Kamala Harris is a worthless person. Nothing would really change for the people if she was killed. There is no reason another country or anyone in this country would put forth the effort.
Also Democrats don’t really have that need for protection personally because their political opponents are not insane like they are.
Progressives say the country is safe, so they shouldn't be crying about this.
I think she's at risk -- what public figure isn't? But it doesn't follow that taxpayers should have to foot the bill for 24/7 secret service protection for her. If she's paying for her own security, she can decide which situations call for having bodyguards with her and which ones don't.
I'm also reminded that Trump was denied all of the SS protection he clearly needed last summer partly because of the security being provided at that time to Dr. Jill. I gather from this that SS protection is a finite resource.
If you think that's bad, I'm so old I remember when a Democrat Congress and President took a hard look at seeing if they could revoke Trump's SS detail, on the premise of cooked-up lawfare charges, and were disappointed to find that they couldn't.
As opposed to simply following the existing laws and regulations, they invested taxpayer resources into trying to come up with new ways to circumvent them, for political purposes, to hurt their political enemies.
Compare, if you will the likelihood of violence against Harris versus, say, RFK Jr as he ran for President. Lots of loonies calling him a murderer. Lots of family history of assassination.
Yet Biden would NOT grant SS protection for RFK. Let Kamala pay her own way or stay huddled in safety at home. Either way a win-win for the rest of us.
Kamala can get more money from those who donated $1.5B to her brief "pop star fun time" campaign last year. Maybe Oprah can return a few bucks, or Bloomberg, or Gates, or Soros.
Trump's first VP, Mike Pence, had a book (you surely read it!) and did a book tour about a year after he left office. His Secret Service protection ended, as prescribed by law, 6 months after he left office. Just for the record.

One of the excuses for the poor SS protection for Trump at Butler was because most of the SS in the area was "protecting" "Dr" Jill.
Good for Trump for saving valuable resources by not wasting any on the Biden Admin people who set him up to die
For some reason I have a copy of Mitt Romney and his lovely wife Ann Romney's cookbook. In there they casually mention how Ann loved cooking for their secret service detail while they were running for President. The day after the election, she made pancakes or something for them, and the secret service detail left for good.
So Kamala got far, far more secret service protection as a losing Presidential candidate than Romney.

I also think someone said that being on the Romney's SS detail was sought after, because just like GWB (for all his faults), the Romneys and GWB's family treated the secret service like humans.

A substantial number of former Administration people were given protective details as it was winding down, including some for the same WH staff that likely authorized and Autosigned the orders. Harris is apparently the last one. Good.
