Isn't Tony getting way too much exercise after his grotesque belly wound? I guess they've figured that they've shocked us enough with graphic murders and now they've got to appall us with medical conditions. Adriana was beset by intestinal woes before those were superseded by more distracting problems at the other end of the body. And now it's all about Tony's intestines. It's rather gross. Meanwhile, there are all these horribly fat bodies waddling around or keeling over, except the ones who are anorexic ("Does everyone in this family ever talk about anything but food?") or less wide but strapped into leather gear. It's getting quite repulsive! Are we supposed to long for relief in the form of a return to the good old murders? A nice refereshing garrotting?
Dave, of course they sing while cutting the cake. This is gaudy, NJ wedding at a big wedding factory. They didn't show a dozen other rituals, the garter, the bouquet, all that. This is classic, nouveau riche wedding in the NJ burbs, with a little crime thrown in.
So, when do they find Vito? And do they ever find out what happened?
F.Y.I...The wedding scene was shot at Leonards of Great Neck on Long Island...and having been at weddings there it is the church of tacky weddings! It was wonderful!!!On another note i have now gone full circle on Carmela...having depised her a few epsiodes ago..to liking her again. Now that she has accepted who she is and what she's involved with and has become Tony's closest supporter..i can live with it. Its also interesting how both Melfi and Carmela have become the ones who are re-eforcing Tony's status as the alpha-male among all the hyenas vieing to be top dog.
I didn't realize that being "fat" or "obese", or for that matter "anorexic", made a character unsympathetic by itself. There is no inherent moral component to a person's weight.
That said, to me this episode was all about the same conflict between "One" and "Two", and Christopher would call it -- these families' devotion to each other is admirable, but later on, you see the price they all have to pay.
Tony beat up the wrong guy. His eyes went back and forth, from the arm of Paulie to the arm of the new chauffeur. He should have whacked Paulie.
I also am bored. Lots of whacking needs to get started, and I'm hoping for Paulie first. After he slammed that garbage guy's legs, in violation of Tony's edict, he's a walking dead man.
Am I the only one who assumed Tony had previously arranged to stage with the bodyguard to stage at fight to demonstrate his strength to those other guys?
I don't buy the fight being set up. The bodyguard seemed genuinely confused when Tony started in on him. I think if he would have been in on it--he would have done something wrong on purpose.
What terrible advice from Dr. Melfi though! She should have known that, in Tony's world, behaving like an alpha-male means someone's going to get hurt. I usually think she's impressive in her dealings with Tony--but that was dumb.
I don't find anyone on here particularly "sympathetic" as such (except innocent victims)--but in terms of degrees of evil--I liked the Sacrimanos more than most because Johnny loves his wife despite her obesity. The episode that dealt with their relationship was actually quite touching.

...that last grin in the mirror. Yeah, Tony's back.

Did we ever know what "Sack" was short for, before we saw the wedding invitation tonight?
