Indeed Madison Man. The poorest probably live in the older parts of town - areas with old buildings that lack modern engineering. The newer- wealthier parts of town don't crumble to the ground. Amazing to see the difference. Just some pool swishing in the fancy part of town.
The West could just tell the Burmese junta: "We'll send aid, if you lot get on the empty planes and go into exile. Don't worry, you can keep your Swiss bank accounts to support you on our Island of Misfit Dictators. Aung San Suu Kyi, you get on the plain too, just for balance; not like you were spotless in your brief rule. If you all don't want to do that, we won't send any aid. Your people already hate you, and a hungry mob is an angry mob. You decide."
But no one will do that. It's that damn Star Trek movie where the Klingon moon blew up. A whole generation taught not to finish off the bad guy when he's down.
Interesting how the film of the Ava bridge failure shows the trusses all fell to the left and stood to the right. The trusses have rollers on one side to allow expansion and co traction, but the trusses must have moved so much they fell off the roller.

I for one would be worried about all of our American Karen's being fully liberated.
There are some interesting event videos out there, one showing a fancy glass tower doing a slow sway of pretty remarkable amplitude, judging by its movement in the background against shorter buildings in the foreground. Magnitude has been upgraded to 8.2, and the shallow depth would tend to imply a good bit of severity, because of the shear. No tsunamis, I guess.

That headline wins the prize for "Unclear writing". Who is the country "already in chaos"? Thailand or Burma?
The poor get poorer. Tragic all the way around. I hope the world responds in a good way.
terrifying.
The Clintons will make money off this. Again.

You get great video. It used to be restricted to only airshow crashes.
No free access for me.
There’s a video of a high rise (under construction) pancaking a la WTC on 9/11.

Did the gray lady explain how this was a result of climate change?
Must be due to Climate Change.
Terrible thing, but, the monks have cellphones? Where do they keep them?
Rock the chaos.

That was the Thai Geological society that upgraded magnitude to 8.2 - USGS is still maintaining the 7.7 magnitude.
