Now, for the rest of the story. Wife has been having shutter folks come over and give estimates.
3 entities my wife reserached thoroughly. 2 were around 20k, made in China or Mexico, sales reps were white folk. 1 was a Hispanic man who came to our house for measurements, builds them, paints them, installs, etc. Price was around $4,500.
Materials supposed to be the same. Makes me wonder.
We are going with the Hispanic man. Will do a half order and pay about 1,000 upfront and see how things go.
Cut to the chase - Sometimes white people are too God damned greedy, and Hispanics are often damn fine Americans who don't try to fuck people.
Well ! I see Minneapolis is ready for their own Socialist experience, now that the Progressive Democrat Farm-Labor party has given their endorsement to the Somali Omar Fateh, who in the past, has averred that he will use his heritage to guide his actions, putting his heritage first (Oh, boy talk about loaded statements). A 35-year-old career politician with no other adult life experience. Minneapolis about to get what they vote for, just like NYC, good and hard - except they'll be out of money even faster.
Used Grok first time yesterday to find out how "Trucker Hat" is distinguishable from regular ballcap. Thank you, Ann, for bringing this resource to my awareness.

Scott Adams, like Trump, is heavily invested in being loudly, proudly wrong about every single possible thing. Performative stupidity and outrage is literally the only tool he has left to make a living with.
"Dilbert" is, btw, an interesting series of management textbooks, if one has a sense of humor. I do not recommend undertaking an MBA these days without a sense of humor, btw. Its not that far removed from Peter Drucker but updated for technical management in modern times.
The problem with all the Democrats shills is that they always have to dial everything up to 11. If they were a tiny bit less hysterical, they might score some points.
Hey, change of subject: My motel horror story. Many years ago, I stayed at a Motel Six. At about 1 AM the guys above me started arguing. Very loudly. (That’s when I should have left.) Then one of them said “Go ahead, shoot me.” No phones in the room and I couldn’t hide under my bed because the mattresses were on platforms at Motel 6 in those days. And I couldn’t leave because they were in and out of their room shouting about guns and shooting each other. At some point they did something to the plumbing because water started pouring into my bathroom. Finally they quieted down, I went to the night manager to let him know. He yelled at me for not coming and telling him about the water damage earlier. And then I left to find another motel/hotel. Never again a place without phones in the rooms.
Motel 6… worst place ever in Vegas. Back in ‘81, one of our gang - we all had just spent a week in a houseboat on Lake Powell - booked us rooms for a night during our trip back home in SoCal. The room was so horrible my wife and I couldn’t stay there, had to find another hotel before regrouping in the morning for the driver back home. Sure not as exciting as Eva Marie’s evening in one.

Rich just posted this with as much self awareness as you would expect from someone of well below average intelligence.
P. Junkie, be sure it's the right type of cedar if that's the wood advertised. Western Red is good, the stuff my dad got wasn't. They might have lasted longer if he'd paid for metal caps on top to keep water out of the joints.
I never stayed in one again. They went through a pretty seedy period but recent reviews have been ok although they supposedly charge from $80 to $150 now.
My thoughts tonight are, I am feeling safer. Our country is expelling criminals. Small wins too. I've listened to NPR and PBS since my twenties. Great programming. But upon my reflection on politics, I thought, oh, wait a minute, this is JUST one side. I have many friends, family ,who have had to HIDE that they were Christian, that they were conservative. Enough is enough. Why do we have to be silent? I

If so, you're the one who's creating the problem giving that "exodus train" hope... keeping them barely fed on your $4500 work job so they can access government services because they cannot live off what you pay like a union job would....
Own em, ann. These are your men. Do meade pickup a buddy helper from Home Depot when he needs a hand at home? I wonder.
Well, sure. But they don't sound or smell the same.
A few years ago while my husband was in the middle of a deal or some such thing, I took the two younger kids and our dog on a month-long road trip back to PA, from which we'd just moved, so they could spend part of summer with their friends. Because we were going to be away for so long, I found the cheapest hotel I could that would take dogs - a Motel 6 (remember when that used to mean $6? Actually I don't either) that offered a great rate for long stays.
On Night 1, my youngest spent the night at a friend's, so it was just my beautiful 15yo daughter and the dog and I checking into our home away from home, a purportedly non-smoking room on the second floor, about as far from any entrance or exit as it could be.
Well. The cigarette fug in the hallway was pretty much unbearable; our room was an improvement but not much of one. The smoke was stifling everywhere.
And then we learned that this was a shift-workers' haven. At intervals throughout the night, there'd be a shift change somewhere, with thick-booted footsteps (more correctly, foot-stomps) from above, left, and right, with lots of jollity and profanity and an uptick in the smoke quotient.
Even before I realized that at no time in that entire month could I ask my daughter to take our little dog out for relief (I've worked with rough men, literally roughnecks, and they don't intimidate me nor would they be likely to take interest in a 50yo woman on a mission at the end of their shift, but she was, as I said, 15 and beautiful), I had already decided that cost be damned - I couldn't wake up every morning reeking of cigarette smoke.
Let me say that the management there was lovely and we had no bad experiences with the clientele on that one night (I don't blame them for chatting in the halls or for wearing boots); everyone was fine. And I grew up with a smoking dad so I know that as a child I came to school every day smelling of smoke - but it's been a looooong time since then. (And as my sister points out to me, everyone smelled of smoke back then - teachers, babies, doctors.)
Never spent the night in a Motel 6. Did have great afternon sex in one in Clovis NM, many years ago. Every bit as thrilling as the Lodge at Pebble Beach, the year before.
Motel 6. Got the last room on a saturday night. Went into the bathroom to take a shower, and whoops the bottom of the tub was gone. I could look down and see the bathtub of the room below. They gave me a discount. But I"m glad I didn't just blindly step into the bath tub!
My summer college job: maid at a Motel 6! Some nasty people stayed there. Learned to stay behind your cleaning cart at all times. Had to use it a few times to keep drunks from coming at you. If you push hard enough you can knock them over & run! (I went straight to Motel 6 on my bicycle after waitressing at a pizza joint until 3am. Those were the days my friends, I thought they’d never end!)
Actually, I DID try to overnight at a Motel 6 in Odessa, TX, seven years ago. The activity and energy in the oil patch was off the charts and the best deal at the "6" was a single for a little north of $350!
When I asked about alternatives, the nice lady said, "Don't bother getting off the hiway at Pecos - same price. Eventually lighted at Holiday Inn Express in Van Horn, for about $200 :-(

An unfortunate resemblance to a certain character in the entertainment world, fond of demanding Silence ! ! from the audience.

Townhall headline: “ Tim Burchett Sounds Alarm: Biden Admin May Have Tampered with Epstein Files”
What I alluded to in an earlier cafe post.
Kak-a-phony
You are a mosquito.
You, like most hiveminders - buy all the lies that flow down mt Schitt. That's your problem.
Donald Trump has called for the arrest of Barack Obama.
He posted an AI video of Obama and others being arrested.
"Nobody is above the law," Trump wrote.
Which is actually not Donald Trump calling for the arrest of Barack Obama, or anybody else.
It's just him repeating the often cited, but false contention, that in America nobody is above the law.
Hillary Clinton is above the law.
Barack Obama is above the law.
We know this as they have violated every federal law we have and they still aren't in jail.
To recap: Donald Trump hasn't called for jack shit. He just wants everybody to THINK he's called for something.
Trump's love letter to Epstein has been leaked.
It's on his own personal stationery. Bwahaha 😛🤪

Again - easy to fake.
According to Scott Adams, they’re all fakes
Now it's Biden who put Trump’s name in the Epstein files. 🤣
Scott Adams, like Trump, is heavily invested in being loudly, proudly wrong about every single possible thing. Performative stupidity and outrage is literally the only tool he has left to make a living with.
Pizzagate Posobiec is still making a living in MAGA world too..
What is the Epstein list? Does it say who hooked up with underaged girls? Does a name on a flight log mean each person flew to the island to do so?
Names in a phone directory are meaningless. Now, testimony at a Grand Jury session would be more interesting. Is there any of this?
Scott Adams doesnt need to "make a living". He has made millions on "Dilbert", mainly through book sales and franchise fees.
"Dilbert" is, btw, an interesting series of management textbooks, if one has a sense of humor. I do not recommend undertaking an MBA these days without a sense of humor, btw. Its not that far removed from Peter Drucker but updated for technical management in modern times.
"loudly, proudly wrong about every single possible thing. Performative stupidity and outrage"
ahem…
And "Dilbert" is way more fun than grinding through the usually turgid Harvard Business Review.

I trust Alan Dershowitz on anything do with the Epstein files, since he was privy to everything as he defended himself from charges.

Bringing your wife to the Motel 6 has to be grounds for something... Back when I was an engineering consultant "road warrior" I didnt care. Now?

Well, sure. But they don't sound or smell the same.
Cheap hotel joke:
"Front desk"
