"Trump to call for a 'revolution' in common sense."

Says the crawl at CNN, which I'm watching with the sound off. Lots of reporters in heavy jackets and scarves standing in front of various inauguration scenes — the Episcopal church, the line for humble citizens to get into the outdoor space for witnessing the indoor swearing in, etc.

That "'revolution' in common sense" language refers to the inaugural address, and it sounds like an interesting mix of order and disorder... and also like a reference to the Revolutionary War pamphlet titled "Common Sense."

Common sense and a few good kicks in the ass and some of the Democrats may come around.

It’s possible.

"Revolution in common sense"

And the common sense is...whatever the reader wants it to be. CNN fanning the flames again. Fortunately for America, hardly anybody watches CNN anymore.

Let’s try: When the outgoing President is blanket pardoning high profile politicians on his way out the door common sense says those high profile politicians committed crimes.

Revolutionary!

Serious question: So why did all the elite, brilliant people suddenly lose all their common sense?

Look what's happening out in the streets
Got a revolution, Got to revolution
Hey I'm dancing down the streets
Got a revolution, Got to revolution
Ain't it amazing all the people I meet
Got a revolution, Got to revolution

One generation got old
One generation got soul
This generation got no destination to hold
Pick up the cry

Hey now it's time for you and me
Got a revolution, Got to revolution
Come on now we're marching to the sea
Got a revolution, Got to revolution
Who will take it from you
We will and who are we
We are volunteers of America

- “Volunteers” by Jefferson Airplane (1969)

It says a lot about where we presently are when simple common sense becomes revolutionary.

Yes, it definitely says a lot about where we presently are...it says that Biden and the Democrats have been totally batsheet crazy the last 4 years (at least).

They never had it. Most of them came in on the coattails of a handful of elected officials with power (Clinton, Obama, Biden), and used raw aggression or trickery to get/keep what they now have. Politics attracts psychopathic predators and always has. Once upon a time physical strength dominated, but now persuasive liars get ahead. They used to present a facade of common sense when morals were more commonly discussed (e.g., Christianity was mainstream), and they mimicked Christians to win their votes. In the media-driven era of the last few decades, everything follows from personal charisma and popularity. There has been no pretense of morality at all.

Quoting the transitional figure Bill Clinton: "It depends on what the definition of 'is' is."
