Glad Drago and Tina are still here.
Enjoy AA conversations with Grok. If not, I skip it.

Believe Epstein was not afraid of death but was depressed about losing everything and spending boring life in prison.
Epstein created a will and trust 2 days before suicide. Don't ask me for a link, I already posted it twice.

Bill Gates and other visitors had sex with adult prostitutes, not 14 year old children.

Althouse photos are way better than her mouse sketches.

Eggs are $3.10 at Costco, no limit. $8.50 during Biden, 2 dozen limit.

Pam Bondi, at Trump's demand, is trying to get grand jury testimony in the Epstein case released.

This allows Trump to claim that he wants to release this stuff, knowing full well that grand jury testimony in the United States is sacrosanct.

No court is going to allow that testimony to be released to the public because that would destroy the grand jury system.

Bondi presented a deliberately weak argument to the court, which will allow the court to slap it down.

Bondi and Trump can then (in a day or two after getting slapped down in court) blame the court for hiding all the Epstein files.

It's a cynical, corrupt move that is going to work magically.

The border is closed; illegals are starting home.
The military recruiting problem is fixed.
NATO members are pledging to meet their obligations (and more).
Iran's nuclear program is buried under a mountain.
DEI is in retreat.
University radicalism is on the defense.
The economy is strong and profligate government spending is under attack.
Leftist NGOs are being defunded.
And the price of eggs has returned to normal.

Trump is doing a great job.

Yep. Despite all the other things going on, the day I've longed for since ... well, forever, is finally here.

PBS and NPR have lost their federal funding.

Remember all those Republican promises? Decade after decade they promised and didn't do jack.

And now? NPR and PBS will have to compete just like everybody else.

Big kudos to Speaker Johnson. I wasn't sold on him, but he's done yeoman's work the last couple weeks.

@Unoriginal Mike

According to internal U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) data obtained by NBC News, approximately 18,000 immigrants were deported from the United States in June 2025.

The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimated net immigration (immigrants entering minus those leaving) for June 2025, at approximately 108,000, with a significant portion attributed to "other foreign nationals" (OFN), including those entering illegally or overstaying visas. This is all during the Trump Administration.

The border is NOT closed.

NATO members "pledge" shit all the time. I pledge to donate to NPR every year to get the tote bag. I never actually send them the money and neither does NATO.

NBC is reporting that Trump only destroyed 2/3ds of Iran's stockpile of Uranium, according to Israeli spies onsite.

DEI might be in retreat, but that's only because they rename it. They kept all the money they were spending on it.

I could go on, but it's tiring. You definitely have the Trump spin down, though, I'll give you that.

I'm guessing the WSJ will settle for less than that figure.

It's clearly a Deep State op on Trump for destroying the Democrats USAID money-laundering operation.

The PBS station's website now has a donation- button banner reading "Defunded but not defeated." Apparently the elected government of the United States stopping payments to the CPB counts as an act of aggression or even an act of war. FLC: "No court is going to allow that testimony to be released to the public because that would destroy the grand jury system."

Yeah, no. GJ secrecy is important, but it's important because it allows the government to build a case in secret at its own pace. The very same evidence given to the GJ is going to be used at trial, or at a minimum shown to the defendant to compel a plea.

Most of the people who get on the stand in the GJ room are professionals - cops, forensic people, record custodians from banks, telcos, etc - who fully expect to have to testify at trial. The total civilian witnesses and victims have been pleaded with and mollified to get some reasonable probability that they will repeat their GJ testimony at trial. Cooperating coconspirators not only expect to testify at trial but expect their cooperation to be made known in open court at sentencing.

So releasing transcripts from a GJ that concluded years ago, in a case where the target died?

The system will easily survive.

And if the GJ testimony helps reveal some defect in how Epstein was handled?

The system may even improve.

There's no evidence in anything Gabbard published that suggests Obama or the IC acted unethically. But even if you thought they did, the idea that anything that happened was illegal makes no sense given Trump's view of immunity and presidential power.

The Supreme Court already answered this question, in US v Trump. A president has absolute immunity for all acts committed within the purview of his core presidential powers, which obviously includes counter-intelligence.

Trump -- and his subordinates -- view of executive power is profoundly incoherent. On the one hand, they think the president has total immunity for official acts, and that all members of his administration should effectively be instruments of his will.

On the other hand, they think you can prosecute people for revising -- or, more accurately, shifting the focus of -- intelligence assessments. Pick an actual position and stick to it.

Ghislaine Maxwell sued Virginia Giuffre for defamation and it didn’t go so well for Maxwell — who is now serving 20 plus years in prison. All the incriminating discovery in that defamation case became public as a result of the Miami Herald.

Interesting to note that Pam Bondi was Florida's AG 2011-2109 -- a period of time when Jeffrey Epstein's plane records became public, victims' lawsuits were filed and a lot of new evidence against Epstein surfaced. So questions should be asked why she didn't take up the case -- or launch a probe when she was AG in Florida.

A few years ago I was in a Whole Foods in Dallas and couldn't find any Blue Bell ice cream, the national ice cream of Texas. I asked a young male clerk (with fishing tackle accessories and ear plugs), and he snootily informed me that 'Whole Foods does not carry Blue Bell ice cream, because it contains high fructose corn syrup'. He said it as if referring to an indelicate shame, like having genital warts, i.e., who in their right mind would ask for them? I just told him that I felt, at my advanced age, that I might have already proven my competence at making life choices without having them made for me, and left it at that. Then, I finished shopping there and went to the Kroger down the street and bought some.

Saint Croix said...

There's no evidence in anything Gabbard published that suggests Obama or the IC acted unethically.

Matt Taibbi has way more credibility than you do.

On December 8th, intelligence officials were preparing a Presidential Daily Briefing that said...

“We assess that foreign adversaries did not use cyber attacks on election infrastructure to alter the US presidential election this year. We have no evidence of cyber manipulation of election infrastructure intended to alter results."

That memo was buried by somebody in Jim Clapper's office. "Based on some new guidance, we are going to push back publication of the PDB. It will not run tomorrow and is not likely to run until next week."

The PDB was never released. Instead, on December 9, Obama called a meeting. It included Clapper, Brennan, Rice, Kerry and a few others. After the meeting, they all got sent a memo tasking them with the creation of a "new assessment per the president's request."

From that moment forward, intelligence officials began leaking “blatantly false” information about a nonexistent “secret assessment” that Russia intervened to influence the “outcome of the election.” This leaking continued unabated until January 6th, when a new, hastily-crafted Intelligence Community Assessment was released, triggering a series of developments that led to the publication of the Steele Dossier and an explosion of media stories linking Trump and Russia in an unprecedented scandal.

The material is bolstered throughout by explanations of a whistleblower from then-Director of National Intelligence James Clapper’s office. Just this handful of documents holds explosive implications, implicating a much bigger pool of White House officials than previously understood, including Obama himself, in what appears to be a top-down effort to create a false narrative about Russia meddling to help Donald Trump. If there’s an analog in American history, I can’t think of it.

This perp is not only physically sick but mentally as well. Could you imagine if DARK BRANDON spent 30 minutes telling this blatant delusional lie where the RIGHT WING folks would be ripping their eyes out.
At an energy and innovation summit in Pittsburgh on Tuesday, President Donald Trump insisted that his uncle, Dr. John Trump, a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, had once taught a “seriously good” student named Theodore “Ted” Kaczynski.“He’d go around correcting everybody,” Trump boasted. “It didn't work out too well for him... but it’s interesting in life.”
During his winding 30-minute speech at the inaugural “Energy and Innovation” summit at Carnegie Mellon University, Trump elaborated on the story, suggesting that the student was the domestic terrorist and mathematician known as the Unabomber.
After invoking his late paternal uncle, whom he falsely described as MIT’s “longest-serving professor,” Trump continued his implausible anecdote.
Kaczynski was one of his students,” he continued. “Do you know who Kaczynski was? There’s very little difference between a madman and a genius.”
Trump his MIT professor uncle taught the Unabomber - but records say otherwise
The crowd showed little reaction to the story, and it was unclear if the president was confusing Kaczynski, who died by suicide in a federal prison in 2023, with someone else.
The bizarre claim is not only highly unlikely, it is practically impossible.
Kaczynski attacked academics, businessmen, and random civilians with homemade bombs between 1978 and 1995, as part of a campaign aimed at collapsing modern society. He killed three people and injured 23.
Before being recognized as the Unabomber, Kaczynski earned an undergraduate degree from Harvard in 1962, having entered at the age of 16, and Master's and Doctoral degrees in mathematics from the University of Michigan by 1967.
Before becoming the infamous Unabomber, Ted Kaczynski never attended MIT
Kaczynski taught as an assistant professor at the University of California at Berkeley, until 1969, before making a deliberate shift away from academic life and mainstream society, living in a remote cabin near Lincoln, Montana.
Despite Trump’s statements, Kaczynski never attended MIT. There is no record of him ever visiting or lecturing at the university either.
Meanwhile, Prof. Trump, a cancer research pioneer who received the National Medal of Science, taught at MIT for approximately four decades before his death in 1985 at the age of 78.
He focused on high-voltage phenomena, electron acceleration, and the interaction of radiation with both living and non-living matter, including the design of X-ray generators for cancer therapy.
His expertise has been repeatedly vaunted by his nephew, who on Tuesday described him as a “smart man.”
Unlike Kaczynski, John Trump was not a mathematician; he was a professor of electrical engineering and physics.
Even if the renowned physicist did cross paths with the infamous serial killer, he could not have known that Kaczynski was linked to the Unabomber attacks.
The alleged conversation would have taken place more than a decade before the FBI identified Kaczynski as the Unabomber in April 1996 after his brother, David Kaczynski, turned him in after reading his manifesto, Industrial Society and Its Future.
The manifesto makes no mention of Prof. Trump, MIT, or any figures associated with that institution. The MEDIA constantly let this guy LIE HIS BRAINS OUT like jACK NICHOLSON IN THE SHOW one flew over the CUCO'S NEST ThE magas up in here (ths is magaville) just let his lies and delusions slide like oh he is so silly(needs to be in a straight jacket) This perp aint gonna make it, hes too old, delusional and dangerous and sick mentally and physically.VANCE coming for him//

In the Missouri v. Biden (later, Murthy v. Missouri) case, Trump-appointed Judge Terry Doughty ruled that the Biden administration's asking social media companies to explain their editorial policies was “arguably the most massive attack against free speech in United States history.”

Accordingly, the standard established by Trump-supported lawyers is that any government request to suppress media coverage would violate the First Amendment.

So the new $16 billion lawsuit against WSJ, et al, isn’t just government pressure—it’s a sitting president threatening to weaponize the courts against media for editorial decisions over what he claims is “erroneous information.” By Trump’s own supporters’ legal standard, this is a textbook First Amendment violation.

Interestingly Fox News and Rupert Murdoch lost a damages case brought by Dominion Voting Systems for $787 million and still faces a $2.7 billion lawsuit brought by Smartmatic. Fox supported Trump's lies about the voting machine companies, so now Trump wants to whack his most loyal media owner from the other side of the fence

It wasn’t that many months ago they were highly confident they controlled hearts and minds since they controlled the media. Heck a few weeks ago Schumer believed they would slowly chip away at Trump’s approval. Apparently the secret weapons were the new improved dossier and the economy tanking because the media say said it would. Now trust in mainstream
media fights with Congress and OJ for lowest approval ratings ever while lefties are all in…

Be magnanimous, not vindictive.

Saint Croix said...

Magnanimous means to be generous or forgiving, especially toward a rival or a less powerful person.

Saint Croix said...

The Democrats anger, hatred, and fear of Trump, when he was out of office and irrelevant, made him far more powerful than he should have been. It's precisely how Trump was able to regain the White House.

Arresting an ex-president and trying to prosecute him for treason is like arresting an ex-president and trying to prosecute him for 88 felonies. It's a fucking joke, and the American people will not accept it.

You think, "It's over, we won." And then you discover, oops, it's not over. And the other party is back in power.

For you treason fans out there, you'd have to prove that Obama was working with Russia or China or some other enemy of the USA to subvert our republic. Do you have any proof of that?

Leland said...

you'd have to prove that Obama was working with Russia or China

You think so? I know they tried to claim that about Trump, but the people they prosecuted in put in jail? They just claimed they committed a trespassing and then put them in prison for years. This is a bit more than trespassing. It’s more than just lying to a government official, which is what they tried Gen. Flynn for.

Jamie said...

I'm with Saint Croix on this one: attempting to prosecute Obama will go poorly. On the other hand, I like his idea of granting Obama a pardon - say, for actions taken in his private capacity between November 2020 and January 2021. Shine a light on it, give that JD Vance side-eye to the camera, and let people draw their own conclusions.

Trump’s administration is still gaslighting the public on the Epstein files -- this time by requesting grand jury transcripts that nobody asked for.

Why did "nobody" ask for them? Why isn't the corporate press demanding them?

Aggie said...

IT would be a bad move to prosecute Obama. Maybe the best thing to do, is use his own tricks against him. Prosecute Clapper/Brennan/Comey et al if a case can be made, and make sure Obama is mentioned frequently during that process. And then, use the Federal Bureaucracy to make it impossible for him to finish his library. Let Chicago see it - every day.

Because everyone will know that Brennan and others did this while at the least, Obama let them do it. But Brennan and others; they need to go to prison.

Saint Croix said...

Yeah, but we can get Brennan and Comey and Clapper, right?

Yes. Spook the spooks.

Historically they've always been lying bastards, but we accept them because they're our lying bastards, and they're lying to our enemies. But now they're working internally, spreading lies and subverting our elections.

It's not treason, treason is a bad fit. But it's criminal as shit and they should be prosecuted for what they did.

How does a nitwit like Taibbi think a nearly irrelevant Russia story dwarfs presidential pedophilia?

“BREAKING NEWS: We have just filed a POWERHOUSE Lawsuit against everyone involved in publishing the false, malicious, defamatory, FAKE NEWS "article" in the useless "rag" that is, The Wall Street Journal. This historic legal action is being brought against the so-called authors of this defamation, the now fully disgraced WSJ, as well as its corporate owners and affiliates, with Rupert Murdoch and Robert Thomson (whatever his role is!) at the top of the list. We have proudly held to
account ABC and George Slopadopoulos, CBS and 60 Minutes, The Fake Pulitzer Prizes, and many others who deal in, and push, disgusting LiEs, and even FRAUD, to the American People. This lawsuit is filed not only on behalf of your favorite President, ME, but also in order to continue standing up for ALL Americans who will no longer tolerate the abusive wrongdoings of the Fake News Media. I hope Rupert and his "friends" are looking forward to the many hours of depositions and testimonies they will have to provide in this case. Thank you for your attention to this matter. We will, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”! ~ Donald J Trump

I think Trump is missing Murdoch’s classic move here. He lets what they have solidly get published, even if it seems small. Then Trump emotionally sues (see above) and discovery begins and everything is fair game. He’ll be forced to testify and all manner of files will be unveiled and chewed over.

Kak :
"First, the Journal has neither the Birthday Scrapbook nor the letter. It said it “reviewed” the letter. When? Where? How? Was it just read to them over the phone? What does “reviewed” even mean? For sure, it means they don’t have it. The Journal described the letter as being “among documents examined by Justice Department officials” —what officials?— “according to people who have reviewed the pages.” ["people?" What people - name them. Not named. Not sourced.]

In other words: the whole Scrapbook story is double anonymous hearsay. Some unnamed “people” said some unidentified “officials” reviewed the birthday binder and the original letter. Even bad lawyers wouldn’t consider trying to admit that in court. “Um, your Honor, someone told us that some government officials may have seen a letter, which someone else described to us… and we’d like to enter that into evidence.” Okay."

Next, the Journal’s future defendants admitted they know nothing about the letter’s provenance. “It isn’t clear,” the Journal admitted, “how the letter with Trump’s signature was prepared.” Great. And there’s no chain of custody. Nobody’s ever even heard of this Birthday Scrapbook before. “The existence of the album and the contents of the birthday letters,” the Journal conceded, “haven’t previously been reported.”

No leaks, no mention in any of the court cases, nothing, in over twenty years.

Saint Croix said...

hey Narr!

Peachy said...

Kak -
furthermore;;
"Notwithstanding all those problems, the Journal glowingly described the “bawdy” letter. It waited till about three pages in, and then set out a very non-Trumpian, odd, quippy typed (not handwritten) fake dialogue between Trump and Epstein that sounds just like a scripted confession. “Donald: We have certain things in common, Jeffrey,” the letter gushed. “Jeffrey: Yes, we do, come to think of it.”

To make sure we got the message, the carefully scripted, incriminating-sounding typed dialogue was allegedly placed inside a hand-drawn cartoon of a naked woman, with “breasts denoted by small arcs” (small breasts? pre-pubescent ones?) above “Donald,” scrawled as a signature in the sketch’s pubic region.

Get this— despite the obvious, explosive, salacious potential, the Journal did not publish a picture of the actual letter. It did not even explain the letter’s absence. Why not show the letter? Is it sealed? Confidential? Restricted? If so, why not just say that? Or is it possible the Journal never actually saw the letter but just “reviewed” an oral description?

Finally, and perhaps most importantly, the Journal did not mention any forensic analysis. The convenient fact the incredibly suspicious ‘dialogue’ was typed eliminates handwriting analysis of that part, but what about the signature? The drawing? You’d think they’d have cited six forensic handwriting analyses before going to print with something like this."

just to be clear, you're acknowledging that Russia did not "hack" the 2016 election and put Trump in power?
