"You can't spell FAILED without DFL!"

Tweeted by a Republican legislator in Minnesota, which is shutting down right now, after a breakdown in talks between Republican legislators and the DFL Governor Mark Dayton.

DFL? It's the Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party, which is what you call the Democratic Party in Minnesota. Have you ever noticed?

Does Minnesota have any wars going with anyone it won't be able to continue now? What happens to it's Navy?

Yes. I had the same question. Of course that was years ago.

It's always been that way in Minna-SO-ta. Hubert Horatio Hornblower was a DFLer.

Government shutdowns are exciting. I support them, especially when they occur somewhere else.

You mean that barge in the Mississippi? Someone unmoored it last night, and it's downstream of Dubuque by now.

oh my. minnesota businesses will murder millions of of their customers as soon as word of this gets out.

Interesting history to the Farmer-Labor party that was absorbed into the Democrat party.

Well, I raced bikes for a few years, and to us "DFL" meant "dead f*cking last". It could apply to the other DFL as well.

Until a few years ago the MN republican party called itself the IR - Independent Republicans.

The Star Tribune article I saw highlighted the consequences shutting down state agencies. You won't be able to check the license status of your optometrist online.

We should consider merging with Wisconsin. We would get a budget and a winning football team that isn't demanding a new stadium in a budget crisis.

Dayton got his shutdown. Now, what does he do with it ? His mental illness may interfere a bit with long term planning, of course.

I though DFL meant Democratic F@#$ing Lunatics.

Before they start this state up again, someone needs to explain to me why increasing the budget from around $30 Billion to around $34 billion (as the Republicans have proposed) qualifies as "draconian cuts" (as claimed by Gov. Mark (Little Lord Fauntleroy" Dayton

Right now, Democrats everywhere are searching madly for any word that looks bad that has the letters "RNC" in it.

Well, not really. Just ask an old-timer about the loss of the Farmer party to the DFL.

After my forty-some years in Minnesota, three things still amaze me.

1. Democrats call themselves DFL-ers.
2. You can't buy a car on Sunday.
3. You can't buy beer over 3.2% without going to a liquor store.

Meanwhile across the border in Wisconsin, you can hardly find a retail establishment that doesn't sell strong beer and even better stuff!

P.S. Shut down and hoping it stays that way!

They use Labor in the name because Workers makes it Democrat Farmer Workers Party.

All it needs is a hammer and sickle.

Dayton is hoping the shutdown will work for him the way it worked for Willie.

Governor Dayton wants to tax the rich and he wasn't getting his way, that is why he shut the state down. Governor Dayton is a trustafarian -- his family started Target (Dayton-Hudson Corp). Naturally, he holds his trust fund in South Dakota where there are no state income taxes.

He only won election last year because the GOP ran a trainwreck and there is always a pesky third party candidate -- a legacy of Jesse Ventura.

A good blog with news on what Big Gov't thugs are doing in Minnestoa is Shot in the Dark.
http://www.shotinthedark.info/wp/

Example (Actually College Republicans via SITD blog):

"A little later, a group of individuals in wheelchairs started yelling at us and telling us that we were “killing” disabled, homeless, and sick people. The police shut them down, but it just got worse from there. A little while later, a man came up to us and said “history will repeat itself and all of your heads will be cut off.”

The unions are pretty classy, aren’t they?

This was really just the tip of the iceberg. We had people poking our eyes with umbrellas, having their 8 year old children trying to cover up our signs, trying to push us and stifle our free speech, flicking us off, cussing at us, antagonizing us, harassing us… the list goes on and on.

What is truly important, though, is that throughout the entire night, we stood strong and stayed above the fray. We never worked to stifle the oppositions free speech, we never threatened them, and we were never disrespectful."

Example of what governor Mark "trust fund baby" Dayton is doing.....he is trying to make this as painful as possible. Governor Walker offered to have Wisconsin run the Stillwater lift bridge so it could remain open, but Sir Mark the brave said no. He is also shutting down things that can stand alone on their revenue during July 4th weekend, such as the Minnesota Zoo.

Mark "don't ask me why my trust fund is based in tax free South Dakota" Dayton has declared total war.

John Sandford will write his next book entitled DFL Prey. Lucas Davenport will have to move to Wisconsin to get a paying police job where he will investigate Cheese Counterfeiters, Serial Judge chokers, and a deadly Canadian Geese killing militia run out of an innocent looking home in Madison that has an Audi TT parked in front with goose feathers in the grill.

Up until a 1995, the Republican Party in Minnesota went by I-R, for Independent-Republican.

Chuck66 said...

A bit of history.....back in the 1930s they were two separate parties, the Democrat party, and the Farmer-Labor party. And where did the Farmer-Labor party get its money from in 1930s depression Minnesota? Joe Stalin, the biggest mass murderer in the history of the world. After the fall of the USSR, records were released showing the large amounts of cash transfers from that monster to Minnesota Farmer-labor party.

I am quite happy that the Republicans never got cash from Hitler.

Here in Pa, the new governor finalized the state budget within the June 30th deadline for the first time in nine years!

In the prior 8 years we had a tax & spend profligate Dem governor named Fat Eddie Rendell. Libruls only follow rules and regulations when it suits their needs.

Whenever I see something like "You can't spell X without Y" I think back to the son's reaction to those bumperstickers around Madison that say No War in My Name!. And the first time he saw one, he said Well, I can't say that -- because W, A, and R are in his first name. (I'll let you guess what that name is :) )
