Watching videos of Tm Walz the last few days, and I am starting to think of him as the real Manchurian Candidate.
First he marinated in CCP propaganda as a young man, including repeated travel to China, supported by...China.
Second, he marries an Angela Lansbury equivalent.
Now he travels the countryside pushing communist politics unrepentantly, while ostensibly staking out a campaign to run for president. He doesn't seem to have any real nation-wide constituency, yet someone is whispering in his ear to run, baby, run.
Since we know he has no personal money, who is supporting this? I have to wonder who is running him so hard.
Another close call at Reagan National airport (DCA), this time between a Delta Airbus with 136 people on board and a US Air Force T-38 jet trainer. The problem is caused by the proximity of Reagan National to Arlington National Cemetery. When Air Force generals are laid to rest it is not unusual for the Air Force to stage a flyover -- I've seen some of those myself while working on assignments in buildings close to the Pentagon. In this case a flight of 4 T-38s was about to fly over the cemetery and execute a "missing man formation," where one of the aircraft abruptly accelerates out of a normal four aircraft formation in a steep climb (as if flying home to heaven). The Air Force advises the Reagan National control tower that it is beginning the flyover, and requests them to briefly hold off on takeoffs and landings. The control tower acknowledged receiving the request, but for some reason continued to clear passenger jets to take off anyway. In this case the two planes are believed to have missed each other by as little as 500 feet.
TRUMP will have to fire weiss to stop the bleeding, the ridiculous spin isnt working,of course its classified info, stop the gaslighting and do it.I'll say withn a week. Hegseth is the guy the whole world knows should be gone he is really clueless. Weiss will quell the fire (for awhile)
The new Secretary of Transportation recently stated that the FAA’s equipment is 40 years old. Floppy discs. Pete failed at his job. He also didn’t hire enough ATC.
Does anyone know what the hell Dinky is talking about? It reminds me of when I worked in a neuropsychiatric facility and had occasion to read the journals of people with organic brain disorders that mimic psychiatric problems. Temporal lobe epilepsy, for example.
You OK there dinky? You need a referral? I know some good doctors that can help you.
@narr — Thank you for the tip about Beatrice Rana playing Bach. I will be listening to more of her. (That is the second time I have discovered a new musical star through the Althouse blog. First time was the Icelandic guy thanks to rhhardin.)
@Dave Begley, “Mayor Pete” Buttigieg cared more about diversity statistics than air transportation safety, and 67 people flying in from Wichita paid with their lives. But I am not going to let the FAA off the hook. In my previous life as a federal contractor they had a reputation around town as being the most hidebound, obdurate, and resistant to technology modernization of any in Washington, DC. The FBI under Louis Freeh was worse, but when I retired a decade ago the FAA hsd to be at or near the bottom. When Musk and the DOGE crew take a good look at our air transportation safety systems, they may choose to take Amtrak back to California.
Wanna know why I visit the Althouse blog? I visit here, I read the posts, and the comments because no one, not even DINKY DAU 45, has written a word about the pyramids of Giza.

Sean Duffy said: "We're going to have a brand new-system. Again, our system is 25-30 years old. We use copper wires, floppy disks. I mean, it is atrocious the system we use. It's safe, but we're seeing the cracks of age."
He is pretending that he is responsible for initiating updates to a 25 - 30 year old system when the Biden administration had already let a contract with Verizon to upgrade a system that never used floppy disks because they were gone long before the turn of the century and of course, no computer system will run without electrical connections using copper wire. Word has it that Duffy is cooperating with the Doggydo mutts to fire a bunch of ATF folks.
BTW, if he thinks it ain't broke, what is there to fix? And exactly how long does he think it takes to develop the the conceptual changes, plan, hire, write code, assemble, test and implement this new system? And no Virginia, SpaceX doesn't have the people on board nor the organization to work any magic here.
What should be done with the Department of Health? Well, to start, there needs to be some separate compartmentalized sections. One important section- The Department of Individual Healthy Practices. This department should look at anything that's supposed to be good for health- that an individual can do by themselves, or in conjunction with health professionals or others, to maintain their own health. What would be some recommended practices? How about- brushing your teeth- with a good toothpaste. Ah- what is a good toothpaste? Should it have fluoride? Or Hydroxyapatite? Or both? The DIHP could request the Department of Reliable Health studies to investigate existing literature and make recommendations- or do studies of their own. How about daily nasal irrigation? That's my big thing. How about- supplements, vitamins, minerals, and other things? Should you be taking them? Current advice from the medical "establishment" is "Hell NO!" Eat a well balanced diet! You'll get everything you need!" Um, no, you won't. And let's talk about the MDR, or minimum daily requirement. How is that established? By seeing the minimum amount you need to avoid symptoms of shortage. So for Vitamin C, how much is needed to prevent scurvy? For D- rickets. Iron- anemia. and so on. Is that the optimum amount? No. There are numerous studies out over decades that show that increasing the blood level of Vitamin D from zero to 50 ng/ml shows increasing health benefits and better outcomes for every URI including TB. Seems to level off there, and above 100 ng/ml is defined as Vitamin D intoxication- which is bad for you. But symptoms of that can show up at 70 ng/ml IF you're not also supplementing with Vitamin K. It's estimated 3-50% of the US population is actually deficient in Vitamin D, and yet, again, the official advice is- don't routinely test! WTF? 30-40% of the population is deficient but don't test? Huh? Does that make any sense? Oh, part of the reform- all individuals as part of health freedom should be able to order and pay for any health testing they want to out of pocket without needing a doctor as gatekeeper. Most people ordering tests will be intelligent enough to interpret the results- or they wouldn't be ordering them... And those not ordering any on their own probably aren't... Whatever. I live in the Dictatorship of NY- and us peasants aren't allowed to order up labs and get them on our own- we have to pay a gatekeeper who gets the results and then we have to pay and visit again to see what they are...
But you can see where I'm going with this. A Department to aid people in understanding YOU are responsible for YOUR health, and we're here to help you, but we're not going to tell you what to do, just tell you what seems to be best. The rest is up to you.
The CDC? Good name, and the functions should be identifying and mitigating disease outbreaks- of uncommon or deadly diseases. and recommending community health measures. Clean water supplies. Sanitation standards for public buildings.
The Vaccination Department- responsible for evaluating vaccine safety and efficiency. And balancing who should or shouldn't receive a vaccine. Let's take measles, the current bugaboo. One child has died- blamed on measles, but apparently, as suspected from the beginning, he died of the other things he had. Bad to get sick if you're already sick.
We know the measles vaccine likely kills a few children each year. As would measles if everyone wasn't vaccinated. Which would be less harmful?
The Don isn't smart enough to develop complex tariff strategies to raise prices on all imports of automobiles by 25% while eliminating government subsidies on electric cars. So, I believe that Musk is behind this move to eliminate electric car competition in America. Tesla sells zero vehicles in the U.S. that are not made here, and the decline of Elmo's brand needs to be fixed by government interference.
Trump is threatening U.S. carmakers, saying bad things will happen if American carmakers raise prices. Musk wants electric cars eliminated from U.S. vehicle offerings, and the EV loss leaders in American showrooms will disappear, perhaps stabilizing Tesla stock values. Fortunately, Americans are independent thinkers, so this strategy may adversely affect profitability for the world's richest man. But then again, what goes around comes around, and we may see a deeper recession hastening the elimination of the tariff war.
And exactly how long does he think it takes to develop the the conceptual changes, plan, hire, write code, assemble, test and implement this new system?
Well then, forget about it. Let's stick with the outdated, obsolete, dangerous and grossly inefficient system we have. And for gosh sakes don't fire anyone!

“Watching videos of Tm Walz the last few days…”
Our 10 month old grandson does a wonderful impression of Walz and his jazz hands.
Watching ‘Severance’. This one feels like a winner. Every show I’ve tried ended up not finishing even one season.
%#$@*& Youtube keeps showing me new and fine things.
Beatrice Rana - Amsterdam Sinfonietta - Bach - BWV1052 or 1054 especially.

Democratic senator warns ‘extreme’ progressives risk alienating Americans ~ FT
The greatest voice of reason in the Democratic party is a guy who suffered a stroke.
The democrats are so dispirited and rudderless, nobody has called for a deportation pause for Ramadan.
The reason I even know Ramadan is on is because my phone calendar says tomorrow is Eid al-Fitr day marking the end of fasting in Ramadan.
Harry Reid would never let an opportunity pass just like that.
Yeah, it seems Dinky has suffered a stroke of some kind.
The dramatic, fiery sunrises get all the love, but oh, how I love a cozy gray day.
Me too 👆🏽
"Does anyone know what the hell Dinky is talking about?"
I don't read him.
"The new Secretary of Transportation recently stated that the FAA’s equipment is 40 years old. Floppy discs. Pete failed at his job."
He may have been Biden's worst hire. Can anyone list an accomplishment of his 4 years in office?
Sky News has blamed Trump and DOGE for the scale of the earthquake disaster in Myanmar, which makes a change from blaming it on Climate Change.
"No one... has written a word about the pyramids of Giza."
Ramadan came really close... too close.
@Quaestor (9:32), I've seen them up close. They're pretty big. Hatshepsut's temple near Luxor seems grander.
"oh, how I love a cozy gray day."
Here is a lovely sample from almost 10 years ago.
Scroll down a bit 👆🏽

Gadfly, it takes 30 seconds to find floppy disks for sale on the internet.
So, apparently not gone since before the turn of the century.

You're welcome, Clark and Aggie (and the rest of you people too). She's been around for longer than I would have thought--but better late than never.
