"If I see anything I like, I'm allowed to take it...."

Hilarious. Especially bragging about it. And humiliating little Marco... who can't say a word and must duly chuckle.

And, by the way, it's an incredible clock.

I thought the whole tour of the cabinet room was very entertaining. His admitted focus on frames ahead of the paintings was funny as hell.

I was struck by how he can find the time to graze the basement archive treasures and still deliver on his campaign promises. In every respect, he is a remarkable man. We are so fortunate to have him as our president.

He is a quirky, funny man. Very genuine in his own way.

I don’t think Marco minds that much as that clock will be forever known as the Rubio clock.

Seems like Jeanette Rubio isn't Trump's type.

"That's his contribution to the Cabinet Room."

Uh, no. That's OUR contribution. And we borrowed the money to buy that fucking clock.

Goddamn thing should be auctioned off and the national debt paid down with the funds.

It’s good-natured kidding and it’s funny!

Everyone in Greenland did a double-take when he said that.

He has an affable, even charitable character that is endearing to men and women from all classes of society. He refers to Rubio by his first name as a gesture of welcoming familiarity. I wonder how people refer to him in a common climate.

I don’t know the details of this clock. I’m a watch guy so I know watches but not really clocks. Is it American made? I do know unlike 19th and early 20th century watches American case clocks are not regarded for their quality or craftsmanship…

It’s not humiliation it’s the affectionate ribbing men reserve for compadres…

The People would enjoy the clock so much more, without the "burden"... uh, burden of the 40 trillion dollar public debt, and more commercial and private debt, forced primarily by Medicare and Medicaid under the Obamacares umbrella, student obligations to institutions of ossified faculties, etc.

Somewhere some midget district judge is eager to put a stop to all this.

I would have claimed Grandfather Clock from Captain Kangaroo, stored in the National Museum of American History.

First impression, I thought Marco's laugh was a genuine, spontaneous one - not at all toadying or indicative of somebody who's being humiliated.

I continue to be reminded of the vast differences in visibility and tone between this administration and the previous one. In the previous one, we were only occasionally treated to the 'goings on' within the White House, and very little media interaction outside of the briefing room. Here, we get it multiple times per week, with the President addressing the media casually, informally, wherever he happens to be, with forthright, impromptu answers to anybody's questions - not just the flash cards he's been given.

So pretty much the same feeling he got when flying on AF1, looking out the window, and happened to see Greenland?

Vaguely reminiscent of when Putin took Robert Kraft’s Super Bowl ring.

What’s the back story on the clock - how did it come to be in the State Department to begin with?

Really surprised no one made the clock/cock pun, like “Marco didn’t even try to clock-block me.”

Even the Fox News personalities, including Gutfeld, resisted.

Or Trump could have asked one of his gay cabinet ministers: “do you like my big clock?”

n.n. This seems like a mere moment of healthy, sane banter. Trump at his best: conflating the issue before the court about executive branch powers with moving an artifact owned by the people to a more visible location. A wacky uniting moment, indelibly reminiscent of Pee-wee Herman's Clockie.

I agree with the above commenters-it's not humiliation, it's comradery between friends.

It sounded like good-natured joking, not humiliation. I heard Scott Bessent say that Rubio is very, very funny, and always makes everyone laugh in meetings. Sounds like Trump was just lobbing one back. BTW I have been so impressed with Rubio—it looks to me like he is in the perfect spot for his talents and I’m glad of it.
