I'm watching the live blogging at SCOTUSblog.
Get your fresh opinions here (on the Court's website).
UPDATE: "So we are NOT getting TikTok today. We will keep you posted (on BlueSky and on the blog's calendar) if we hear anything about a new opinion day or anything else that might shed light on when we might get an opinion."
MEANWHILE: From the London Times: "As the Supreme Court decides whether to ban TikTok in the US from next week, users have already begun flocking to another Chinese-owned app, known in English as RedNote. Xiaohongshu, which directly translates in Chinese as 'little red book,' has surged in popularity in recent days and on Tuesday it was the most downloaded free app from the US App Store. One of China’s most popular social media platforms, with 300 million users, RedNote offers similar short-form video content as TikTok — from beauty tutorials to restaurant reviews — and also serves as an online marketplace... Americans on RedNote have been drawn to the hashtag 'TikTokrefugee,' which had attracted more than 100 million views and 2.5 million discussion threads by Tuesday. In a video message posted on the app, the user Heather Roberts said: 'Our government is out of their minds if they think we’re going to stand for this TikTok ban … We’re just going to a new Chinese app, and here we are.'"

Bluesky, huh? Will anybody read it?
I guess a selective audience is Amy’s aim.
Soctusblog is boycotting x? I didn’t realize it was a partisan outlet.
I don't recall or know of a 'boycott' but it isn't hard to tell where the political loyalties of the posters at scotusblog lie...
I would watch if the justices would do an internet challenge like the ice bucket challenge on TikTok.
Maybe the spicy hot "One Chip Challenge" if the "wise Latina" is still on the Court.
If you want to instantly turn every U.S. kid below the age of 10 into a Chinese communist just outlaw Tik-Tok. I'm not kidding. They're obsessed and totally addicted to it. Maybe Althouse too. ;)
"We’re just going to a new Chinese app, and here we are." The Federal Government has not yet realized that politics are downstream of culture.
Bluesky. SCOTUSblog betrays their political bent.
If they're already addicted why would outlawing it turn them Communist?
Amazing how many people simply can't wait to give the Chinese government their personal info. I doubt they'd be so eager if TikTok was owned by the US government.
We've come a long way since 1776. Give me short form videos or give me death!
From the London Times: "As the Supreme Court decides whether to ban TikTok in the US from next week..."
Not the main point, but this kind of shorthand messes with people's minds. The court isn't some Council of Elders deciding whether it wants to ban something. It's ruling on the constitutionality of a law.
So there is a Chinese app called Little Red Book. And people are flocking to it. They're not even trying to hide their communist influence anymore.
As I've said before, the Chinese government is not going to come knocking on your door in the middle of the night for wrong speak. That's what the FBI is for. The Chinese are not locking people up for wrong speak in Britain, the British government is.
The ownership and politicization of Google is much worse.
Personal privacy is outdated. Whether it is the CCP, Google, FB or Twitter- our tech overlords know more about our habits, desires, and dreams than we do. Orwell would be so proud.
You make an excellent case for banning it.
Or he'd be horrified.
Just like X now signals the opposite political bent. Big whoop.
According to my teen relatives with whom I watched the Packers lose, most started accounts at Lemon8 within the last few months. Being another ByteDance related app, migrating all your follows was simple.
It seems like app whack-a-mole is in Congress' future.
Tik Tok is Sun Tzu's wet dream. Well Played.

Except X is split about 48%/47% right/left by political orientation. I can only imagine Bluesky's split.
No, Mark, X is 50/50
BlueSky bans conservatives
So "BlueSky only" says "I'm a lunatic left wing freak and loser, who can't handle people pointing out that I'm full of shit"
