could that be?" Unadulterated socialist progressivism. Throw in a little anti-white BLM and transgender bathrooms, and you've got the newish agenda.

The only thing terrifying to progs is that not enough deplorables have seen the light yet, and that bourgeois democratic procedures block their way in several state and national elections.

"Verrit" is a strange made-up word that hints at the Latin "veritas," famously the inscription on the Harvard shield logo. This is probably ironic. But it also hints at "verify" based on their stated goal of being the site that would confer "real" or "fake" on news aggregated by their algorithm. And who better to trust for truth or validation of fake news than a Hillaloyalist like Peter Daou! As names go, Verrit sucks. Rhymes with merit, another word association that does nothing to help Daou's cause. It also suggests a misspelling of "vermin" to me.

Maybe they were bummed out that project veritas was already taken?

Per my comment in the previous post's thread, she reminds the "deplorable's" that they are considered racist homophobic bigots who are in constant danger of losing their jobs, if they have one, for voicing the wrong political opinion.

In addition, the only reason she got the nomination at all is because her husband used to be POTUS and as a power couple they wield way to much power in the Democrat party. And she and her faction are losing losers. They lost to Donald Trump! They lost to Donald Trump while ignoring Bill Clinton's advice on how to win the Presidency!

So, time serving hack who cost them the election. Whose very presence continues to cause the party to shrink.

Yes, it's really hilarious when Leftists try to co-opt the language. When Leftists Collectivists started calling people snowflakes, that was hilarious, too. When Leftist Collectivists started talking about the 1%, almost all of whom vote for Democrats, that was hilarious. When Leftist Collectivists started calling people corporatists and fascists, that was hilarious. When Leftist Collectivists read Animal Farm and 1984 and saw How-To manuals, that was hilarious.

The number of lies one must tell oneself in order to pursue a given politic is inversely proportional to the long-term utility of that politic.

If Trump gets the economy turned around and it starts growing at a decent rate while actually providing benefits to the people who chose to support him in the red and rust belt states, he will win. If the deep state succeeds in their quest to ruin him and his family as a warning to anyone else who might choose to challenge the status quo, the times we live in will become even more interesting.

I do find this fascinating. She had a hard enough time, last time around, campaigning. There is little reason to believe that she would be healthier in 2020 than she was in 2016, and very likely will be less healthy. Not even addressing her drinking problem, or that she seems to be aging fairly rapidly. Given the known stress of the Presidency, I still think it unlikely that she would have survived one term in office. Even if she were to try to run the country in as hands off manner as did Obama. Yet, she seems stuck in this mode of keeping the hope of her Presidency alive, in order to keep the money rolling in, despite having well more than enough of it already that even her daughter, Chelsea, would be hard pressed to spend it all in her lifetime.

I frankly don't think that the Democrats are dumb enough to give her a third chance, which is why Ron may be right about a cool female ethnic minority may get the nomination - though I wouldn't count out the fake Indian, Elizabeth Warren. In any case, for a decent chance at retaking the White House, the Democrats need to kill any chance of a third Crooked Hillary run ASAP, so that she doesn't suck the oxygen, and the money, out of the campaigns of more viable candidates.

Verrit eh? A source of "facts" that can be used in argument.

Years ago here in California, there was a fertilizer company by the name of Bandini. Their major product--at least in the early days was cow manure. A lot of that was spread on California lawns.

They had a sense of humor; one of their commercials involved a fellow skiing down "Mt. Bandini" and enormous pile of their product.

Sounds to me like "Verritt" is simply a clone of Mt. Bandini.

That Hillary is a still "alive" as some kind of political force - however weak - is indicative that the Dems have no one else in the wings who, currently, can overshadow her. As Howard of BBT would say: "She is dead to me" - and many others.
