"Fame is a two-edged sword. There are a lot of blessings but also a lot of heavy things that come with it. I think it has a lot to do with the characters I’ve played."
"I think I’ve been more believable than I should have been. I think people really fear me. They see me and go, 'Holy shit, there’s that guy!' But I’m not that guy. I’m just an actor. I’m a father, I’ve got seven children."

He was one cool dude in Kill Bill. Apparently not shooting blanks either. Well done…
Really can't think of anything about fame that makes it worth the negatives. The availability of women is a big plus. It's amazing how a famous yet unattractive, even creepy, man can bed the most beautiful women. Still not worth having everybody know you on sight and be into your business. That would be hell for someone like me, but people like me don't get famous. As soon as I saw it coming, I'd shut it down out of abject fear.

Often times movie ugly/creepy guys are normal person attractive…
He was my age. They just keep dropping.
I remember him from a podcast/radio interview, probably Opie and Anthony or Joe Rogan. They were talking about some stinker of a film he was in. "I had a mortgage payment due."
Classic.
Never saw the movie (or any other Tarantino product AFAIK) and that sample doesn't tempt me to rethink my decisions.
When the torturing started in Robocop, I told my pre-teen son that he could watch it when he got older if he wanted, and turned it off. Never did see the rest.
Always enjoyed Reservoir Dogs. And I don't watch many movies.
An entire movie revolving around a scene we never see strikes me as unique.
The earliest thing I can remember him in is "War Games" in 1983- he plays the guard who is supposed to watch Matthew Broderick's character when Broderick is being held inside Cheyenne Mountain and flirts with the nurse. He was also the guy in "The Natural" who runs through the outfield fence and dies.
Go easy, bro
Quite a body of work. Always could be depended on for the scariest, wild man characters. RIP.

His sister is Virginia Madsen, so there were good genes in the family.

We will never see Michael Madsen and Mads Mikkelsen in a film together. It's not too late to get Jeremy Renner and Jérémie Renier together in a movie if we all work hard enough.
Two-edged sword doesn't make any sense. It's just a sword.
Two-edged word is likely to be the original.
Chuck Schumer warned us that Donald Trump's Big Beautiful Bill was going to kill a LOT of people. Sad that Michael Madsen was the first one to hit the floor.
Who's next? It could be you.
I know - I enjoyed the Kill Bills.
When he said "Wake-y wake-y eggs and Bake-y" I knew I was in love.
Reservoir dogs - never watched -wont watch that clip. Too violent.
Kill Bill was cartoonish - made the violence bearable. Plus- REVENGE!
Seven children… so sad for them, especially. RIP.
Agree Narr.
I recall - all those years ago - someone told me that Reservoir dogs was good but really violent. I said no thanks, not for me, - a long time ago.
Kill Bill was about as much as I could handle.
Watched the clip. That's why I've never watched much of that movie.
Kill Bill - best scene - according to somebody.
wakey wakey
Tarintino loves stylized and excessive violence. His best movie in my opinion is "Jackie Brown" because he reigns that in and makes a (more or less) "Realistic" movie. But Reservoir Dogs is good, I like it more than most of his movies.
Wish I can say more about Mr. Madsen, but I don't really remember him from anything except R.Dogs. But back to Tarintino. I think he went off the rails with "Inglorious Basterds" and got more and more insanely violent. Of Course, most of the violence was aimed at acceptable targets
I'm sure teenage boys love all his stuff. "Hateful Eight" with its punching a women in the face, and other violence porn was enough for me. No more Tarintino.
I really enjoyed Reservoir Dogs and Jackie Brown. Kill Bill I turned off halfway through and Hateful Eight I sat through and wondered why the hell I hadn't turned it off.
Overrated
Not really a Tarantino fan, because of the overplayed violence. It's not really a dramatic talent, just gratuitous. Violent people don't behave as if they're on stage, performing, in my experience.
I hadn't realized that Jackie Brown was a Tarantino product. I saw it when it came out and thought it was pretty good.
I actually detest that sadist role he played. I’m glad he’s dead.
He wasn’t just an actor; he was a paid sadist.
Tarantino is washed up too. My exSIL showed me his gaudy house in the Hollywood Hills. Loser.
No chicklit, the point it that he WAS, in fact just an actor playing a role. Sorry if I have overlooked obvious sarcasm. You can't possibly mean what you said, right?
I appreciate chickelit's sentiment here. True really.
Expressing hatred for Hollywood is fine by me.
Most of Tarantino's work is violent garbage.
You appreciate wishing death on an actor for playing a role well? Again, really? I understand being put off by excessive violence and I share that feeling, but I certainly don't wish death on actors for playing a role.
I only liked Kill Bill Vol. 1, didn't much care for the second one, partially because I have a serious case of whatever phobia involves being confined in a tiny space (ewwwww, hate even thinking about it), plus the mode of exit is basically impossible, but anyway. . . . .
Might be the only thing I remember him in.
He always reminded me of Glenn Frey.
"Expressing hatred for Hollywood is fine by me."
Saying "I’m glad he’s dead" is expressing hatred of Michael Madsen, seems to me. Does Michael Madsen = Hollywood? I wouldn't think so.
He really was a paid sadist.
I could not do it.
"He really was a paid sadist."
In the movie? He was paid to pretend to be a sadist. Lots of people have been paid to pretend to be Hitler, doesn't mean they really are.
