Trump moves so damn fast, opponents can't' keep up. By the time they formulate a response, he's on to another issue. I've been watching this since 2015, but it still amazes me

Fresh. Original. Inspired. Creative. Amusing. Brave. Amusing. Not boring at all. Now see if you can sprinkle in Nazi, Sexist, Misogynist, Orange. Rapist. Racist. Old. Fat. Felon. You can do it if you try.
He did again. Brokered peace. Not only that, but price of eggs dropped 20 cents this week in my neighborhood, and strawberries are down to $1.50 a pound.

1. Trump praised the second-term Democratic governor as a "very good person" who has done an "excellent job" (LIE) — a sharp departure from his tone in his first presidency toward Whitmer
2. In several appearances on Don Imus’s radio program reviewed by CNN’s KFile, Donald Trump praised Hillary Clinton as a “really terrific woman,” said Nancy Pelosi was going to do “terrific” as speaker of the House, and offered kind words for Bill Clinton, Charlie Rangel, and the Democratic Party. DS9 Neccessary Evil - Just rewatched and it holds up. A great episode. Of course, its not "Star trek". Its "dark and gritty Star Trek" which is what Rodenberry and TNG tried to avoid.
I enjoy DS9 on its own terms. Its an incredibly uneven show. And most unusual in that the show is good due to its supporting characters and "Recurring characters": Odo, Quark, Dukat, Kai win, Garak and Jeff Combs. I'd say among "The stars" - Kira is probably the best.
But back to "dark and gritty". It seems a minority really love it. I'd say you can only get so far with it, and its a lower level of achievement than something that is good and positive. Its easy to do villiany. And keep people's interest with evil or backstabbing, but ultimately it gets old. The same old pattern over and over.
Mamdani was a Ugandan citizen until 2018. His father was Indian-Ugandan and so Mamdani had that citizenship when he was a minor. At 18, as I understand the law, he could choose to apply to become a US citizen but he did not. He went to Bowdoin 2010-2014 and while there founded a chapter of Students for Justice in Palestine. That group believes the USA is not the true owner of American territory but instead it belongs to "Turtle Island," or in other words to the indigenous people. No one's title to their house is valid because no conquest, appropriation or sale by a tribe to settlers means anything. The land still belongs to the people of Turtle Island and must be taken back - by violence if necessary. That is the meaning of the slogan "From the Jordan to the Rio Grande." If Mamdani still believed in Turtle Island when he became is a US citizen in 2018 then he lied when he took the Immigration Oath and his citizenship is not valid. But this is a question, not an answer.
What are Mamdani's present views on Turtle Island? His whole family was expelled from Uganda by Idi Amin because Amin wanted to take back that country from the Indian immigrants - the same premise at work in the SJP and their Turtle Island nation. As a result Mamdani's father has very complex views on post colonialism. But what does Mamdani, who was taken in by this nation when Uganda expelled his family, think?
These theories and questions undoubtedly seem quite esoteric when not ridiculous to most people. But these questions are the way that the younger generation is often taught in the universities, especially the Ivy Leagues. Settler colonialism hides antisemitism and anti-Americanism and comes from the left and must be answered.
wildswan, thanks for pointing out Mamdani's background with its anti-colonial views that are manifest in his virulent pro-Palestinian and anti-semitic, anti-American activism. Also explains his popularity with young, university-indoctrinated voters.
I say "indoctrinated" because the entire anti-colonial and "indigenous people" concept is complete nonsense. If university professors are so brilliant, why are they so stupid or so purposely deceitful about this concept? There is no such thing as "indigenous people". The entire history of the human race has been one of an unending series of migrations, wars, intermarriage, and more migration.
A great example is Mexico. If Mexicans are so proud of being Mexican, then how come they speak Spanish instead of Aztec? Etc. Etc. Enough with this nonsense.
The Socialist that New Yorkers just picked to run as mayor wants to tax whitey more....and will be crying when all the rich, whites (and non whites) run away from the mess he is planning on making of the once great city, that the left has decimated. https://nypost.com/2025/06/27/us-news/socialist-nyc-mayoral-contender-zohran-mamdani-wants-to-hike-property-taxes-for-richer-and-whiter-neighborhoods/

That’s like saying, “if we’re so proud of being Americans, how come we speak English instead of Chippewa?”
The typical Mexican complaining about colonialism has more conquistador blood in them than you or I do. (And while we’re on the subject, your typical black person demanding reparations has more slave-owner blood in them than you or I do.)

Maybe he would cry -- or maybe not. He might think it's progress and social justice.
I see Mamdani as serving a great function as an exemplar. New York City can go bankrupt again, and relive those dirty '70s (which were actually very cool to the young, prices so cheap vs today), and the rest of the country can watch. This may just save the nation from making the same trip into financial and civic failure.
Mamdani might not mind those conditions for NYC. Somewhat like FDR, he can just keep issuing new rules as long as the voters will believe his hokum and accept it.
That's the weak spot in this scenario. Unfortunately for this prospect, Mamdani may have already had his moment in the sun. Adams seems to me likely to beat him as just enough sanity resides in the electorate to rise up and vote non-D. That's my guess. But who can say for sure how much craziness lurks in that population yet. The stock market keeps rising and makes it seem anything is possible. Voters may be so deeply into the extraordinary delusion that they cannot resist casting the snake charmer's ballot.
tim maguire, you're actually confirming my point. The Mexicans demonstrating and rioting in California spout anti-colonial BS while they themselves openly pursue "reconquista" in California. Americans came as migrants and colonists and accept that this is a natural human progression. We also accept the progression of our common language as an amalgam of its English roots with many variations from the many other migrant cultures that swept in.
A large chunk of my family tree, on my mothers side, were (or probably were) slaveowners. Some were encomenderos (holders of land grants, natives included). Some came from Cuba (Cienfuegos), some Mexico (the greater Viceroyalty, incl Central America). One ancestor showed up in Cadiz with three slaves, about which he had some issues. A very colonialist lot, deeply plugged into the Spanish empire, soldiers and officials.

Yes, Michael, it amazes me that he finds so many ways to lie, cheat, steal and break the law - and to change the little mind that he has.
Boo hoo, gadfly.
I guess botfly isn’t Iranian.
So, we're into ... what ... Day Four of the nonexistent cease-fire?

Some people think that if that moron Trump is getting the better of them, it must because he lies and cheats.

Anything happening with that? I'm told that lying on loan applications is a bad thing.

OMG. Do Supremes call each other out this way in court opinion text?
Maybe this is fake?
