The Blonde is helping take care of a stroke victim fed by tubes.

That woman would give anything to be able to eat again.

So this is about as sick as it comes.

Get up off your ass and walk around the block a few times a day.

The article doesn't give the rationale for why this stuff just couldnt be drank. Having an NG tube insertedr doesn't make any sense, unless it tastes god awful, even then having an NG tube is worse than guzzling down some vile concoction.

Gimmick diet, unscrupulous doctor.

Pitiful results of following the government guidelines on diet.

Paleo dieters dont have to stick tubes up their noses.

Low Carb works and it's vastly easier than calorie counting plus it works, it's simply to maintain, and cutting down on carbs has many positive benefits other than losing weight.

Idiots. Don't these people understand that having a Dubhoff tube is one of the worse way of losing weight. I inserted Dubhoff feeding tubes dozens of times and believe me, I had never seen any patient, conscious or or unconscious, who did not show any discomfort during the procedure. To check for placement, you need an abdominal X-ray to see if the tube is in it's proper position in the patient's stomach and if it needs to be adjusted or worse, the tube needs to be replaced because the damn thing is located in the Bronchial tube which would mean another KUB.
The most common complication with having a Dubhoff tube is aspiration pneumonia if you are lucky and all you need is a week or so stay in the hospital for IV ABTs . if you are unlucky, you might find yourself in ICU with a vent or worse, you get to see the Pearly gates ahead of schedule.
Who ever medical professional who recommended this dangerous and uncomfortable procedure in order to lose weight should have his or her license revoked for medical malpractice.

I've reached my 10 NYT free articles limit.. which is probably for my own good.

Too much NYT could not possibly be good for you.. at all.

You can always get to the NYT via the link.

The doctor should be hung by his nuts until he loses 10 pounds. There is no reason for the tube.

When I used to do gastric stapling for morbid obesity, some patients required a feeding tube for a while postop. There are much better operations now, including gastric bypass, which is appropriate only for those 100 pounds over ideal body weight.

The story is ridiculous.

It seems I can over the 10 story limit if go to the NYT via Drudge.

I submit the degree of risk and discomfort is in direct proportion to the self absorption and self-delusion of the bride-to-be. It's a terrible sacrifice without requiring the discipline of a real weight loss program. There is apparently nothing worse than healthy diet and exercise.

We're sitting here judging the bride and the doctor, but wouldn't you just love to be the fly on the wall of the brain of the future husband?

Ha ha

I suspect his feet are so cold he's having trouble running away.

The "nose tube diet" is a part of the future medical cocaine movement.

I was surprised that the Breitbart autopsy found no drugs. I thought every celebrity who died younger than 70 had drugs in their system.

Althouse, I always thought that clicking on ANY link that directs me to the NYT's counted as part of my "ten per month".

Am I wrong about that?

This diet is perfect for narcissists--you can lose weight and get constant attention while doing it.

"Oh my god! What happened?"

"I'm on a special diet for my wedding."
