"When I’m flying, I usually take an Ambien and listen to one of my own speeches on my iPod. I’m out in seconds. But it doesn’t always work, and sometimes you’ll have some funny moments from being overtired. There was an incident in New Orleans, at Mardi Gras, in 1997. But the video has been destroyed and I gave the beads back."Come on. That sounds like one of Jay Leno's monologue writers wrote it. But speaking of Kerry and comedy, I was just thinking of him in connection with that whole clown suit business — how much credibility one loses dressing up in a clown suit, and that time Kerry's people let him do this:
Once you put on that clown suit, people will have that image of you as a clown forever.

I'd like to see him in a tank.
With an oversized helmet, if that's possible.
The tittie beads joke was amusing. I'm sure he ran it by Teresa first, tho.
What kind of man reads Men's Journal?
Teresa's going to be on the face of the trillion-dollar coin.
Somehow I doubt old Lurch is capable of being funny on purpose.
That Ambien will screw you up. I had to stop taking it.
I wonder what the airplain mishap survival rate is for the severely drugged.
Morsi and Putin are gonna love this guy!
Seems like the Ambien shouldn't be necessary if he's got an iPod full of John Kerry speeches.
Why, Just look at that equine, French-looking face peeking out of that suit.
That face knows what it's like to suffer the problems of everyday Americans who also go yachting, windsurfing and live off of ketchup money.
PR disaster.
Kerry should have bought a ranch next to Bush and they should have had a brush-clearing contest. Winner take all.
With the clown suit, maybe Krugman will recommend him for Sec Treas.
Kerry rides a horse into a bar and the bartender who is also a horse says, "So, Mr Kerry, why the long face?"
The thing is, I don't get why this photo is ridiculous. Because you can imagine bunny ears on it too easily? Everyone knows you have to do that. Is it because presidents should never do somewhat compromising-appearing things? If he visited Intel it would be similar.
[I told the Comcast guy he didn't have to put on those shoe coverings. He went back to his truck for something, returned, and tracked crap all over my carpet.]
I think Massachusetts should start a program deep in the Berkshires: The Island of Dr. Thoreau.
Start vivisecting Dem candidates for the perfectly engineered Senator.
I imagine there are so many Kennedy parts laying around it could be done cheaply.
I thought his "joke" about dropping out of school and ending up in Iraq was a scream, but I prefer Saki to Oscar Wilde.
I keep seeing the pic fo him testifying on war crimes. And not wearing "the hat".
That sounds like one of Jay Leno's monologue writers wrote it.
Yes, and that's what makes me think it's un-funny enough to be genuine Kerry Humor.
The funniest images I saw of Kerry was him pretending he could throw and catch a football. Next funniest was him pretending to be a hunter/outdoorsman.
Every clown wishes they were a comedian. It's so many pay grades beyond their reach. Good luck to Kerry busting out of big red floppy shoes.
Hey John, why the long face?
I'm stuck in consent and advice land. Honk!!!
I don't think it's the bunny suit so much as the pose (hands and knees coming out of a little hole, looking up at the camera) and his little grin that made him look silly there. Plenty of people wear bunny suits all day in chip factories, and they don't look particularly silly. Maybe he should have worn a mask too.
I have over a decade of experience working in semiconductor processing facilities, wearing "bunny suits" like the one on Senator Kerry in the picture.
The thing that is funny to me about it is that he should also have on a pair of safety glasses and a face mask. Otherwise the bunny suit is obviously just a prop worn by a person who does NOT know what they are doing.
That is the correct interpretation of the picture.
Regarding Gov. Dukakis in the tank, oversized helmet and all, look again. For a man who called his uniformed service a period of boredom, his face shows the ecstatic happiness of a person taking a joyride in an Abrams tank. That picture did more to make Dukakis more appealing to me than any words that ever came out of his mouth.
Hah -I have that front page picture from the NY Post- am getting it framed now that asswipe Kerry has hit the big time.
You mean like: President Choom
That goofy picture (with its tubes and tight spaces) has always reminded me of Woody Allen's sperm suit in his movie "Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex *But Were Afraid to Ask"

i also never quite got how wearing the bunny suit made kerry look stupid. in my opinion, kerry's actions over the years (winter soldier, et al) have done far more to showcase his stupidity than wearing this or any other garment.
by the way, for those that don't know, kerry is exiting the crew compartment from one of the space shuttles on the pad at cape canaveral. everybody that enters the crew compartment of a space shuttle wears a bunny suit and hat. and regardless of whether the shuttle is vertical (as on the pad) or horizontal (as during processing in say the orbiter processing facility) one enters the crew compartment on one's hands and knees.
i had the privilege of being in challenger's crew compartment prior to the launch of sts-13 (the solar max repair mission). i wore the same kind of bunny suit, the same kind of hat, and because i had a mustache i also wore a face mask. the 15 minutes or so that i spent inside challenger was one of the highlights of my aerospace engineering career.
Take away the eyes and the smile, and Kerry in a bunny suit isn't nearly as silly. *Working* people wear those suits and there is nothing funny about them.

Could it be then that Kerry has never worked a day in his life ?
Kerry's a multiterm senator married to a multimillionaire and is about to become Secretary of State.
I'd rather be such an idiot than any of you chumps :)
The picture in and of its self did not make Kerry silly, he already was that. The picture simply put a visual to what most of us already felt/knew.
