When is it Chris Christie's turn?

I'm reading "Christie pushes back on calls for him to drop out..." (CNN).

It must be very frustrating for the poor man. He saw all the hopes and dreams of anti-Trumpsters poured into Ron DeSantis, a product that just wouldn't move. Then all the money flowed to Nikki Haley, and here she is living up to Trump's epithet for her.

And they're telling Christie to drop out? Isn't he the only one left? When is it his turn? The anti-Trumpsters need someone. He's been trying for so long to be that person.

Here he is world, here's Chris! [I'm envisioning a parody of "Rose's Turn."]

Nikki really stepped into yesterday.

Vivek, on the other hand, has about 10 events in Iowa today. Everyone has their phones and his campaign films most (if not all) of the events. He always takes questions; even from libs.

He's never made a stupid mistake like Nikki.

Chris Christie - a product no one wants to buy, or asked for.

In case your curious, Asa Hutchinson is still running. He's literally showing up at Supermarkets and Cafe's in NH and handing out campaign flyers. But why not? Asa has nothing else to do.

I suppose Christie is in the same boat. He can't get elected dog catcher in NJ. His only options are running for POTUS and guesting on MSNBC. I'm shocked at what a silly clown he really is. An empty fat suit.

As Governor of New Jersey he got into a political snit with a mayor and deliberately snarled traffic for that mayor’s constituents who needed to commute into New York City. After Hurricane Sandy he blithely accepted Barack Obama’s assurances that the red tape would be cut for people trying to rebuild, and he did not push back against Obama when it turned out that the red tape for the people who had been devastated by the storm was as bad as ever. For those two things, plus his mediocre record as New Jersey’s governor, he is a nonstarter as a candidate for the Presidency.

He also advised President Donald Trump to appoint Chris Wray to be the Director of the FBI. For that he should be forced to walk naked across America holding a sign that says “I am sorry. I am so very, very SORRY.” With neither sunblock nor mosquito repellent.

He could use the exercise.

She sure blew it with Civil War question. Not as bad as Biden in 1987 but close.

Why should he drop out? Let Chris Christie get embarrassed by the 1 to 2% of GOP primary votes he might get.

It's going to be and interesting year. The GOPe hates its voters, and the feeling is mutual.

I saw a bit by a South Asian comic who was hoping Vivek got to be president, so he could get a spot on SNL.

Perhaps Christie can do a Kasich and stay in until Trump gets about 80% of the necessary candidates, and then the anti-Trump money can tell Vivek and every else polling better than Christie to drop out and put all their money on Christie. When's the New Jersey primary?

Mike (MJB Wolf) said...

He’s unlikeable and has the same problem as every other anti Trump candidate. He’s running for the nomination in a very pro Trump Republican Party. It ain’t rocket science.

When is it Chris Christie's turn?

Hopefully, never. And I say that as someone who voted for him twice. Christie is a humorless bully and a scold. Given NJ politics, Christie was about as well as we can do, but that's a pretty low bar. Like Christine Whitman before him, he was ultimately a major disappointment in the governor's office. I'm certainly not in the never-Christie camp. Christie would get my vote over Biden without a moments hesitation. But in a contest between Trump and Christie I'll go with Trump every single time.

Mike (MJB Wolf) said...

Big Mike fingers the big stain on Christie’s record: vouching for Chris Wray and thereby further entangling Trump in the Deep State mire. He was one of the insiders Trump relied upon and Christie fucked us all. Now go away you silver tongued fat bastard!

Well, to stay with my analogy in the NikkI thread, at least no one ever could accuse Christie of being a lightweight. So he's got that going for him, which is good.

we Already HAD the "anti-Trump"..
They produced 81 million ballots with his name on it, and Now he is the resident of the United States

Oh, and then it "turned out", that he was a woman raping, child molesting grifter; that BRAGGED about extorting foreign governments to protect his coke addicted mentally retarded son.

OH! and then he F*cked up one war, by abandoning BILLIONS of dollars of war equipment, and TENS OF THOUSANDS of pro american people..
THEN, he started ANOTHER WAR.. This time with the worlds OTHER nuclear superpower..
THEN, he irritated his base (the Crack Emcee), by not supporting the mass rape and murder of Jews..
THEN he started ANOTHER WAR.. This time with the worlds economic superpower (which ALSO is nuclear armed).

Oh! sorry; he war with China isn't scheduled until 2024.. I was a few weeks early with that last one

Professor? That's kinda redundant. The stupidest mistake Nikki ever made was being "anti-Trump"

IF Any of these people (besides Vivek) was going to be serious about the republican nomination..
They'd be saying "No Cap, Trump was our greatest President...BUT

OH! come to think about it: That's EXACTLY what Vivek said when i saw him in Waukon*

Waukon* yes, Vivek provided us with tasty pizzas.. YES, there was meat and cheese on the pizzas

One is grossly overweight and has no neck though. Vivek telling him to exit the debate and "go eat" was the only highlight of the recent slap fights. The lowlight was phony Nikki saying her high heels "aren't for fashion, they're for fighting" right before being stumped by a question (Vivek again!) asking what territories exactly the Ukrainians and Russians are fighting over.

I'm sensing a pattern in Haley's self-immolation. Maybe the Big Money guys should invest in TPUSA or Moms for Liberty or another worthy conservative cause rather than these anti-Trump losers.

Christie's problem is he had a very good first term as governor of New Jersey, and a very not good second term. By the end of the first term he was generally popular. By the end of the second term he had long outlasted his welcome. He really had nothing to run on for his first presidential run, his accomplishments since leaving the governorship do not recommend him, and I have no idea why he is still around and who is bankrolling him.

But why wouldn't they want to push him out? Every candidate wants to run unopposed.

Clear the decks for Trump's victory march to the Republican nomination. Congrats.

Vivek and Nikki will find spots in Trump's cabinet.

Big Ron will return to Florida, and keep that state humming. He can start prepping for '28.

Trump's VP choice is one of a few variables left to resolve.

“Clear the decks for Trump's victory march to the Republican nomination.”

Riding high in the Iowa primary doesn’t mean anything. It certainly doesn’t mean he will be president. Iowa is Dumb Check Island in the middle of a country that is starting to yearn for generational change on a rapidly escalating scale. New Hampshire is where the change will start to surface. Nikki Haley will start to bury Trump inevitability on Super Tuesday.

Christie never had a chance at the nomination. Republicans dont like him. He is the sum and substance of GOPe, swamp master. He and the GOPe is what Trump is fighting against.

Christie was hired to be the attack dog. Take out Trump, by any means. Christie failed miserably at his assigned task. Christie will not be getting the big bonus. A cabal approached Christie with this job, his campaign fund is his pay. That's about to go dry. Christie was never a candidate, His job was to cripple Trump. He failed. Because everyone is intentional blind to why Trump is so popular.

There are precious few politicians that have any core values to start from to answer a gottchya question. Instead they are trying to remember is there is a White Paper on the subject. That comes across as a person not really having their own take on the subject.

My Favorite was Fred Thompson when he ran for President in 2008. When some freshly scrubbed reporter with their J School degree still crisp, asked Fred a gottchya question, he paused, listened, thought for a minute, and then started with a core value. Often he would start at the constitution, and work his way to the question, and by the time he got there, his answer was revealed neatly encapsulated in constitutional values.

If Nikki understood the Constitution, she could have started there and worked to the civil war and an answer would have emerged. Disagree? Fine, but you then left arguing with the Constitution.
(that requires you have done the bare minimum work learning about the purpose to the constitution/Federal government)

Haley has been left alone. The smear machines have been aimed at DeSantis, and some for Vivek.

Wait until it gets down to Nikki and Trump. Then the Dems bring out the long knives. Her. bubble. will. be. punctured.

Ignoring your raw ignorance about what Iowa does for democracy, every 4 years. Forces Politician to meet the people, in machine shed, pizza shops, union halls. Not $10,000 plate fund raisers in ritzy hotels. Surrounded by sycophants and failing to answer a simple question about the Civil War.

I had forgotten about that episode with the state park. He closed the beach in 2017 in a petulant response to a budget impasse, and less than 48 hours later he was sunning himself on the (perforce) otherwise empty beach. Governors Whitmer and Newsom could get away with abusing their own lockdown orders, but a Republican cannot.

@ Iowan2: Iowa gets a long, steady stream of headlines well beyond its size or importance, much if it campaign blather. It begins months of this nonsense. And that's the only time Iowa makes the news. California, Florida, Texas, New York, there's a number of other high population states that really matter. Welcome to US democracy.

That's great if you are interested in who is going to buy the most ads. I explained it to you, but you are stuck on stupid and don't consider the simple facts.
Iowa forces candidates to hit 4 to 6 events a day, with maybe 100 people on average. Talking to the voters. Candidates cant do that in high population States. They give canned speeches in huge auditoriums, repeating the same speech and providing the same sound bites.

But you stay stupid out there.

And your reference to New Hampshire is even farther removed from reality. In fact, New Hampshire, Vermont, Connecticut and Rhode Island should all be merged into Massachusetts.
