Jews unfortunately are wedded to seeing antisemitism everywhere whether it's there or not as a way to produce alienation and suppress (somewhat) assimilation, thus preserving the religion.

Part of that is playing the Holocaust card as a political privilege move, without much thought. That's what locks them out of making a good argument against antisemitism. The Palestinians have their own Holocaust card and that one appeals to the left on campus because it invoves stupid brown people instead of smart white people.

An end run saying that we must ban antisemitism from the right wing isn't making an argument either.

Try finding nice things to say about Jews instead. It's not hard. They treat sick Palestinians in Israeli hospitals. They repeatedly offer mutually beneficial trade to Palestinians and each time Hamas blows it up or shoots it down. Why do Jews do this? It's a commandment. Take care of the other guy. Every fact about God is a commandment: God is merciful means be merciful like Him.

Jewish Messianism (Sanhedrin 98b-99a) says every man is the Messiah. The Messiah has already come because Jews have come. Who takes on the suffering of the world if not the being who says "Me"?

Additionally the Jew's position is every man's position. Every man is a Jew.

Now try to find something nice to say about Palestinians. You can't.

It worked to some degree in terms of bleeding us, but we didn't entirely abandon the moral high ground. We maintained ROE that many in the military argued were far too strict.
I wonder if the goal of Hamas and their allies with regard to the October 7th attacks was the same basic strategy used against Israel. Being perceived by the wider world as holding the moral high ground has always been one of Israel's greatest assets. It seems the information warfare component in the West was ready to go after October 7th.

William said...: It's not genocide, but it's perhaps overkill. The Israeli response should be disproportionate. A disproportionate response perhaps makes their enemies ponder whether the joy of killing Israelis is worth the pain that Israel will inflict on them. But there's a balance to be had. The response should kill more terrorists than it creates, and the response should not alienate too many of their allies. A tricky equation to balance. The past record doesn't argue for leniency.
