"Migrants deported from the US, and even 'dangerous' American citizens convicted of heinous crimes could be headed to a notorious hellhole prison in El Salvador..."

"After a meeting between US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele in San Salvador on Monday, Rubio announced that the [Terrorism Confinement Center] could begin accepting inmates from the US.... The inmates are... crammed into their cells for 23.5 hours a day, with each cell holding 65 to 70 prisoners. Rival gang members are often kept in the same cells.... The mega-prison is capable of holding 40,000 people, with Bukele offering to fill some of the vacancies with criminal migrants and convicted US citizens, for a fee...."

From "Inside El Salvador’s mega-prison where president has offered to hold ‘dangerous’ US citizens and criminal migrants" (NY Post).

Here's some video of Rubio:

"That's an offer President Bukele made. Obviously, we'll have to study at our end. There are obviously legalities involved. We have a Constitution. We have all sorts of things. But it's a very generous offer. No one's ever made an offer like that, and to outsource at a fraction of the cost, at least some of the most dangerous and violent criminals that we have in the United States...."

Let’s cut to the chase. There will be ZERO American citizens held in El Salvador.
It’s just another example of fear mongering by the media.

Trump and Rubio bring lots of toughness and strength to this problem. The cartels and gangs only understand strength. Go Marco, go!

Send the lying corrupt Congress critters and deep staters too, while we are at it.

When do we send Fauci there?

This seems like a gambit to make Guantanamo Bay a less objectionable option when compared to El Salvador. But hey, if you are being deported and your own country denies you entry, you need somewhere to go.

Mike (MJB Wolf) said...

Correct. I heard Rubio announce this live and he mentioned "deportees" explicitly. We do not and are not deporting American citizens.

This is known as disincentivizing illegal immigration. With the NGO money being cut off at the same time, it's really more of a courtesy message to let individuals know they should re-think their trip.

What's Devil's Island doing these days?

When I was in El Salvador (which is a nice country) about 20yrs ago, there was a shotgun-toting guard in front of almost every other store. The crime was that bad. We felt fairly safe though, because if you were approached by anyone the least bit sketchy-looking, you could just sidle up to one of the shotgun guys. Never had to, as it turned out.

They were busting these tattooed thugs back then; we used to see them in groups of 5-10, shackled in the back of police pickups, being carted off somewhere. Looks like there must be a lot more of those pickups in use now. Unfortunately for them, the stores' shotgun guys probably no longer have jobs.

Here we go. Leftist hearts bleed for violent criminals.
They do not care at all about Laken Riley. etc...

These countries resist taking back their criminals because they are likely to take over and create a cartel-style environment a la Mexico. This is why Guantanomo kept so many middle-eastern people for so long, despite Obama's outrage and demands for change.

Rubio is right, that is a very generous offer by El Salvador. As the corporate media emphasizes the abominable condition of the prison, a bunch of criminal illegals will self-deport. The worst of them can't be certain their country will welcome them back.

The Democrats and the liberal/left love criminals so they'll hate this. And if illegal aliens or extra violent USA citizens get shipped there it will break their hearts. If Biden had shipped the J6ers there, they would've clapped their hands with Joy. WIth them, its only about "who whom". They have no principles.

Serious Question:
*IF* your Organization is funded by the US Gov; by What Stretch are You "Non-Government"?

Interesting competitive new entrant for the US prison corps. How do they respond competitively — make their prisons even worse?

Peachy said...

Blame Biden. He did this.

I nominate Kak for a “stretch” in one of Bukele’s resorts.

Poor democrats. They need illegal criminals to vote for them - just as much as anyone.

I read something last week that implied they were doing summary executions of new arrivals. Perhaps they wanted to make more room. Rubio and Trump are hoping to scare some more into self-deportation.

I don't think any US citizens will or should be shipped to El Salvador. The constitutional provision against cruel and unusual punishment would probably prevent it. If conditions like those in El Salvador's prison are illegal here, I'm thinking it would also be illegal to subject a prisoner to those conditions in another country.
Personally, I think Supermax is cruel.
In light of what we've learned recently, is it not reasonable to ask, how does the federal government have any moral authority to investigate, prosecute or punish anyone for any crime?

Donald Trump said he would be “fine” and “very happy” with the removal of incarcerated American citizens to El Salvador’s jails. Elon Musk called it a “great idea.”
It’s also illegal and an unconstitutional assault on human rights, according to immigration law experts and constitutional scholars.
The Trump administration is reviewing a proposal from El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele to imprison Americans in the Central American country’s jails, “even though they’re U.S. citizens or legal residents,” according to Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Of course its illegal but does that make a difference these days? Rubio will do whatever he is told,,you know LITTLE MARCO

@gilbar "*IF* your Organization is funded by the US Gov; by What Stretch are You "Non-Government"?

That's the whole parlor-trick element of this grift. The government agencies like US A.I.D. funnel money to 'reputable' NGOs with old-money names. The NGOs then disburse the money to other, slightly-less reputable organizations, and so it goes, until money is being shifted, ultimately, to bad actors doing dirty deeds that taxpayers would prefer to decline funding.

There have been some bubble chart flow diagrams out that were created by sharp-eyed people, showing the linked nature of this. I started seeing them in early 2024. It's money laundering, pure and simple, designed to hide the flows, to mask the sources from their receivers, and blur out the real amounts. Organizations give to each other repetitively, back and forth across the coast of time. The Bidens did the same thing with their family 'finances' and foreign countries.

I'm sure there's a way for people smarter than me to map this out plainly, right now it looks like something only a savant could wrap their minds around. I feel it will come out. It's fun to watch it happen, and long overdue.

Those were Obama's people. He did everything he could to make sure they had everything they need, and comfort to boot. They are terrorists. They should be dead. They are treated way better than the J6 political prisoners ever were.

wendybar said...

Tell that to the just released political prisoners who were tortured and mistreated in Bidens gulag.

I thought the US has private prisons who make money off these prisoners. What about their business?

Costs are too high here. It’s better to globalize. 😉

Someday in the future, that prison will have a massive prison break. It'll be the stuff of cheap Hollywood action flicks. Only real.

Bob Boyd said...

I assume you're not saying that torturing and mistreating the J6 prisoners was done legally?
The last sentence in my comment above should make it clear I'm not naive about what kinds of things our government is capable of. What I said was, I don't think it would be legal.
And I don't think the Trump administration will send any US citizens to prisons in El Salvadore. If they did try, I think the courts would say no and Trump would obey.
I think this is stray voltage.

Jersey Fled said...

I doubt that we’ll ever take him up on the deal, but think of the deterrent value.

Like many things Trump, it’s not always about what he plans to do, but what you think he might do.

I. Don’t. Wanna. Be. Right.

And further, with the way the Left has vilified Trump over the years, many will believe it.
