"Pride among Democrats tumbles, while independents also hit new low, more than offsetting increase among Republicans."

According to a new Gallup poll, reported at "American Pride Slips to New Low."

"American Pride" is a bit awkward. The question asked was "How proud are you to be an American — extremely proud, very proud, moderately proud, only a little proud or not at all proud?"

Interesting chart.

Doesn't surprise me. How many members of the squad would say they are proud to be an American? None would be my bet.

Notice how the left is only proud of America when they're in control.

It's like the useless question about the country going in the right direction / wrong direction. The same people could answer it in opposite ways depending on what they are thinking about at the time. I am very proud of my nation, but I can think of ways and times I'm absolutely ashamed of it too.

From the link...

At the beginning of the 21st century, U.S. adults were nearly unanimous in saying they were extremely or very proud to be Americans. But that national unity has eroded over the past 25 years due to a combination of political and generational changes. Democrats today are much less likely than in the past to express pride in their country; in fact, their national pride has hit a new low. Additionally, Generation Z and millennials are much less proud of their country than their elders are.

"Additionally, Generation Z and millennials are much less proud of their country than their elders are."

Who, in the schools and colleges, is teaching these generations? The answer to that question might explain Generation Z and millennial results.

Just sayin'.

FormerLawClerk said...

But BagoWater ... the question is "Do you think the country is headed in the right direction?"

So what's your vote?

bagoh20 said...

Remember, a majority of Democrats polled said they would abandon the nation if it was attacked and invaded and a similar majority of Republicans said they would stay and fight for it. I assume independents would sit on the fence and see who wins.

How dare they ask this question during "pride" month.
*snort of derision.*

Jim at @6:24PM absolutely nails it.

The difference between left and right is that the left equates the government with the country and the right doesn't. During FJB's autopen presidential term, everybody I know on the right was still proud of America, even though they did not agree with how the left was running it.

A net loss of American pride...finally something Dems can be proud of!

The question was how proud one is to be an American. One can be proud of America, as an unprecedented phenomenon and an astonishing institution, without necessarily being any too proud of what we Americans have made of it. I come near to despair when I consider what will be required to MAGA, and how ill-prepared I am to assist in that undertaking.

Jupiter said...

Are you proud to be one of these people?

bagoh20 said...

"So what's your vote?"
Just like I said, it depends on what you are talking about and when you ask it. I feel good about the direction the majority of America is going right now, but did not before November 2024. I'm also really disappointed in a bunch of us who seem incapable of learning from the past mistakes of ourselves and others, not to mention an epidemic of poor reasoning, bad education, and naivete' that allows that to fester. Optimistic though, because the majority are finally getting their sea legs.

If you’re a natural-born American, try to match the pride felt and displayed by most naturalized American citizens. It tends to be a high bar.

If a person isn't willing to defend their homeland, then they deserve - morally - none of the benefits of living there. The laissez-faire sensibilities toward broader social issues such as immigration status, border control, or illegally hitchhiking on public services like Medicaire are a product of the values taught to children. People that have done without, value these things. People that have never gone without, do not. They've never been in jeopardy.

Seeing as how Republican pride in being an American is actually up, wouldn't a more accurate headline be: "Democrat/Independent Pride Slips to New Low" ?

Asking for a friend.

The other problem is that the baby boomer generation has amassed wealth and then they implemented numerous systems to keep funneling wealth to themselves at the expense of the younger generations.

Mason G said...

Just curious- what are some of those "numerous systems"?

Sebastian said...

"American Pride Slips to New Low." Translation: Dems hate country even more than before. Just to illustrate that we in effect have two countries.

JIM said...

It's been a real downer for Democrats since 2015, meanwhile those racist Republicans have consistently polled over 90% proud, even hitting that level during Obama's era.

Achilles said...

Step one: Create a tax system that advantages capital and asset owners. Give them all massive tax breaks.

Step two: Tax the shit out of wages earners who are generally younger than you.

Step 3: Put multiple generations into massive student debt for opportunities you got for almost nothing.

Step 4: Fund quasi government slush funds like blackrock, vanguard and state street to buy up all the assets and make sure single family home prices are massively inflated.

Step 5: Import millions of 3rd world people to depress starting job wage levels.

At that point younger generations are going to feel like you all are out to fuck them over.

The interesting part is watching the the urban elite lose control and how they react to losing their unearned status.

They are not handling it well.

Remember Michelle Obama saying she was finally proud of America for the first time in her life once we elected her husband.

Peachy said...

I don't like the word "pride".
At. all.

Mason G said...

Step 1: I didn't do that. Nobody even asked my opinion on the subject.

Step 2. I was a wage earner up until the day I retired. Are you telling me that I was taxed less than people who were younger than me, who earned the same amount of money? I have my doubts.

Step 3. When I was younger, I started college but chose to not continue, partly due to the cost. Are you telling me that current generations are being forced against their will to go into debt for college?

Step 4. I'm sure I funded a lot of that crap through my taxes but I most certainly wasn't given the choice to opt out of that.

Step 5. I didn't import a single person and I've always been been opposed to illegal/unregulated immigration even though Joe Biden (not a boomer) chose to allow it.

But... boomers, right?

Bob Boyd said...

Pollster: Are you proud to be American?
Dem: I'm better than that.

The Democrats are anti-american, they don't care about the country and they have no love for it. To them, the USA is a just an economic zone for them to push their agenda. If they didn't feel that way, they wouldn't support open borders and anyone from anywhere in the world coming here. And then being given the vote and Government Benefits.

The care about the USA in the same way Trotksy and Stalin "cared" about Russia.

Interested Bystander said...

It sure sounds like the poll is slanted about 4:1 toward being at least a little proud.

Besides being motived by power and corruption, the Demcorats are also motivated by hate. FIrst it was rich, the bourgeoise. Now, its any white person who doesn't belong to their team.

That's why Democrats "are proud or not proud" depending on whether they're in power. Michelle Obama said the first time she felt proud of the USA was when Barrack was elected.

But you can choose to be an American. Or a not-American.

Gallup is noted for under-sampling Republicans. Recall their "too close to call" prediction released on November 3 last year. All the usual suspects were giddy with delight. It might take weeks to get the final count, but Kamala's got it. Recall that? Gallup was often cited. The contrast against the rolling thunder of November 5's actual vote was stark and discrediting. Evidently, they haven't revised their model yet. Gallup was the gold standard in the 1960s, but an also-ran today.

Democrats are increasingly “citizens of the world”. To them, the United States are just random lines drawn on the global map.

What a nonsensical "story." Leftists and democrats cannot have lost pride in the USA. They have been actively attempting to destroy it for the last 60 years. They never had any in the first place.

It would be the equivalent of putting out an article stating that campus leftists stopped showering.

Or that kak/Richsockpuppet and Inga stopped posting anything coherent and intelligent.

First, burn all the schools of K-12 educator-training.

Yes. 170 million people in the US are "low IQ" and believe in these polls. We let them vote. And breed. The average IQ of 100 is just a few points above what is historically considered "retarded," meaning an IQ of 70. Three percent of US citizens ... around 10 million people are considered "retarded."

We allow them to vote also.

Put another way Republicans are proud of America when citizens are free to speak and do business as they see fit.

Democrats are proud of America when they are in power and it censors political opposition, jails opponents, and tries to kill their political leader while taking as much of their stuff as possible through taxation.
