"Why is he allowed to use the word 'GOD' when describing himself? Can anyone imagine the uproar there would be if I used that nickname?"

Wrote Donald Trump, railing, at Truth Social, against Charlamagne Tha God.

It's funny that he looks at the moniker Charlamagne Tha God and his first thought is What about me? Why can't I call myself a God? Trump the God, yeah, that's great, but those idiots will come for me. They'll call me a narcissist!

By the way, Mr. Trump, you're allowed. Go ahead!

Althouse Tha God has a nice ring to it.

In context, it is clear Trump was referring to the uproar that would ensure if he called himself "Trump Tha God," not the legality of him doing so.

Based on his comment, it appears the first thing he thought about was the inappropriateness of Charlamagne “The God” using "God" to describe himself.

For someone who's previously railed against news stories and/or columnists who pretend to know another's thoughts, our hostess seemingly has a psychic relationship with our President's thinking?

Charlemagne was a king. They’ve been attacking Trump using that title even though he never invoked it. So, why wouldn’t he extrapolate?

Charlamagne seemed to be an insufferable jive talker since I first heard about him in 2020

What annoys me more about Lenard Larry McKelvey is not his self-descriptive use of God, but his inability to spell Charlemagne or Leonard.

Blaspheming like that would probably get the Trump Curse to rebound against President Trump, after it has consumed most of his rivals and peer enemies. So I'd rather he did not.

The fake name is typical radio overstatement to attract attention, but this guy isn't very good. He's no Rush Limbaugh. And I highly doubt he reads the Althouse blog.

I feel the same way about Brett Favre's inability to pronounce his own name correctly.

The presidency is a species of elected kingship. The Founders, under the tutelage of John Adams, designed the office and its powers to mirror the British monarchy in many respects, though stripped of the regalia and pomp. They did this to avoid the possibility of the sort of parliamentary dictatorship that replaced Charles I and that would shortly overwhelm France.

If Trump is a king, he's Henry II blended with Elizabeth I, and Biden was Richard II blended with Henry VI.

It seems reasonable to me for Trump to point out that everybody else in the world is "allowed" to use tongue-in-cheek self-promoting hyperbole without consequences, but if he does it, he's taken literally and diagnosed as a malignant narcissist.

God Emperor Trump was a thing. It was, of course, meant to mock Trump but people online adopted it as a meme. The best way to defuse attacks like this is to just roll with it because that drives the Trump-haters crazy.

At 5’3”, Charlatan is most certainly not a god and dat Megan has been rode hard and put away wet about 5,019 times too many… by any rational calculation.

Trump isn't God. He's the "God Emperor". We need to revise the slogan on our money: "In Trump we trust".

That’s going to ruin any horse.

Turns out the ridden hard and put up wet has been in our vernacular for some time. Looked it up the other day, and it shouldn’t have surprised me. It means you rode the horse hard, probably to a sweat, then didn’t brush him down afterwards. It’s one of those things beaten into you if you grow up with horses. (Figuratively by my grandfather, crippled up with arthritis when I knew him, literally by my partner’s grandfather who was still breaking horses at 90).

I got into an online fight when I said I thought that Italian God Emperor Trump statue was awesome. A proggy lady insisted that that it was very very bad and humiliating, and didn't I realize that Europeans hated us!

Trump should try to get a hold of that thing for Mar-A-Lago.
Or the presidential library!
